phreakwars Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 An Army soldier who fled to Canada rather than redeploy to Iraq surrendered Tuesday to military officials after asking for leniency. Spc. Darrell Anderson, 24, said he deserted the Army last year because he could no longer fight in what he believes is an illegal war. "I feel that by resisting I made up for the things I did in Iraq," Anderson said during a press briefing shortly before he turned himself in at nearby Fort Knox. "I feel I made up for the sins I committed in this war." Anderson, of Lexington, returned to the United States from Canada on Saturday. He could face a charge of desertion. The rest of the article can be found HERE . <---note to Lethalfind...this is the right way to LEGALLY cut and paste you stupid bitch.. Which brings to mind, the following question.... What should happen to those who desert the military ?? I'll let members come up with vote options, then open the poll. . . Quote https://www.facebook.com/phreakwars
Lethalfind Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Thanks for the advice Phreak...you ARE a font of information. Don't join the military if your squeamish...prosecute him. You join up with the understanding you are going to do what your told, period...you don't get too evaluate things for yourself. Quote I am a pathetic piece of shit leeching single mom.
ToriAllen Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 What happened to the good old days when deserters were shot? He should be dishonorably discharged and prosecuted to the full extent. ImWithStupid Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Prosecute him and make him reimburse the government for his pay and benefits for breach of contract. Quote

phreakwars Posted October 4, 2006 Author Posted October 4, 2006 I know members can't see this comment, but I thought I would share it with you. It's a comment by Terrorist~Hater that only MODS can see What happened to the good old days when deserters were shot? He should be dishonorably discharged and prosecuted to the full extent. Don’t sign up expecting all the benefits and none of the cost. OK... Ava Braun ... it's time for you to shut your ignorant ass up. Since you know less then shit about the military, this topic is really above you. You NEVER served so you really have no clue what it is to be in a uniform. Your family may describe it to you but you will never understand it until you've lived it. ..... Since our government is forcibiliy recalling people to active duty and since some of these people are being seperated from thier current careers, familys, and lives; it is not at all surprising that some of them have gone UA (AWOL). Shooting them without a trial is unacceptable. Discharging them dishonorably is excessive unless the've committed some serious crime OTHER THAN DESERTION. A bad conduct discharge is more than enough punishment for such an offense. I realize you're a RINO so you have no regard for the personal rights of others; however, you need to realize that what you're suggesting is excessive. . . Quote https://www.facebook.com/phreakwars
ToriAllen Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Oh, please. No one could possibly understand the military better than him. Not even those who have served. No one is being forced back into active duty. This is about those who are already serving but do not want to go back over to Iraq. You know what; it takes a lot of nerve for someone who was banned from a site for being an idiot to call someone else ignorant. I believe it was this attitude, with the name calling and not actually making any points because his temper confused his logic, that got him on the wrong side of the other members in the first place. snafu Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 You can do all the training in the world but until your there, seeing it... Well My buddy came back from Iraq. I believe I mentioned him before (Ronnie). He’s my age and in the National Guard. I never thought I would see such drastic changes in someone. Not just physical but mental as well. He is always skinny anyway but he lost a shit load of weight. He hasn’t said too much of what he saw there and doesn’t want to. I know he saw dead and dying children. It took about a week for him to get out of his house. He simply didn’t want to relate to the public. We talked him into a few bike rides. Hopefully were going again today. But you can tell his demeanor has changed drastically. In our sugar coated society with our blinders on, we aren’t subjected to war. I have to give sympathy for someone that’s been there and in their heart can’t go back. Quote "You can't stop insane people from doing insane things by passing insane laws. That's just insane!" RoyalOrleans Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 I can sum this up real fast.... Be a fucking adult. You make an adult decision, then by God... see to it. Anyone who deserts their post should be court marshalled and dishonorably discharged, if we're all out of bullets. ToriAllen Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 You can do all the training in the world but until your there, seeing it... Well My buddy came back from Iraq... I understand that everyone reacts differently to war and to what they see. I also understand that some of the soldiers see more, and are exposed to more than others. I do feel sorry for those who experience the worst of the fighting. War is hell and can be a very traumatic experience… However, this article did not talk about a soldier with PTSD. He did not say that he did not want to go back because…well… ‘the horror’. Nope, this guy didn’t want to go back because he did not agree with the war. It conflicted with his political beliefs. That is not a good enough reason to desert, and frankly, it sound more like the reasoning of a coward than a traumatized soldier. No pity for this man here. "Theirs was not to question why. Theirs was but to do or die." ~ Lord Alfred Tennyson Quote Smart men learn from their own mistakes; Wise men learn from others. I refuse to engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed man.
