Guest Teyha Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 I had heard from the Staples computer guy of all people, as well as son's best friend computer wiz friend, to not waste the money on buying Norton, just to use MS Security Essentials for my AV needs. Saying that Sec. Essentials is just as good (if not better) than Norton & it's free. The only thing I'll be missing is the handy little feature where it identifies if websites are recommended or not with a "good" or green check mark. (I did like that feature). But otherwise he mentioned it doesn't do anything that Sec. Essentials won't do & MS Sec Essentials is running updates on new viruses daily. I also learned that Norton can actually slow my computer down. I was originally keeping them because I got locked into 25 GB of online free file back up, but I filled that up in no time & of course the cost for more space is out rediculous. So I am signing up with Carbonite for that. So I have no vested interest in Norton what so ever. Would appreciate your best advice having lost 2 previous PC's to viruses...I get pretty worried about this stuff. Unless someone thinks I should purchase a different AV progrmam.
