Protect doc templates from theft?

I understand how to password protect a Word doc. Our problem is that

we do not want our techs to be able to copy the templates from our

laptops (that we provide them) onto a usb drive to use for their own

enterprise. There are 5 .dots that have 4 years of improvements.

Is there a way to have a users on our provided xp pro laptops, such

that they cannot lite off with copies of our treasured templates?

Hello Nick:

How does encrypting the templates sound to you? Would password

management then be a problem?

Is disciplinary or legal action against your techs an alternative? Lots

of people are looking for jobs these days...

Thanks for helping with this.

Isn't encryption just a way to make access to the doc impossible

without a password? In this case the user will have the doc password

in order to open it on our laptop. They could then copy it to another

machine and open it with the same password.

Maybe I could just enable event logging and then alert the users that

their actions are being recorded?
