Problem: Can not share CDROM drive on Server

OS: Server 2003 for small business Server Servicepack 2 (german)

logged on as: Domain Administrator

Hello,

I try to share the CD ROM Drive on a Server. I can share all Harddrives and

folders, but not the CD Rom drive. Wehn I rightclick the cd drive, "Shares

and Security" is missing. If i click on the properties for the drive, I see

General, Autoplay, and Hardware, but no Security or shares. but they are

available if i try to share a Harddrive or folder instead.

So I tried to rightclick "my computer", manage, shared folders, shares, and

"new share". Clicked on NEXT, Browse, selected the CD Drive, OK, NEXT, I get

the warning it is not recommended, if I want to do it anyway, and I click yes.

Then I get an error message "The following Error occured when retrieving the

information from path "\\?\f:\" wrong parameter."

If I do the same with a Harddrive or folder it displays \\servername instead

of questionmark.

The cd drive is listed as the f$ share F: and when I compared to another

2003 server I installed yesterday, I only saw the c$ to c: share on that one

I have tried to remove the cd drive from device manager and refresh so it

was found again, I have assigned another drive letter, I tried a second drive

letter with the command "subst", and had the same Issue. I have changed the

IDE controller settings from PIO to "DMA when possible".

Any suggestion is appreciated.

Thanks, Henrik
