Down Low Posted October 27, 2006 Author Posted October 27, 2006 wow this topic got further from the original post than most.. But...a cheap ass bastard is a cheap ass bastard..and even if they throw money around "willy nilly" to various causes it doesnt mean they will spend it to where they grew up, hung out, went to school...etc... they are going to throw it where it means the most to them... Hi hansome, heard a lot about you! and on the "teachers a stupid" subject...thats just a retarded thing to even bring up....Someone has to teach the kids the basics because parents cant even seem to teach the kids right from wrong.....instead they take their own opinions and force their kids to believe that their way is the ONLY way....and in the house thats fine.....socially its kinda dangerous! teachers are far underpaid to deal with the crap that gets thrown at them and they cant even do much about discipline because parents just cant understand that their "little angels" would do ANYTHING wrong...i mean please...the television set has tought them so many good values that they would never act out accordingly !! Exactly. We are speaking of a higher plane of thinking in a more sophisticated society, unfortunately greed and lack of decency has made this vision utopian. Who cares if TO is back in Dallas for a game and the ensuing media frenzy makes a field day of it, what about the people still living in tents in Louisiana? It's not wrong to want the world to be a better place and its not wrong to say what you believe even if the negative thinkers will ridicule you. I have had too much confrontation in my life to give up on my hopes and dreams. as far as the donating money and giving back to wherever you are from..there is zero obligation to do so for anyone on this planet...but if they do...then hey...great person! all the more for them!...if they dont...why get upset about it...really! The teacher subject..they need their salaries doubled ...IMHO..NOT because of the actual kids they are trying to teach...but because of the parents expecting the teachers to teach ALL the kids in ther class the parents values of learning...and not of the general learning that schools teach. (and of course the ones that feel toting a gun to class is okay as well).. teachers jobs are right up there with garbage men/women, dishwashers etc... You are truly a visionary of higher thinking and share my values which are very near and dear to my heart. this is one messed up thread...im not even sure what im supposed to be for or against anymore...teachers...kids....celebs..etc....sigh My first thread. I will try to keep it easier to follow next time if you promise to keep posting! Quote

Feckless Wench Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 They chose to be teachers. They get zero sympathy from me. They knew the pay would be shitty. That they would have to deal with punkass students. Thats like a cop crying about his pay. I say get a real fucking job. Should have took engineering while in school. I might not like what I do everyday but damn I get paid good. Who taught you the skills you needed to be able to do your wonderfully well paid job? Quote Dementia is just a state of mind.
Jhony5 Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 Who taught you the skills you needed to be able to do your wonderfully well paid job? I know this question wasn't directed at me, but I'll answer anyway. My parents taught me alot of what I know, and the teachers at the public schools I attended did the rest (which really wasn't very much in retrospect). In my experience, teachers aren't really very skilled. They perform a job that is supposed to be selfless and as far as I'm concerned, they get paid what their worth. If they really had extensive knowledge and exemplary teaching skills, then they would be teaching in a college or major university. Think of it this way. You know the geeks at best buy and other retail electronic and computer outlets that act all knowledgeable and smart about the inner workings of the PC? Well, truth is, they aren't very smart in that respect. If they were, they'd be making far more then the 7-8 bucks an hour they get paid. Same thing with public school teachers. If they really were capable of amazing things that warranted high pay, then our SAT scores would be much higher then they are. Truth be told, if we as the American public demanded a far higher level of performance from our public schools, we'd have to shell out some serious tax dollars to acquire skilled teachers. The ones that are currently in place, would need to be replaced. Quote i am sofa king we todd did.
hugo Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 You are truly a visionary of higher thinking and share my values which are very near and dear to my heart. We have another pinko commie on board. Let me quote Karl Popper; "Those who promise us paradise on earth never produced anything but a hell." The ideas of the utopians,Down Low's "higher thinking" has led to gulags and massive famines. Mussolini, Stalin, Mao and Hitler were all "higher thinkers" i.e. socialists.. Athletes make a lot of money because there talent is rare and people will pay a lot of money to watch them work. Teacher salaries or low bwcause ya ain't gotta be the brightest bulb in the drawer to be one. Pretty much any idiot can get an education degree. Not so with engineering. Teachers in the public education system tend to be paid more than their private school counterparts. Which tells me they are already overpaid due to government interference. Nothing against teachers, my dear mother is one.She was making $53K a year when she retired with a pretty generous pension. (Jhony) Truth be told, if we as the American public demanded a far higher level of performance from our public schools, we'd have to shell out some serious tax dollars to acquire skilled teachers. The ones that are currently in place, would need to be replaced. __________________ The unions would not let that happen. Phantom Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 I have nothing but the deepest respect for (good) teachers. They may have selected their own profession but they easily could have chosen another career path. Anyone who can put up with the current generation of youth gets a pat on the back from me. Definitely one of the many jobs I lack the patience and will to do. Quote Blah.
Jhony5 Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 Posted by Phantom:They may have selected their own profession but they easily could have chosen another career path. This applies to all people whom live in a free country. If you choose to be a teacher, then shut your fucking mouth about the pay and the snoty children. I wouldn't take a job as a pilot if I hated to fly. Reckon ya know what I'm sayin? Oh, of course. Can't argue with that logic. But for some reason, the people that complain about the trials of teaching are outsiders making judgments. I very rarely see teachers actually complaining about it. Quote Blah.
Feckless Wench Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 In my experience, many teachers actually set out on the path to teaching because they want to make a difference. Once they start teaching they very soon realise that given all the 'children's rights' it's damn near impossible to make ANY difference to a kid who prefers to fuck around in class rather than learn. Of course, given said little fucker's 'rights', it's also impossible to teach the rest of the class. To anyone who wants to criticise teachers....try it for just one week. Care to cite some examples babe? If you would like I could pick through your barely legible posts and we could do a side by side. You didn't even try to dispute my claims. Teachers are for the most part, poorly skilled. Many of the teachers in my school experience just parroted the text books and walked us through them. I like how you try and distract by attempting to attack my grammar as opposed to addressing what I have stated. This shows your inability toward free thought. Jhony, you talking about Teaching as if you have a clue would be like me talking about the space program like I have a clue...Using improper grammar right after you tried to say I'm grammatically challenged. I wish I could change my vote and have you sit in the idiot box for your pissy grammar. Let he/her without sin cast the first stone. BTW, I teach my daughter everyday that she is with me. She has excelled far beyond the rest of her class in forming of sentences and spelling. I don't dislike teachers, nor do I feel they are needless slack jawed yokels. I just think this trend to place all teachers in the category of hero is silly and misguided. Some teachers are great, and over time they climb the quasi-corporate ladder within the educational system and become administrators. Thats where the real money is. The rest stay behind to collect their pittance and remain at the idol position on the pay-scale. Just like any job site. There are lower end positions, and there are higher end positions. To the elite go the promotions. If y'all would drop your defensive positions and comprehend what I've been saying, you'd realize that I'm not branding all teachers as incompetent. his experience of teachers is minimul at bestBTW, you spelled minimal incorrectly. Jhony5 Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 The more you talk Jhony, the more your lack of education is evident. You have the mouth of a sewer and its ashamed your even allowed around your daughter... I see you are among those whom have a blurry line between the internet and real life. My lack of formal education is absolutely no indicator of my real world intelligence. So far in this particular thread you have addressed my statements by attacking my supposed "bad grammar" with a misspelled personal attack. Then you return fire with another poor attempt at a personal attack. If I was truly unintelligent I would have hidden my lack of a formal HS education. Maybe have made up some collegiate experience like so many of the fake ass intellectual wannabes I encounter on the web. But I am not that way sister. I'm for real, up front, and honest. I mention my failures in life with no sense of pride in my lack of accomplishments. However I made something of myself. For me, and my little girl. I grew up in the rough streets of west Tucson. Transplanted to the low income white trash district of Mars Hill Indianapolis. I grew up running the streets with people that are now in prison for some very serious shit. I walked the line, unlike you. I don't know you and I may be wrong, but I'm guessing you never went to school with the soles of your shoes flopping, about to come off with every step. I'm guessing you never had the knee patches on your pants wear out, only to be replaced by yet another patch. I suppose you don't know what its like to eat a plain bologna sandwich packaged in a brown sack, while literally all your peers ate a full school lunch with two milks and an extra slice of pizza. I got in fights at least every other week in school. Not because I picked them, because they picked me. I got new toys twice a year. On my birthday, and on Christmas. Thats it. Twice a year. Thats my sad fucking story, babe. Does it make you cry? It did when I was young. You have the mouth of a sewer and its ashamed your even allowed around your daughter...If I was like 90% of the single dads in this world, my baby would not now the good things I never had as a child. This is a debate forum, and I let loose like a motherfucker on it because I can. If your so god dam stupid you actually think I speak like this and carry on like a brutish piece of shit in front of my own kid, then your an ignorant hooker. If you don't like something I say on this forum, then by all means draw together you collective intelligence and let me have your best. But refrain from the personal assaults, especially when they involve my baby. You have the mouth of a sewer and its ashamed your even....Look at that shitty fucking grammar. What the fuck? Jhony5 Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 POSTED BY NN:Absolutely nothing beats an education, education disciplines your mind and your life style to attain goals, answer the question asked, in the proper fashion etc… going to university is not just about passing your classes, making it through the process and dealing with the people and educators is at least 50% of what university teaches you. Here you make the same mistake that most do. You hint that if one does finish high school or even better, college, that they will be successful in life. Statistically your semi-correct, and this would apply to many people, not all however. Funny how you only hear those without an education saying things like- College doesn’t matter – etc.. Maybe because people that have a college education are more then happy to assume the status of "I'm a success" just because they finished college. Fact is there are a shit ton of folks who go through the motions. They graduate HS. They're parents have lots of cash set aside for college so they move on to that. They pick a subject, and go with it. They get out, degree in hand, thinking they're smarter then the average Joe. Ten years later they're a co-manager at McDonald's making less then me, the drop-out. I've talked to many people that went through these motions, but yet never really amounted to shit. Those that can not or chose not to even finish High School are undisciplined, selfish and have tunnel vision not to mention the inability to see things from different points of view. This is true to a certain degree, and often only within the context of maturity. At the age when people are capable to make the choice to drop out, they are too young to understand, as was I. For many kids, something went wrong early in the educational process that left them so far behind. Either through a genetic disposition of stupidity, or really poor parental guidance. For me it was neither, as I had acquired a good education up until the point where I made the decision to start working and leave the school daze behind me. What I had is a quality many do not acquire in school. A strong work ethic. Whether you want to admit it or not, a good work ethic is something that evades many people whom go through the motions and finish a 4 year college. Its about what you do with your smarts, not how much money your parents paid to make you think that your smart. High School is the proving ground for your social skills as well as your ability to adapt. If you can’t make it through High School then your way behind the power curve in life I have serious issue with blanket statements like this. Not everyone is the same. Those that structured our society, have deemed that these things must be true. HS isn't "a proving ground for your social skills". Its a place where all the kiddies are acting fake as hell trying to impress each other through immature material bullshit. Social lines in HS are drawn along lines of race, athletic ability, their parents income, etc. Its where people learn that if your smart and unattractive, your a nerd. If your athletic, your a jock. If your poor, your a hood. If your a pretty girl, your a cheerleader. Its all a fucking joke and NONE of this shit matters as soon as you exit the building and enter the real world. All the sudden no one cares that you were the team captain or the homecoming queen. No one cares if you got an A+ on your algebra final. Believe it or not buddy, no one cares if you told your administrators to fuck off and shove it, either. My direct supervisor, whom makes about 80k yearly salary, never once asked me what grade I got in geometry. Or if I was a good little boy and took full participation in the required social assimilation process in high school. People make mistakes, especially when they're young, and in no way will I argue that quiting school ISN'T a mistake. It is a big 'ol fucking mistake. However it is not the end game. You are not resigned to a life of minimum wage servitude in the ranks of a pauper. If one has the smarts and drive, maybe a pinch of self pride then they can achieve happiness physically mentally, and financially. As have I. No, I'll never be able to afford that mansion on the hill. I'll never have an $85,000 sports car I can drive only on Sundays. I cannot have all that I want. BUT, I can and do have all that I need. Needs and wants are indeed something I learned in school. How to differentiate between the two. Understanding that in life there are possessions that one must have. These things come in various levels of wealth. A house (shelter). Food. Clothes. You can have varying degrees of these things. For instance much of these necessities can be acquired free from welfare programs, which serves as sort of a failsafe for those in our midst that have not the drive or smarts to acquire these goods by ones self. You can have a crappy roach infested apartment conjoined with other lazy sit-abouts, for free or damn near free. Or you can have a modest home, as do I, in a nice neighborhood. A home that you earned with the sweat of your brow and the will of your mind. How your mind gets there, is wholly inconsequential. As long as it gets there. We all travel different roads to adulthood. We face different pitfalls and obstacles. As well, we all handle them in different ways. If you stumble coming out of the gate, then by default, your behind the curve, as you so eloquently put it. However life is a marathon, not a sprint, and one has time to makeup ground lost in the past. To call me stupid even though I have proven myself far from it, is a reflection of your own shortcomings and ignorance to other peoples upbringings. You base this claim on a decision made long ago. Despite numerous decisions made since that counter it. Money like anything else is a tool, I guess you build with a bag of marshamellows huh. Like tools, some people know how to use them, and some don't. An ass load of people in society make a lot of money, yet have nothing but debt. Some have a little money and a lot to show for it. You can give me all the state of the art tools in creation, and I will fail to build a house with them as I do not know how. Quote i am sofa king we todd did.
Jhony5 Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Holy bat shit J5 after all this time did you get your wittle feewings hurt.No not at all. Where did you get the feeling I'm in distress over this? Normally I would not even respond to such ignorance as that displayed in your emontional outburst. Umm...err... what outburst? Where are you getting this feeling that I'm upset or worked up over this discussion? I have no intention of dissecting your reply paragraph by paragraph It's not about interest. Its about capability, and apparently your lacking. I will keep it short and sweetAgreed. Best to stay within your limitations buddy. You have pulled out all the stops on this subject just like you pull out all the stops in the justification of marijuana. This is a debate forum. Either come with it, or sit it out bro. Don't half step around me or ya get pooned. If I choose to debate a topic, yes, I go all out. Thats why I get rept'd so high on this board with minimal postings. Because I says it like it is and cross-up college grad quasi-intellectual wanna-bes like yourself. You are one of those people that take a sliver of a ratio and blow it into the majority, or you find one exception to the rule and try and turn it into the constant. Unfortunately, life is not a pie chart. If your comprehension was up to par, then you would have noted the several times I put myself in the minority of HS dropouts. I made no attempt to skew the statistics involving dropouts and their failures in life. I only quoted examples that counter the prevailing thought that if you do not finish HS, your doomed. Justify and pull examples out of your ass all day long, the fact remains, you dropped out of high school because you could not cope with it..periodIn such a fervor over trying to prove yourself correct, you fail to listen to what I have stated. I said it. HERE>>>At the age when people are capable to make the choice to drop out, they are too young to understand, as was I. ...and HERE>>>People make mistakes, especially when they're young, and in no way will I argue that quiting school ISN'T a mistake. It is a big 'ol fucking mistake. You insist that I don't recognize the mistake of quiting. Despite the many times I clearly stated that, yes, it was a mistake. The truest sign of a failed debater is when others have to put it all together for you. Why not just sit by and allow me to retort for you? I will have to come back and address the other insane points you brought up,Indeed. This would be wise my friend. Think about it. Allow it to burn in your limited cerebrum. Maybe your retort will come with more then pointing out the things I have already stated. Holiday season is coming and the tribe is gathering, much to be done. Your excuses are as handy as your poor comprehension. Bravo. Posted by NN:I'll have to come back after thinking about this for awhile. TheJenn88 Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 I don't know what you guys experienced going through school when you were 5-18, but I know exactly how I feel about my education. I wouldn't trade it for the world. There is nothing, not even money, that can compensate for the inspriation, empowerment, ideas, creativity, and goals for my future that some of my teachers have given me. So I say, I don't give a damn if the teacher chose their profession, therefore they deserve everything they get. They help people create their lives, which is a lot more than I can say for some other professions out there, and even some parents. They don't deserve to sit through 8 hours a day annoying, rude, cocky students, or to be paid hardly enough to look like they got a university degree in something. I think anyone who goes through their life dedicating their purpose to trying to better and shape the generation younger than theirs deserves a round of applause and a helluva lot more respect. To me.. a career in teaching is one of the most noble professions a person can take up. Where would our doctors, our lawyers, and our other teachers be without people there to help educate them in the first? If you ask me, a teacher is basically another parent. Raising a child and teaching are two of the most greatest things a person can contribute. Quote
builder Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Goddam, Jenny. I had seven surrogate kids there at one time. The jealousy of those little shits drove me to drink. But I tried to be both teacher and daddy. It's a tough job, if your heart's really in helping kids to learn. A lot of teachers don't give a fuck. Kids remember the ones who do give a fuck. I'm glad you had some good teachers. Quote Persevere, it pisses people off.
