CANBERRA - 14 Sep 2005: Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks. A day after a group of mainstream Muslim leaders pledged loyalty to Australia at a special meeting with Prime Minister John Howard, he and his ministers made it clear that extremists would face a crackdown.

Treasurer Peter Costello, seen as heir apparent to Howard, hinted that some radical clerics could be asked to leave the country if they did not accept that Australia was a secular state and its laws were made by parliament. "If those are not your values, if you want a country which has Sharia law or a theocratic state, then Australia is not for you," he said on national television. "I'd be saying to clerics who are teaching that there are two laws governing people in Australia, one the Australian law and another the Islamic law, that that is false.

If you can't agree with parliamentary law, independent courts, democracy, and would prefer Sharia law and have the opportunity to go to another country which practices it, perhaps, then, that's a better option," Costello said. Asked whether he meant radical clerics would be forced to leave, he said those with dual citizenship could possibly be asked move to the other country.

Education Minister Brendan Nelson later told reporters that Muslims who did not want to accept local values should "clear off". "Basically, people who don't want to be Australians, and they don't want to live by Australian values and understand them, well then they can basically clear off," he said. Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spies monitoring the nation's mosques.

Hmm...How many Nations could take a page from Australian leadership? Including my own country. Sounds like Aussies took down their terrorist are welcome sign.

I want to report a double murder. If you go one mile east on Columbus Parkway to the public park, you will find kids in a brown car. They were shot with a 9mm Luger. I also killed those kids last year. Good bye

Brooks, I like you. Now get out of here. Go home.

Although the article posted above is old news, I must point out that the suspected terrorists were under surveillance by ASIO for a lengthy period of time, and recorded meetings between the arrested suspects had been in possession for months prior to their "timely" arrests. The govt was planning to pass the new anti-terror laws, and this was a prime example used to justify implementing the new laws.

The "capture" was timed to support the standing government prior to a federal election. I'd call that grandstanding.

Moving along the track after that effort, we have the Cronulla riots, purportedly a day of "taking back the streets" after Muslim Lebanese attacked a lifesaver on Cronulla beach.

The real reason for these so called "riots" was the rising tide of rapes of very young Australian girls by marauding packs of Lebanese youths, some of whom were incarcerated for up to fifty years for their repeated rapes and incorrigibly racist attitudes against Australian people in general.

The riots were a result of an almost complete lack of response by our constabulary, and a turning of a blind eye by our lawmakers, to an increase in non-sectarian violence by dual-citizenship Muslims living here as refugees.

From memory, a police station in the area was held seige by large groups of Lebanese muslims, when police officers attempted to search a vehicle stopped under suspicion of holding contraband.

We got Rupert Murdoch, and James Packer running 90 % of our press.

Sound familiar, Nazz?

Oh, but it's only fair to say that the "problem" is fairly limited to major population centres, like Sydney and Melbourne.

Seriously. Isn’t there laws on the books about the press reporting information wrong, or slanted or biased?

I'm sure there are laws there, for the informed, but who has the money to take on a multinational corporation, Nazz? They have the bucks and legal nouse to drag a case right into your bankruptcy.. and they do.

There must be some kind of governance that can be used, because what the media is doing is criminal.

The deal is, there are laws in place, to appease the buying public, but the media conglomerates are so cash-heavy, they buy their own slice of politics, by fronting cash for election campaigning. Nothing new here. Move along folks.

If it isn’t criminal it should be.

It is criminal, and it should be recognised as such. It takes a major upheavel to overturn established ways, Nazz, and the politicians that rode in on money from media moguls aren't about to approve, or even assist, the overturning of a fat cash cow, now are they?

Media reporting tactics have an effect on world wide investments, interest rates etc…. it’s a whole lot more these day then some rag being published out of some guys basement.

And that is exactly why they push so much money towards politicians, and political agendas.

On the basement news issue, yeah, that happens. The big advertising dollars are in magazines. Maybe five major influences in the whole world.

Most modern media & news print has global reach and impact.. They should be held accountable..

.

.

They are fearful of the web, Nazz. Moves are afoot to stifle internet content.

It's happened in China, Korea, and it could be coming to a town near you.

it pisses people off.

Fuckin A.

I worked with Christian Lebanese in my apprenticeship. Top fellas. Ace. No dramas. Look after you like you'd look after them. True Aussies.

Second installment. Absolute fucking arseholes. Rape your kid sister in packs of ten, and cry persecution in court. Fucking dogs. I could stake them out over an ants nest, and camp there to watch them get slowly eaten.

My 90 year old Filipino father-in-law hates two groups of people: Japs and Moros (muslims). He's got good reasons for his bigotry.

Speaking of Japanese, I just read a rather engaging novel by William Warnock, titled Frozen Secrets, about WW2 experiments on POW's.

Was unfamiliar with the term before googling. Sadly, it is easier to tame a nation than a religion.
