Guest espman2 Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Hi, I have been having trouble booting up. I get a block that says DATA EXECUTION PREVENTION has shut down DOS % FILE COMPARE Utility. If I click on close message, my wallpaper comes up, but no icons. I can not access any of my programs. Can I disable it or fix it somehow? Thanks. Quote

You may have a malware infestation to take care of. I don't know any specifics, but you are apparently not alone in this (unless this is also you). http://forums.techarena.in/windows-security/1066497.htm Quote
Guest Roody Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 you are probably infected with sality which is what killed my virtual machine last night. boot-up, hit ctrl-alt-del to open task manager. click file> new task and type explorer and see if your desktop appears. if you receive more data execution prevention messages, it's a bad sign. if you do have this infection, it infects EVERY .exe, .htm, .html, & .src file on the computer. be careful of backing up data. -- --------------------------------- --- -- - Posted with NewsLeecher v3.9 Final Web @ http://www.newsleecher.com/?usenet ------------------- ----- ---- -- - Quote
