EVERY THEORY HAS A

FORBIDDEN MEANING

 

A look into one of AMN's top performers

 

 

Every group has a meaning to them, they all have ways of showing true perfection. But that always seems the case of underground group, Forbidden Theory, all of which have been friends since elementray school in Virginia have grown together to make underground music that has caught the eyes and ears of many underground fans. Their debut underground album, "Hidden Truth", released July 25 has already sold out. It's 13 song collection is not one to overlook. It's elements of Alternative Metal and Hard Rock mixed with Urban Hip-Hop given the band a nice Rap-Metal/Nu-Metal has grown through the underground world quickly giving notice to several underground Producers. The heavy, hardcore, catchy and sometimes hip-hop guitar and bass riffs combined with beat pounding drumming throws the band in direction of the Deftones and POD with several sample and piano loops influenced by Linkin Park and the use of scratch guitar, which has not been heard in the underground world, is truely incredible. Guitarists Ronald Corder and Larry Thompson, Bassist Ramin Ghodampour, and Drummer Chris Ashton shine bright on great heavy rap/rock tracks such as "Escape", "Until The End", and "My Own Way." The riffs sound even more in depth when the samples loops are added on soaring tracks as "Silhouettes" and the heavy ballad of "Reflections."

But the true genesis has to be in the lyrics written by Singer/Screamer Brandon Burgess and MC Justin Slover that bring out the greatness in them. Both trade of styles of rapped verses, singing verses, singing choruses, rapped bridges, screaming bridges, rapped pre-choruses. Slover shows his potenial in several songs showing several unique ways of rhyming like in such tracks "Believe In You" were talks about people being too afaird of their freedom and not wanting to capture what inspired him. He raps: "Their too pulled down in their slavery / And they are never too brave to see / To look at all things chasing me / And see what it is they gave to me". He goes on to rap about everyone coming together and standing united. The track, "Until The End", finds Slover rapping about feeling a friend's pain and bringing them in when no one will, he raps: "Feeling your pain / And your feelings attack me again / I've never seen you look so shattering / I look past the bad thoughts you had and then / I take you in from all the distractions". Slover always spends time playing keyboard on songs "Undertow", "Losing My Grip", and "Six Feet Under" where he drops magnificent keyboard and sample loops to make the song sound more dramatic and unforgettable. His partner in crime, Brandon Burgess, provides heart warming singing mixed with his own Nu-Metal scream. Tracks like "Believe In You" and "Reflections" finds him letting loose iin the bridge. The most unique on the album is "Losing My Grip" where the guitars have seemed to be set aside with a more drumming and keyboard style song with the scratch guitar heard in some spots. Burgess sings the track solo with amazing singing that can be heard from only so few. The heavy fast paced track of "Counting On Me" shows the group breaking away from someone who has betrayed them, Burgess and Slover trade off on the chorus by detailing: "I'm tired of being your slave / always counting on me to take the blame and it makes me sick / Trying to get me to stay / Because your counting on me to take the blame and it makes me sick". But it's the final track, "Six Feet Under", where the group shows most of their emotion directed toward the death of a good friend of cancer which they through out tell that this person is now in a better place. The band has also made an EP album with 5 tracks not included on the album which has yet to surface in the underground world but some songs have been played at shows. Earlier this summer, Forbidden Theory launched their own headlining underground tour known as the "THEORY WORLD ORDER TOUR" featuring opening acts Better Left Unsaid, Eternal Rest, and My Summer Tragedy. Later, the band jumped on their second tour the summer as headliner with My Lost Cause and Heavy Reckoning on the "UNDERGROUND BAND TAKEOVER TOUR" with opening acts from Stutterfly, Deadside, Mindflaw, Awaiting Exile, and Deeds Of Mercy. Forbidden Theory is now re-creating their new website with better images and animation. They are scheduled to film a video for "Counting On Me" later this month and are mapping out more shows for the next few months. Weither the rap/rockers are signed to a major label or not, they have left their mark in the underground world of music.
