The End of the World is Near?

Meh. Four hurricanes have hit Florida like that before. And once, a meteor struck the Yucatan Peninsula and the Gulf of Mexico is lovely rock's crater. Once, the Ice Age turned the world climate upside down, and then right side up again.

We live on a nutty planet, in a nutty reality. Sometimes, its nuttier then usual. This is one of those times. But I don't think it means everything is going to pot and we can start building apocalyptic picket signs.

To me, this all like Chicken Little. :thumbsup:

Not necessaraly. I just think that it is simple human nature to rationilize the things we experience as having ties to larger forces beyond our control, so that way we don't feel so helpless in this nutty world.

Well, the planet has been nutty before, but that nutiness was the cause to mass extinctions sometimes, which is a scary thought. It has all happened before, and the planet didn't end, some life forms ended but others came to take their place and the planet is still here. I don't think people are really afraid of the end of the world per se, but yes of the end of the world as we know it (just like in the song). Afraid that all these events could end human life or somehow afect our survival...

Every day, philosophically speaking, is the end of the world as we know it.

Its so much easier to blame all the freakiness of 2004 on the end of the world instead of shrugging and admitting we don't know why anything happens. Human beings hate being wrong, and even more they fear what they do not understand. People don't understand why these things happen, so they fear them. And in the cases of the hurricanes and tsunami and such, they proclaim that the end is near, because all human beings fear the end of the world. Its so easy to just blame it on Armageddon instead of saying we don't know.

Personally, I think God is sending us a message, and asking us to behave ourselves for a little while. I don't think we are anywhere close to getting the four horsemen thrown our way.

The world is going to end. Death is the only thing that you are assured in this life. I dont care if I die. I also dont believe, according to my religion, that the world is about to be destroyed. Even if it was, there would be a sign and stuff, then after the sign certain things will happen, and then 40 years after those things, we will all die. I just think people, especially the goddamned enviornmentalists try and use natural disasters as an excuse so people will stop and be "good" to the enviornment. But if it is the end of the world, I wish to complete a few more good deeds, and then imphale myself with my reverse blade katana.

i don't know if i'm totally out of the topic but, i read sumthing like the universe is expanding and getting cold, and this cold age would kill any inteligent life even if we change parts of our bodies to mechanical parts. it's really interesting, don't tell only about the end to the earth but of all the universe.
