How to use group policy to add group and/or user to registry subke

Is anyone familiar with this issue...I am trying to configure the power

option settings in Windows XP Pro via a group policy

(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/915160/en-us) and I'm unable to add a group

and/or a user to the documented registry subkey. How do I set this permission

using a GPO or script during the login process?

Using a Group Policy (Computer Configuration --> Windows Settings -->

Security Settings --> Registry) doesn't seem to work. FYI...If I manually add

the group and/or user prior to logon it works perfectly. What am I missing?

Will,

have you confirmed that the GPO settings that assign registry permissions

have actually been applied to target computers (by reviewing output of

RSOP.MSC or gpresults)?

Re: How to use group policy to add group and/or user to registry s

Your response made me revisit the GP Results and I found that the Computer

Configuration of the GPO was being denied access due to security filtering.

Originally I had only a specific group listed. This particular GPO is linked

to the domain, so I added "Authenticated Users" to the security filtering and

the issue is now resolved.

Thanks.
