ParasiteGod Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 the P.A. gives police the freedom to pull you over, search your car, and interrogate you with no evidence needed, they could just think, "man, i fucking hate ford's, i bet he has a bomb in his" and instantly your day starts to suck. but i do like the sun pod, can we put the fake war heros that ran for president in front? Let them search my car; I'm not stupid enough to hide my drugs there. Let 'em search whatever they want. I don't care. Quote I want to report a double murder. snafu Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 The Patriot Act is essential to the security of our nation. It allows us to track money funding terrorism. It helps track suspected terrorists and instigators. It’s an add on to the Rico Act which was needed in it’s time. Although there have been cases brought forth, no civil rights have been violated. With the Patriot Act it dose need to be put into check to make sure it’s not abused though. Without the same sort of intelligence from the Brits and Pakistani's we would’ve have another 9-11 with the hijacking of those airliners. Funny thing, people have limited memory when the catastrophe is diverted. Quote "You can't stop insane people from doing insane things by passing insane laws. That's just insane!" Jhony5 Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Let them search my car; I'm not stupid enough to hide my drugs there. Let 'em search whatever they want. I don't care. Its not always about what the direct result of such legislation is. If you chip away at something long enough, eventually there will be nothing left. Whether or not I have contraband on me, I still don't want some fucking cop pulling me over for no just reason, asking me who I am, where I'm going, what I'm doing and whats in my pockets. Everything from seatbelt laws to the Patriot Act mesh together to smother your rights. Its the old adage, give 'em an inch and they'll take a foot. Let them keep taking, under the guise of your own protection, and eventually we will witness to utilization of random home searches. An idea that has been suggested many a time. Imagine that shit. You get a knock on your door at 6am. "You have been randomly selected for a contraband search of you and your property". Think it sounds like a bad science fiction novel? Its not. Ask me and I'll tell ya we are on the verge of just this kind of thing. In reality it would cut down on crime, drugs and terrorism. Without a doubt, shaking down people at random would see a drastic decline in crime altogether. But do we want that? I sure the fuck don't. Y'all motherfuckers keep on saying "I don't mind, I have nothing to hide". See what happens. Quote i am sofa king we todd did.
snafu Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 The Patriot Act in action... http://www.whitehouse.gov/infocus/patriotact/ The Patriot Act Has Accomplished Exactly What It Was Designed To Do - It Has Helped Us Detect Terrorist Cells, Disrupt Terrorist Plots, And Save American Lives. The Patriot Act has helped law enforcement break up terror cells in Ohio, New York, Oregon, and Virginia. The Patriot Act has helped in the prosecution of terrorist operatives and supporters in California, Texas, New Jersey, Illinois Washington, and North Carolina. Jhony5 Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 First off, let me say that legislation like the patriot act can be a great step forward to combat terrorism. My fear is the slutting of loopholes created by the PA, in order to address other issues. From your link.........The Patriot Act Reauthorization Includes The Combat Methamphetamine Epidemic Act Of 2005. This bill introduces commonsense safeguards that will make many ingredients used in methamphetamine manufacturing more difficult to obtain in bulk and easier for law enforcement to track. For example, the bill places limits on large-scale purchases of over-the-counter drugs that are used to manufacture methamphetamines- and requires stores to keep these ingredients behind the counter or in locked display cases. It increases penalties for smuggling and selling methamphetamines. OK, I'm wholly against the meth epidemic and I do see just cause for the suppression of the various components that it's made from. But what the fuck is the tie between meth and terror and patriotism? Absolutely none. Quote i am sofa king we todd did.

ParasiteGod Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Y'all motherfuckers keep on saying "I don't mind, I have nothing to hide". See what happens. Yeah I don't know. I just have this problem where I don't care. At all. And if my property was searched... either I'd get locked up or they'd be scared shitless to come back, or both. A nice bouncy room and all the free happy pills i could want? Count me in. Really, getting bothered by the cops and their moms is just one more minor annoyance for me. And I'm ok as long as they don't go up into the attic. And MSixty, I didn't see your question before, but yes, we can put the fake heroes in front. Quote I want to report a double murder. Msixty Posted December 6, 2006 Author Posted December 6, 2006 i'd just like to say this... first it's a random car search, then a house search, then we loose our guns, then we loose all freedom. i like my guns, i don't feel like having them taken away. it's not a simple law, it's a stepping stone to the ultimant loss of our rights. before you know it we will have the FBI bring us our steak knives for dinner and then take them back afterwards... WHAT?! How DARE you question the motives of the power that be? You un-patriotic scumbag. If you hate our government so much, then get the fuck out...... Personally, I fear loosing many things other than my guns...like my right to wank in private?...or maybe that whole thing your brain does..Umm..oh yeah, thinking. But yeah, agreed on the stepping stone aspect completely. "O stubborn, self-willed exile from the loving breast! Two gin-scented tears trickled down the sides of his nose. He loved Big Brother" Without your right to own a gun you wouldn't be able to fight to be able to wank when you want. No there are checks and balances. Along with conservatives on the watch. The Patriot Act is not like gun control laws in which you first have to register, then they want a background check, then they want a waiting period, Then they want to ban fullauto weapons, then they want to ban cosmetically military weapons, then they want to ban semi-autos', then they want to ban... etc. Until your walking around with a fucking stick to protect yourself (which would eventually be illegal).Well you get the picture. The right to bear arms is in the constitution. They have to pick at that bit by bit. But you know the saying " they can have my guns when they take them from my dead cold fingers!" They ain't' getting my guns. I'll bury them first. Not that the lib's aren't trying this mind you but it has nothing to do with the Patriot Act. I'm telling you The Patriot Act is the best thing to Patton! We need it. We to expand it or invoke some sort of interrogation guide lines in which known terrrosits and or combatants get the full treatment. Jhony5 Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 Until your walking around with a fucking stick to protect yourself (which would eventually be illegal).I read an article once about the dramatic increase in stabbings in Australia that occurred immediately after the implementation of some of the toughest guns laws in the world, as well as a round up of once legal firearms. Whats even more remarkable was the overall increase in violent crime and robberies, as well as oddly enough, an increase in gun crimes. A related article:"It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed, a program costing the government more than $500 million dollars. And now the results are in: Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent; Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent; Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent). In the state of Victoria, homicides with firearms are up 300 percent. Figures over the previous 25 years show a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms (changed drastically in the past 12 months). There has been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the elderly. Australian politicians are on the spot and at a loss to explain how no improvement in "safety" has been observed after such monumental effort and expense was successfully expended in "ridding society of guns." Sounds so clich Quote i am sofa king we todd did.
ToriAllen Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 I think there is an important difference between us and other 'empires'. They were greedy and tried to expand well beyond any reasonable level. Just because a country was taken over, that didn't make it a functional part of the empire. They spread themselves too thin and were left vulnerable. I don't think we will repeat history. I think we will find a new way to destroy ourselves. I have a feeling we will get to a point where we will lose our national identity all together and proceed to rip the country apart. There are too many different beliefs and ideals to be productive. Too many people come here that do not really want to be Quote Smart men learn from their own mistakes; Wise men learn from others. I refuse to engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed man.

Just because a country was taken over, that didn't make it a functional part of the empire. They spread themselves too thin and were left vulnerable. I don't think we will repeat history. This was my observation exactly. There is a huge difference between a 'World power' and a 'World Empire'. I think we will find a new way to destroy ourselves. The ideas being purposed toward this scenario aren't really new. Internal turmoil has ripped many an empire to pieces. However often was the case that the civil turmoil was the result of a conquered people eventually rising up against their new found rulers. In America we have such an overwhelming presence of foreign people whom reject American values, yet they wish to live here, voluntarily. Forced assimilation is a part of the citizenship process. I feel it doesn't go far enough. Civil service should be a part of this process. After all, many of our fathers and grandfathers died to build this freedom they wish to enjoy. Its only right that they get their hands dirty, so to speak. As to our downfall as a nation. I'm really not buying into the paranoia. I think there are far too many people that understand our strength if we remain united. Quote i am sofa king we todd did.

I thought about that when formulating my response, but the difference is the empires forcefully took countries. We just sit back and open our borders allowing those who have no loyalty to the US into our country. I think our destruction will be more complete than the other Super powers because we are not losing possessions gained through conquest.
