Many of them (such as Norton and McAfee) have their own Security Centers which disable the built-in Windows one. If your antivirus/security program doesn't include its own Security Center: The First Question Of Troubleshooting: If the problem is new, what changed between the time things worked and the time they didn't? The Second Question of Windows Troubleshooting: what is the malware/virus status of the machine? If you think it is clean, what programs (and versions) did you use to determine this? Then answer the First Question of Troubleshooting and give details about how you determined the computer is "100% clean". If you only scanned with Sophos and WD, you haven't determined that. Guest GTS Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Security Center dependencies shown on my Vista installation are Remote Procedure Call (RPC) and Windows Management Instrumentation. Both those depend on DCOM Server Process Launcher. Malware is a common cause of security center problems. I suggest running at a minimum MalwareBytes and SuperAntiSpyware. http://malwarebytes.org/ http://www.superantispyware.com/ -- "Richard" <letscreate4u@live.ie> wrote in message news:45B01567-E734-48B9-A105-B28BF54A0640@microsoft.com... > Hi ALL > I hope someone can help here My vista security centre will not start at > all > I have goe to the services and tried to start it myself by clicking on the > service start i tried manual start auto start and auto delayed and > nothing. > > when I try to start it manualy i get this error > 1068 The dependency service or group failed to strat. > > anyone help with this please > > -- > Today is the tomorrow we looked forward to yesterday. Quote
