Why are Defender updates not separate from the main WU channel. WU notifier failed to notify.

Small point.

I like WU set to notify only and so allow me to see what updates are available and choose whether or not to install them. Security essentials (which I know is different and separate program) always updates regardless of WU settings.

If we want to use Defender it seems we are being forced to leave WU on automatic to ensure it updates correctly. I just checked in WU and there were was a Defender definition waiting but no notification ever appeared to tell me.

( I also installed updates yesterday and received the rather bizarre message that my PC would restart in 2 days time unless I manually did the job myself)
