Guest STV0726 Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 I theorize that we are getting very close to a final release of Microsoft Security Essentials v4. I feel this way, firstly because they have polished the GUI a bit by refining the language of the Microsoft Active Protection System (MAPS), abbreviated it to save space, and most importantly: they have brought back Default Actions, which exceeded my expectations. I am ecstatic and wish to thank the development team and everyone else on these forums that helped by voicing your opinion. I really did NOT think we would make an impact, but it goes to show you, it is worth protesting and putting your voice out there! Also, I have set all my Default Actions to quarantine. I then threw the EICAR test file at it with the bottom checkbox checked and unchecked. If you check "apply recommended actions..." it will now use the new automatic remediation system and only show you a green popup that the threats were handled and no action is needed on your part. If you uncheck that option, it will behave in the classic way where you get a red prompt with a quick "clean" button, or more details if you wish. Secondly and more interestingly...they have removed the forced participation in the Customer Experience Improvement Program. You can once again choose whether you want to join or not. This to me, is a tell-tale sign that this might just be the version that is going to be released to the public very shortly. Thanks again Microsoft and everyone here on Answers for the feedback we've all provided! Continue reading... Quote
