WHICH IS THE REAL GOD?

Recommended Posts

Posted

There is strong evidence that god beliefs are all nothing more than the

creations of man.

If there was a REAL god he would destroy the thousands of false gods and

establish his authenticity, wishes and commands directly from his heaven.

If man can communicate with the whole world by Phone, Radio, the Internet

and TV it obviously would be no problem for any real god to communicate

directly with his creations.

There is an overwhelming multitude of religions and god beliefs.

They can't all be true and no real god would permit this massive deception

of his creations.

"nothing more"?

They are very telling words.

"The Mona Lisa is NOTHING MORE than pigment smeared on a flat substrate

of organic fibre."

Well ... the Mona Lisa is a great work of art - if I smeared some

pigment on a canvas or board it probably wouldnt convey much

information or provoke much emotion in the viewer.

Certainy gods ARE the creation of men - but what does adding "NOTHING

MORE" tell us?

Gods are a lot more than merely being created beings - they are created

beings that express something deep and fundamental about human beings

and how they relate to the universe.

The gods men create like the art and language that men create tell us

about what we value what we fear what we yearn for.

When you say gods are nothing more than human creations - you are

showing a contempt for human imagination human thought human feeling -

because gods are our embodiment of all these things and more.

I am godless myself - but I dont despise Humans for trying to connect

to the world outside of their own egos. Although the gods and the

religions that contain them are often ridiculous and full of fault -

there is also truth and noble yearnings involved.

You have an unbalanced view of humans and their creations.

It's very sad.

You're saying that sometimes lies are better bred and

developed than truth?

There is a certain sinisterness to breeding lies that

inhibit honest inquiry (sciences, for example), that prop up

kings and potentates (so they can rule others), and abuse

non followers (crusades and witch hunts).

Some lies might be, in some way, good. But where the intent

of a lie is to subjugate for the benefit of the liar, such a

person is evil and is an enemy of righteousness.

Yes - religion has many faults.

And yet the vast majority of humans are religious - therefore it has to

have something going for it.

Things exist for a reason.

Not every untrue thing is a lie.

Not everything which is untrue is untrue to all people in all

situations.

Not everything which is true is true for all people in all situations.

> "Nothing should be taught as true, that which cannot be

Whether or not that is sage advice depends on what you are talking

about - if you are talking about determining the melting point of

gallium then its good advice - if you are talking about whether or not

you should encourage compassion or hatred for the neighbouring tribe

then its useless.

There you go lying again Ace, for Chist never commanded anyone to kill,

There is nothing 'good' about you lying about Christ, and Christ

commanded his followers to "demonstrate" everything He wanted them to do.

I didn't say Christ commanded anyone to do anything. You're

hallucinating again.

We were talking about gods being a creation of man, and why

and how they were useful, for good and for bad purposes. My

point was that it's not all that good to breed these kinds

of lies; Richo was saying that they had a certain value.

Hey Frank, when you pollute other newsgroups with cross

posts, they can't pick up the original context from the

original thread. It's like starting in the middle of a

conversation. It's immature, often complained about, and

uncharacteristic of a person with respectful values. Thank

you for being more careful about this.

===>FALSE ANALOGY!

Humans are NOT "clay", even though the primitive creation

fable in Genesis does describe how YHWH, an extraterrestrial alien

(ELOHIM} sculpted our first ancestor out of mud (clay) and

blew air into his nose to make him alive.

Of course that is a piece of fiction created by humans, and so are

all the various and sundry ideas of "GOD".

The ONLY "real God" is the observable, explorable one which

Einstein called "Spinoza's God" -- i.e. NATURE, the eternal COSMIC

TOTALITY OF ALL EXISTENCE, not some anthropomorphic imaginary

"creator". -- L.

"Shutting up" people by intimidation, or killing them is atheist

doctrine.

Did, Tower of Babel, all tell the tale of their tribe.
