Adware Tracking Cookies problem......please HELP

Recommended Posts

Hi there

Could someone please help me out here?

Problem is “Adware Tracking Cookiesâ€Â. I see this advertisement when I surf

the internet. Ad is from “Creative Zen MP4 player†of about ½ inch thick and

the width of a webpage. It usually pops up at the bottom of a webpage but

sometimes it appears at the top of page. The ad comes on only when I surf

the internet at free wireless hotspots eg. Macdonald’s, library, etc. Weird

thing is that none of those guys that surf at the same hotspot get it.

Scenario: Go to a hotspot. Logon to the web. Start surfing. After a while,

suddenly I see this footer ad on a piece of local news I’m reading. All other

pages I open up will then appear with that ad, irregardless of the subject

matter on the www. Next, after maybe about 10-15 min I get an google error

message that there’s virus or spyware and no longer can surf online.

When I use superantispyware, it detect 50, 80 or more tracking cookies. It

does a cleanup job but the next time I surf, it happens again. What can I do

to get rid of the ad(I’ve set 3rd party cookies as blocked but no use)? What

can I do to permanently eliminate tracking cookies?

Please kindly advise as they are driving me nuts. I’ve been trying to deal

with this issue since 1/2/2009. The above is just to cut the long story short.

Thank you.

Regards

Follow the preparatory steps here:

http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2....emoving_Malware

Then scan with Malwarebytes' Antimalware from here:

http://www.malwarebytes.org

Make sure you update it first.

If the problem continues after that, then get guided help at one of the

specialty forums below.

Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!

Hi Malke

Allow me to share my story. I've tried many methods including downloading

malwarebyte, spybot & destroy, etc. All free download didn't help. One time I

couldn't bootup, computer just hang there with a blank screen and can't shut

down as well. Only way I managed was took out battery to shut down. Went out

and bought Kaspersky internet security 2009 and installed it. But it couldn't

scan anything. Talked with kaspersky 50-60 times on the issue. They insist

there's no virus in my computer. Their program don't even have a tracking

cookie report. That's why I downloaded superantispyware. but now I realise

it's similar to AVG as it can only detect, cleanup but again same cookies sip

in the next time i surf the net.

Any way I can get to the root of this?

Btw, thanks for your earlier reply.

Look forward to any good advice.

Then do as I already suggested and post a HijackThis log to one of the

specialty forums listed in my last post. Do not post the log here as we

don't analyze HJT logs in the MS newsgroups. The expert at whatever forum

you choose will tell you if you are infected.

Or, if you don't want to spend any more time on this, back up your data and

clean-install Windows. Or have a competent local tech take a look. If you

go this last route, I don't recommend a BigComputerStore/GeekSquad type of

place. Whenever someone tells me something along the lines of "talked with

kaspersky 50-60 times", even making allowances for exaggeration because of

understandable frustration, it brings up the possibility that the person is

misinterpreting what they see, or they are reinfecting themselves, etc.

Having a professional who can be hands-on the machine is the best course of

action in those cases.
