Manually downloaded windows Update Catalog

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am new to SMS2003 and I was task to implement monthly update for all my

advance client desktop pc. I have tried windows update wizard on SMS when

creating new package and SMS will present me all the updates(old or new)which

I believe downloaded automatically from MS website. My issue is I need only

the latest monthly update but it is very difficult to select and could not

filter the updates example by dates. But I do know that if I go to windows

Update Catalog directly from MS, I can filter by date and select whichever I

needed and download them into my local folder on SMS. Here is my question,

how can I integrate or authorize this update files which I downloaded from MS

so that the "patchAuthorize.xml is updated. Is there any tools that it can

update the xml file. I can open it through notepad and add these update files

to update it but I will be prone by errors.

Your help is highly appreciated.

thanks,,

Rene

This would not be supported by MS.

But Here is a question for you why do you only want last month’s HF, why

wouldn't you want all HF that are needed?

Hi,

Im not sure that i understand your question correctly, but i have a package

that i use for rolling out updates to the clients, when i right click that

and under All Tasks, click "Distribute Software Updates", follow the guide,

selects the updates i need, the guide downloades the updates, and then

updates the PatchAuthorize.XML so i matches the updates i have clicked off.

Hope it helps.
