How old were you when you got your first Mobile / Cell phone?

My dad wouldn't let me get my first mobile phone till I was 14 (After a lot of begging saying all my friends had one lol). It was like a brick back then lol. But now my little sister wants one and she only has to wait till she's 12 o_0 He use to think they were bad and does stuff to your brain and stuff, but now pretty much all my siblings have one, in case we're out and he wants to contact us and tell us to come home right this minute =D Don't know how that changed but anyway...

My first one was when I just turned 12, it was my birthday party and my mom gave me her old one cuz I got enough birthday money to buy minutes. Now I have a newer one that I got a few months ago.

Well the phone was a really old, used 1 and every other month I had to buy more minutes. Then with my new phone, I bought it with my own money but my mom still pays the bill. Im only 13 now but all most friends basically have one.

People should be like, 18 before they get a cell phone. MOST kids between 8-16 do not have any phone manners. I was on public transit once and this girl (about 14) had her legs on three seats, dressed like any two cent trash bag ho thinking she is queen shit. I had my headphone on listening to music and I could hear her bloody conversation over my music, word for god damn word. I never wanted to choke a minor more than at that point. She was utterly disrespectful and loud. She was disturbing a whole bus of passengers talking to her friend about how some 14 year old guy can not "date her" and by "date her" I mean hold her hand and pass her notes in class. She continued on to say someone else asked her out first, blah blah blah. Young teenagers think that their life is so involving that if things do not go their way, the world is over and if they do not have a cell phone in which to be loud on and talk about the most mundane things about, they do not have a purpose in the social structure.

 

 

I was 18. I bought my phone, my corporate plan and every special enhancement on my plan. I do not wash dishes or walk the dog so my parents can pay my $100 phone bill. I do it myself. It should be a law, 18 to have a cellphone. Too many young teens use them unwisely and are ubnoxious and loud when using them. No phone manners and not using it for any purpose for relevance. Uggggggh, I hate most people ages 13-21. My generation sucks.

I got mine when I turned 16 or 17 (not really sure). I didn't really want a cell phone because it sounded controlling to me, meaning I wouldn't be able to go out withoug my parents knowing because with just a phone call they could be calling all "Where are you, young lady??" and stuff like that but my aunt gave it to me for my birthday, so I kept it, not too excited about it. But then I started using it and I got sort of addicted lol I'm in constant touch with my friends and stuff hehe I really like my cell phone now ^_^

i don't think it should be a law that you're 18. that just makes it.. stupid. a cellphone isn't a drug, and it can't alter your mind. but yeah, i agree with you, people talk way to goddamn loud on em lol. i'm only 16.. so if it was a law i wouldn't be able to get one, but see, i have a job, and i pay for it on my own. and i actually use it for relevant reasons, ie my mom had cancer when i was younger, so she has my phone on speed dial if she needs anything, and my girlfriend calls me when she is in a bad mood, that may not seem relevant to you, but it is to me hehe

 

i basically agree with you tho, cept for the law..
