Marvell Yukon 88E8059 NIC (HP Mini 5103) driver will not load in Windows Deployment Services

I've been driving myself crazy with this! I've searched around without much success. We have a considerable amount of HP Mini 5103's that use the Marvell Yukon 88E8059 Network Interface Card and I cannot get the NIC to work with Windows Deployment Boot images. I'm a pretty competent guy and I've been working with WDS for a couple years and I'm quite familiar with it.

I've tried the following with the drivers provided by HP and Marvell. These are the 32bit drivers and 32bit WinPE and Windows Boot Images.

I've installed the above drivers on a standard x86 WinPE image using DISM and the network interface works fine. I get NIC lights and I can ping and trace route with no problems whether I load the WinPE image via PXE or from a flash drive. (Note that the NIC doesn't work in WinPE unless I add the drivers.)

If I use the exact same drivers on a WDS boot image (just a boot.wim file found on a Windows 7 disk) and boot via PXE, the NIC drivers don't seem to load or something else is going on. I can boot to the image but once it has loaded I have no NIC lights and I get the typical WSDClient error stating that a matching network driver could not be found. I'm using the exact same drivers that worked in the regular WinPE image.

Both WinPE and WDS Boot image are x86 and the drivers are x86, and I've tried with a fresh boot image. DISM does not report any errors while adding the the drivers to images.

I've tried disabling all other onboard devices, other HP boot options, and disabled LAN Power Save feature in the BIOS. I've tried all of this on multiple HP Mini 5103, all yielding the same result.

Any ideas?
