Today, less than 1 hour ago, the Vatican released the name of the 265th pope, Cardinal Redzinger, who has taken on the name Pope Benedict 16th.

 

At age 78, I foresee a new pope vote by 2015.

 

Oh, did I mention he is German? Was it not the German peoples who slaughtered hundreds of thousands of non-Arians, including Christians??? A lot of people are going to be super pissed! A man who stands for all the anti-catholicism from his nation now leads the religion. Awww shit, CNN said he was pro-choice for homosexual partnerships too.

I don't think I could disagree more with you.

First, his name is Joseph Ratzinger. That's not that important but I had to include that.

It was not the German people who slaugthered Jews, gypsies and other "unworthy" people as they called it, it was Hitler, Himmler and the rest of the nazis who did it. The soldiers who did Hitler's will did it of fear of dying themselves. Disobey Hitler's orders:You're shot in your very footsteps. I doubt that I myself would've had the courage to stand up against Hitler and the SS and the SA at that time.

Joseph can very well be catholic although his country isn't. How can you say he isn't catholic based on these "facts" of yours? This is BS. People will be pissed? If they'll be pissed then they'll be pissed bc he is super-ultra-über-conservative like happy with my pain rightly pointed out.

about the assassination, john paul II was shot, but it wasnt fatal. you can bet someone somewhere hates the pope and will do anything to take him down. i dont want that to happen, but it could and probably will. and since he's 78, he could last 6 years to be 84, the age that the last pope died, so there probably will be another vote by or before 2015.

I'll certainly chill out, but I don't consider this a bit of fun. I'm not German, but Germans have had to suffer enough for what the nazis did in WWII. That has got nothing to do with the new pope being German! How do people even come to that conclusion? I don't understand that. Leave the poor Germans out of this. This pope is controversial, but let's not add in stuff about the nazis only because the pope is German. That's illogical.

Yeah, since he is very controversial he might very well be assassinated. That is a crime I can't describe with words, murdering a person. And I think making money of him dying by betting on it is just as bad.

Hyper, you're right, why would he leave if he believed in it? That does not make sense. It's a good thing if he left, that shows that he didn't believe in that. But, those are just rumours, so I'm not sure if that is really the truth that he actually was a soldier at 14. He might've been part of the Hitler Jugend, but then again joining that wasn't optional.

Clogz, you're right too. Not many volunteered for the German army, not that they needed that. Hitler just drafted and drafted. That's why you can't blame the German people for this. That's as stupid as protesting that the Pope be German, just because nazis originate in Germany.

I don't think he was voted bc of his age, he is rather old for a pope. Most other popes were younger when they were elected, like John Paul, wasn't he around 60-65 when he was elected?
