Narcissistic Personality Disorder

 

"Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD), commonly referred to as megalomania, is a personality disorder that is characterized by extreme feelings of self-importance, a high need for admiration, and a lack of empathy. Narcissistic personality disorder can be considered to be a pathological form of narcissism. It is estimated that 0.7-1% of the general population is afflicted with narcissistic personality disorder. Most people with narcissistic personality disorder (50-75%, according to the DSM) are men.

 

People with narcissistic defenses are either "classic" (meet five of the nine diagnostic criteria included in the DSM), or they are "compensatory" (their narcissism compensates for deepset feelings of inferiority and lack of self-worth).

 

According to the DSM, five (or more) of the following criteria are considered necessary for the clinical diagnosis to be met:

  [ ]Firmly convinced that they are unique and, being special, can only be understood by, should only be treated by, or associate with, other special or unique, or high-status people (or institutions);
  [ ]Requires excessive admiration, adulation, attention and affirmation — or, failing that, wishes to be feared and to be notorious (narcissistic supply);
  [ ]Feels entitled. Demands automatic and full compliance with their unreasonable expectations for special and favorable priority treatment.
  [ ]Is "interpersonally exploitative", i.e., uses others to achieve their own ends;
  [ ]Devoid of empathy. Is unable or unwilling to identify with, acknowledge, or accept the feelings, needs, preferences, priorities, and choices of others;
  [ ]Constantly envious of others and seeks to hurt or destroy the objects of their frustration. Suffers from persecutory (paranoid) delusions stemming from a belief that others are envious of them and are likely to act similarly;
  [ ]Behaves arrogantly and haughtily. Feels superior, omnipotent, omniscient, invincible, immune, "above the law", and omnipresent (magical thinking). Rages when frustrated, contradicted, or confronted by people they consider inferior to themselves and unworthy."

What I find SO interesting when I come to this website is the number of people who exhibit these behaviors and are so ignorant of it they don't even try and hide it. Some would say this is just a website and they are 'putting on' an act. Why would someone who is considered not Narcissistic need to put on an act like that?? Because they don't have the balls to act like this in public and save it for here??? Thats even sadder.

 

Interesting that SO many of the people diagnosed with this disorder are men.

The DSM is the Diagnostics Systems Manual, the psychological community of the US rely on this to make a diagnoses of people's disorders. To argue with its validity is too confirm your picture should be within its pages next to a diagnoses.

But then, perhaps if I hadn't gotten laid in a long time, and I was fat and semi ugly.. I wouldn't change my number and would welcome all calls..

 

That dick that I hadn't had in many a years since I am an insecure bitch with no life who does nothing but rebut shit I know nothing about, might do me some good, so I would welcome all calls from people in hopes of actually finding just that right guy who would put up with me since I'm so fucking nuts that my ex probably had to actually leave the fucking country to get away from me..

I'm not really concerned about harassing phone calls that is not the point at all...the point is ANYONE can take my home phone number and trace me right to my front door. If your not aware of that, your not as smart as you think you are...unless of course your just trying to HIDE what an idiot thing you did...Absolutely I can change my number AND do it for free however that won't change that its already out there connected to my home address.

 

Even Ang stated she knew the town I lived in based on my phone number, I imagine she has my entire address....

 

If someone wants to use my phone number too make harassing calls...there are quick and easy consequences for that kind of behavior.

The fact that you said this makes me feel obligated to say this. Posting someones name and phone number on a public internet forum as a means of spite, is below the belt. Our anonymity is all we have here. Once that is destroyed this place just isn't the same. Dangerous, irresponsible, and a clear violation of trust was displayed by this act. When an internet forum dispute is transformed into such an foul form of dirty pool, it causes all members of this forum to question their own security. There is nothing wrong with citizens wanting to take pride in their country. American citizens are frequently criticized for their nationalism but this is a natural human emotion. Exposing someone else's info on the internet during a disagreement is always a low blow. The situation in question has been remedied and the information is deleted. Hopefully the members will not have to worry about another incident like this occurring.

 

I absolutely detest suck-ups and those who perpetually take a middle-of-the-road position instead of speaking their mind. Those who allow themselves to be pushed around on a website must have difficulty functioning in every day life.

Its more then a low blow since this websites own privacy statement says they will not in fact do such a thing and goes on to talk about encryption and such on the server...

 

Now Phreak has threatened to make crank calls to me in the middle of the night...something I also read in the SB...which I hope he follows through on, when my daughter is home with me, the phone does not ring in my bedroom at all so he won't wake me up AND will end up getting to talk to my boring answering machine.
