Hey, I feel kinda weird posting this in the dark room since it isn't a really "dark" problem, but I need help either way.

 

I recently joined my school's newspaper crew and I've never been in anything like that so I just thought they give us something to write about and we do it. But that's not how it goes. You gotta figure out your own topic and write about that and have pictures. Now, I'm usually a very creative person, but only when I know what I have to write (or draw) about. And I don't. So help. What can I write about???

 

Subjects that other people already called:

 

Music, Fashion, Interviews, Jokes, Cover Art, The i-pod Trend and Katrina. What else is there?!

Movies.

A subject you like, such as Psychology or Chemistry or something.

School issues (what's going on in the school, problems, that sort of thing)

Games.

Linkin Park?

I don't know what sort of thing you're after really, but there are a few suggestions anyhow.

You could do Movie reviews... or a crossword, lol. Are you any good at writing stories? You could do a fictional story, which could have a new chapter written every issue... *shrugs*

I did the same thing. Most people in my High School remembered me as the guy in the dark sunglasses.

 

So, that in mind, I had my own column called "From Behind The Shades".

 

It was a column where I could vent frustrations or say witty things, usually left to rhetorical one liners.

 

Something like:

 

-If one synchronized swimmer drowns, do the rest have to drown too?

-Why do we sing "Take Me Out To The Ball Game", when we are already there?

-You know, the fastest growing trend of red neck hunting is obviously hitting a deer with your truck.

-Have you ever taken a line shot to the face with a soft ball? Is it really that soft?

 

I must stop. The old days are getting to me. I was a bit of a cynic. Sue me.

This belongs in General, first off.

Second, I happen to be editor of my school's newspaper, and this is my third year in the class. I would suggest, if you can't come up with something interesting on your own, write a story ona fall sport? Do you have a football team? Soccer? Volleyball?

You could also possibly interview any new teachers at the school this year. You could also write a movie review.;

These are just a few ideas. I hope they help.

Exactly what I was thinking. You could poll people about their internet habits. Favorite websites, time spent online, etc.

okay, well i got very, very, very stuck as to what movie i had to do, so when the deadline came i still had NO movie. they pushed the deadline 'till friday, so if you guys could PLEASE give me tips on what movie i could do. it has to be suitable for people fom like 13 to 18/19 or something. but because i felt like i had to put SOMETHING in there...i put this:

To me, P.S.C. is definitely the best school,

We have all these teachers that are so calm and cool.

 

All the languages that are an obligation,

And funny teachers who manage to break your concentration.

 

Like Mr. Riedijk or Mrs. Kraetzer for that matter,

Or our stupid schoolbags that keep getting fatter and fatter.

 

All the creative stuff like music, drama or art

They’re so much fun, ‘cause to take them, you don’t HAVE to be smart :-)

 

Then you have the harder ones like natuurkunde or chemistry,

You need a good pack of brains for these…DEFINITELY

 

Our schoolyard is huge and our classrooms small

And just entering this school is not a free-for-all.

 

A bed reputation will never bring us down,

‘Cause, to me, P.S.C. is a king without a crown.

Poverty

 

Little children reaching out their tiny hand,

Hoping that you’re one of the few who can understand

How much they need love, food and care

But all they can grasp is everlasting fear

 

People dying all around them for lack of nutrition

How can you force them to work in that kind of condition?

Part of the scenario is bodies on the street

Or little children in the sun, walking bear feet

 

How can such a world exist within our own?

How can such small children be left abandoned and alone?

 

While we lay comfortably in our bed

They dream of being fed

While we whine about calories

They whimper about unpaid salaries

 

50.000 children die of extreme poverty every day

You think that’s normal? That’s not okay!

So, please, do something and give these kids a chance

Pull them out of their grueling, everyday dance.

Peter Stuyvesant is my school (duh) and poverty is something people at my school just don't pay any attention to and i want them to. i had another one in dutch, but it's pointless to post it here
