Guest Pmacek Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 We have a computer here from a very important client, and we are having some difficulties. It is a Sony Vaio laptop that is our client's newly assigned work computer. The user before her, and the administrator have lost both passwords, and the guest account is disabled, so we have no way of logging in to the system. It is running Windows XP Professional x86. Our client had previously worked with the computer, and there are important company files and software on the system she needs to be able to access. More information on the system: The laptop did not originally come with Windows XP, it was running Windows ME originally when purchased from Sony. It was upgraded to XP at a later date. The DVD-ROM drive in the system is malfunctioning, and the system will not boot from CDs, so any attempt to run recovery software from microsoft or get into command prompt to change the password using that method will simply not work. The system does not support booting from USB, again foiling that tactic. All that can be done is access to Windows up until the login screen. I need help with either getting into the system, or getting a command prompt window open at the login screen. Computer Type: Sony Vaio Model #: PCG-954A Operating System: Windows XP Professional 32-bit (x86) If you require any more information, just let me know, and I will get back to you A.S.A.P. Many thanks for any help you can give! -Preston Continue reading... Quote
