Critical/Optional Update

I have Vista Premium sp1 and when I went to the Critcal Updates today there

was a download for Defender, which I downloaded. However, there was an

Optional download for:

"Realtek RT8102E/8103E Family PCT-E Fast Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0)"

If I remember correctly, I saw a similar download some time ago, but don't

know what my husband did with it.

Just what is this Optional download and do I really need to download it?

Very confusing these Optional downloads.

Thank you

Alice

Skip ALL driver downloads. Period.

Like DDW said...only download Microsoft Updates from the MS Update site.

All other hardware updates should be updated from the manufacturers website.

In this case Realtek...
