What security programs do you have installed? Many programs like Norton or McAfee have their own firewall component which will disable the built-in Windows Firewall. Please fill in the missing details so we can help you. The First Question Of Troubleshooting: If the problem is new, what changed between the time things worked and the time they didn't? The Second Question of Windows Troubleshooting: what is the malware/virus status of the machine? If you think it is clean, what programs (and versions) did you use to determine this? Be sure the computer is clean: http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2....emoving_Malware Malke -- MS-MVP Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic! http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/#FAQ Quote
Guest PA Bear [MS MVP] Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 There is a very good chance are that you are seeing the affects of a hijackware infection. 1. See if you can download/run the MSRT manually: http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx 2. Run this online scan (in safe mode w/networking, if need be): http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/howsafe.htm 3. Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting the requested logs in an appropriate forum, not here. If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ K101 wrote:<span style="color:blue"> > Whenever I try to turn on my firewall it wont allow me.
