Guest Sandwhale Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 i recently reformatted my computer. I have a backup file in my hardrive which saved my files and after reformatting, i transferred the files i needed to my account out of the backup folder. There are still about 40 GB of files left in the folder which i dont think i would need. I tried deleting it changing ownership, turning UAC off but still cant. Also, i wanted to back my files up in a CD/DVD ROM but it always fails and merely gives me a 0x0087045D error. I would appreciate the help very much. thank you!style_emoticons/ -- Sandwhale Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com Quote
Guest Rick Rogers Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Hi, Open an elevated command prompt by typing CMD into the start/search line, then right click the link that appears in the menu and choose 'run as administrator'. Click continue at the UAC prompt (if you've still got it turned off, you needn't have as this is not related). From the prompt, use CD to get to the root of where the folder is, then run: RD /s /q <dir> Where <dir> is the name of the backup folder you want to delete. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org Vote for my shoe: http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Sandwhale" <Sandwhale.3unv8c@no-mx.forums.vistaheads.com> wrote in message news:Sandwhale.3unv8c@no-mx.forums.vistaheads.com...<span style="color:blue"> > > i recently reformatted my computer.
