EU preparing to deploy security mission in Libya, if requested: draft

By Robin Emmott BRUSSELS (Reuters) - The European Union are expected to consider moving security personnel into Libya to help to stabilize the chaotic country if requested by a new United Nations-backed Libyan government, according to a draft statement seen by Reuters. Impetus for the move comes in part from fears of an uncontrolled new tide of migrants into Italy from Libya unless law and order can be rebuilt soon in the North African state. EU foreign and defense ministers will hold a special dinner in Luxembourg on Monday, when they are expected to agree to look into police and border training missions for Libya.
