Recent WinXP prevents Norton NIS 2012 running, and prevents Google Chrome accessing internet.

After performing routine XP update on 13th March 2012, on my WinSP3, Windows will no longer allow Google Chrome to access the web even after Chrome reinstall (although it WILL allow IE8 and Firefox access), throwing up 'Unable to access internet' and apecifying:

Error 138 (net::ERR_NETWORK_ACCESS_DENIED): Unable to access the network.

It then states that it is my Firewall preventing access.

HOWEVER, more worryingly, Windows will now not run my Norton NIS 2012!!! So I cannot change the firewall settings ! ! ! !

Is this a software conflict with a new piece of Windows update, or a piece of aggressive marketing by Microsoft?

Prior to the update everything worked perfectly.
