Guest MrMatthewJacobson Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I'm working on homework for my college coursework. We're running simulation models which require a lot of logical statements to be used, and thus a lot of long formulas. After I made one simulation, I was ready to run it 1000 times in a data table under what-if analysis in the data ribbon. I accidently put in the wrong information, and as I went to correct it, I chose the top left cell and started deleting the information from the cell without realizing what would happen (I know that it was the wrong way to go about deleting the table, but it was just instinct). Once I removed all the information and clicked out, an error box appeared saying "You cannot change information in a data table." The only two things to do to remove this message was either click OK or the red X which closes windows. Either way, it would bring me back to the empty cell, and I could not click off of it without the error popping up again (nor did I know the information to type in that I had erased). Ctrl-Z did not work, and before I even attempted to erase the table, ctrl-Z would not remove the table. Because I could not do anything to get rid of this message, I had to close all of excel, losing two hours of work. This should be looked into in an update of bug fixes. In retrospect, I could've used the internet as a resource to find the proper formula, and I could have saved my data more frequently, but still, it's the principle of the matter. This is supposed to be the most sophisticated software available. I would hope it has minimal bugs and glitches possible. Continue reading... Quote
