Diskeeper will not do anything that you need. You can use the FREE JKDefrag and it does what you need. Symantec Firewall - you should be using a NAT Router at least, and it's a better barrier than any Software based firewall that you manage yourself. Norton AV, don't get me started, if you had said Symantec End Point Protection, well, just download AVG Free.... Guest Richard Urban Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 You have absolutely no idea as to the browsing habits of the previous owner, what type of web sites he frequented etc. He could have been infected in any number of ways with some malware that is basically undetectable. Ever hear of key stroke loggers that call home weekly with anything that you may have typed? Do YOU want to trust that computer with your bank account and credit card information? You could have a credit card drained and it would be because of the previous owner. Do as David suggests and wipe the computer clean and start anew.
