Network Mapped Drive Error

Recommended Posts

Where should I post a question in regard to a Windows error I receive when

attempting to map a network drive when VPN'ed into a network? The error is

"1265 The system detected a possible attempt to compromise security."

Thanks,

Todd

Check the DNS settings - in fact - check all the network settings on the

computer for accuracy and if you have access to the DNS servers the system

is using - check they are functioning properly.

Thanks, Shenan, I will check these. I should have elaborated more. I have a

PC that is part of a MS domain. When I log this PC out of the domain, and

log into the Windows (not the domain), then VPN into this network (where this

domain resides), I can successfully map this drive. When I log this PC into

the domain (whether or not it's directly connected to this network), then VPN

into the network, I cannot map this very same drive. And I get error 1265.

Also check for faulty powersave options on the LAN driver. Whilst I've never

seen them produce this message, it's a distict possibility. The VPN may be

slightly more tolerant of a shaky connection than the direct wire, hence the

difference.
