Phantom Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 It is no secret that America often serves as the world's police and personal charity organization but as a citizen, where do you think our tax dollars should be going? Should our tax money go more towards social programs for its own citizens? Let's use medical care as one example. We all know the poor get it for free and the wealthy can afford it but what about the regular middle class folk or the small business owner? Would socialized healthcare be a better way to spend our taxes as it would be assisting U.S. citizens? (Again, just an example- don't get stuck on that one issue) Or... Should things stay the way they are? Do social programs only contribute to the complacency of Americans? Would more social programs spoil our citizens? Should we continue to send billions of tax dollars in foreign aid to other countries (especially the countries that loudly protest their hatred for us)? Quote Blah.
eddo Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 as sucky as the U.S. healthcare system is, we only have ourselves to blame for it. We are a society that is to quick to sue, and that has caused malpracticve insurance to go through the roof. Frankly, I am amazed that anyone wants to be a doctor anymore. Quote I'm trusted by more women.

I read that socialized medicine will take care of the frivolous lawsuits in that it will be government sponsored and you can't sue the government but it only seems like a good idea in theory until you review the logistics (socialism sucks compared to capitalism). Not a fan of socialized medicine and I don't have all the answers but the system should be revised somehow. Regardless: Let's use medical care as one example... ParasiteGod Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 I could say let's put the money towards education... I'm still in high school. I've been in classes where students were sharing text books, but that's more because of over crowding. So let's use the money to purchase a firearm and some ammo for every American, age 16 through 75. An armed society is a polite society! Or we could use the money to build a giant space pod. We will load into it all of the religious extremists, and launch it into the sun. Awww yeahhh. Quote I want to report a double murder. If you go one mile east on Columbus Parkway to the public park, you will find kids in a brown car. They were shot with a 9mm Luger. I also killed those kids last year. Good bye Brooks, I like you. Now get out of here. Go home.

The money should be going to OUR children and school systems before other nations. Or we could use the money to build a giant space pod. We will load into it all of the religious extremists, and launch it into the sun. Awww yeahhh. . Hooray, PG! Quote Blah.
builder Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 I have the same issue with the Australian govt. We are a large country, with a small population, yet our govt. sends aid to countries when our homeless go hungry, our children lack resources at school, and our public health system is pathetically understaffed. It sucks the big one alrighty. ... Quote Persevere, it pisses people off.
Phantom Posted December 2, 2006 Author Posted December 2, 2006 I didn't know you guys were in the same boat over there. I'll be sure to post a similar thread on D&E in the morning. . . . Quote Blah.

Awww yeahhh. And don't forget the atheist extremists. Let them share the space pod with the religious extremists and install a camera onboard. That would make an entertaining reality tv show. Quote
