Guest raistlinlives101 Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 I have a 500g seagate drive I've been using for awhile. I have windows XP so my external has always just been plug and play. I have lots of files on this drive and one of which is a program I was running just last night. Well I leave my drive on my floor next to my computer and my dog just so happened to knock it over while I was running this program and I noticed my drive was beeping and it sounded like it was rubbing up against something while it was spinning. Now it didnt immidietly kill the program I was running. It was about 20 seconds before I sat it back up and the drive just continued to beep about every 3 seconds or so. But eventually after about 30 seconds my program was terminated because my pc had lost the path to it. And my drive was not showing up on my pc. I first restarted my computer which didnt work so then I unplugged and plugged it back into my pc which didnt solve the problem so I then cut the power as well before plugging it back up. So now when I plug my external into my usb drive the external powers up like my pc is attempting to read it but it cant. The external makes a soft beep about every 5 seconds for about 25 beeps before it stops while its beeping its also making a soft humming noise like a cd drive would while trying to read a damaged cd its not being able to read the data. My drive doesnt show up under my computer, my device manager, or under computer management. Continue reading... Quote
