Need help with IPOD! please!!

OK this really sucks.... I am so pissed right now. OK as most of you know i got an IPOD a couple weeks ago. It is like one of my favorite things. Guess what happened? Ok when we were in this Taxi/van vehicle I was listening to my IPOD then I put it away. We arive at my Nana's house I go downstairs and set my backpack on the floor. I come down stairs go on the computer, eat dinner then go and watch some of CC. I took my head phones out of my IPOD and put the IPOD back I watched some of CC like said above... After I was done I wrapped the headphones around the IPOD and put it away lol. Then I was watching my cousin play xbox I got bored so I took the IPOD out and tryed pressing play it wouldnt turn on I assumed I left it on and pressed hold while it was still on or something. I then grabbed the charger and tried charging it I let it sit there...nothing happened i started pressing buttons, unplugging it, plugging it in different ways, unplugging a chorud from the charger, plugging it back in and tons of different things. It is still not working for me. The only explanation I can come up with is I left my IPOD running and it ran out of battery and some how the damn charger got messed up. I have no clue what to do. I have been wondering for a couple hours now. I cant do anything about it right now like as in take it to a store because it is midnight. So if anyone has had a similiar problem or any help would be great. Every minute I am like "ERRR!!! my IPOD is broken!! ahhhh!!!!" then I hear my cousin be like blah blah blah lol PLEASE HELP!

Maybe you should read the manual?

hold the middle button and the menu button for a few seconds and it will reset the ipod. It wont erase your music, just reset the software.
