azemkamikaze03 Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 Okay, first off, I dont give a damn that this CD was made by Mike. Im gunna review this like I want. If you dont like it well I have a litte box with a check in it. Click it then Click the Dissaprove button put ur reason and click enter  Now that I got this out of the way, im going to break down each song and tell you its fualts and goodness. Then ill talk about the album as a whole. Slip Out The Back This song is good. It's the last song on the cd. Nice beat. It's just lacking. He really has like one verse. He has one in the begging but it just goes through to quick. It reminds me of dedicated were hes like" i met a bum out on sunset street" Except this song more of a eeire feel. It's good but i feel as though there just aren't enough verses. Plus like he talks about how this guy tells him to slip out the back. And he describes the guy, then out of nowhere he starts talking about why he left. It's kind of confusing. You really have to take the time to listen to it in orderr to get the gist. But in the end that Piano solo. I MADE THAT lol i play that every day since like forever. Overall this track is pleasing: 8.9 The Battle When I heard the preview for this I was like Oh shit! A freestyle! OMFGoodness. Then i was like what a waste. Then I was like SMART ASS. Ever listen to the lyrics? It was a punch line! It sounds like thier showing a statement about Iraq. I may be wrong, but notice how that how was the punch line was the most vivid. I still think they should have played the other verses and made it more interesting. But hey. It was a let down. Overall this is alright...consider it a intermission: 6.2 Red To Black Well. Easily one of the best tracks on the CD. Why? It IS a Linkin Park song. It just is. You cant say that doesn't sound linkin parkish. All we need is some distorted guitars and turntables and chesters vocals. Tak's verse is purdy good but Ryu's is awesome. I love this track. It's kind of a short track and I think the first time when they hit the hook the guy shouldnt have like sang it so soft he shoulda sang it like he sang it the second time. Awesome song. I love it. Like I said easily one of the best. The lyrics are pretty simple but its good stuff. Overall you should know: 9.1 Kenji* Afraid of the Germans...afriad of the Japs...but most of all afraid of a homeland attack. Okay this is an awesome story he flows through. The way he raps is kind of rough. It has a bit of a uncomfortable flow at some points but its good. I like how they have his father and his grandmother(IT IS HIS GRANDMA) speaking about the expirience instead of the hook. Overall he has a little to much detail but tis good : 9.3 High Road Best Song on The Album. This song has everything you could want. An awesome hook, good lyrics. Simple and eargasm giving beat. You just wanna bounce ur neck to this flow. He finnaly lets out some steam and its just good ness. Great song. Jon Legend spits out a great performance and mike hold them verses firmly. Overall : 9.6 Cigarettes Awesomely great song. Lol. Nah its good stuff. Kind of slow but he has a excelent metaphor/simile. He's speaking the truth and it has a nice flow. But it kind of gets boring after a while. Good lyrics just kinda slow. And in the end was kinda gay were he keeps repeating about givin second hand rap. Overall : 8.6 Belive Me OMF BACKSTREETS BACK...ALRIGHT! Thats what I think of when I hear this song. But after the second time i was like hmmm not to shabby. This song is fairly decent enough to not fail. It has a bit of an oxymoronish/ironic type feel to. Like the beat sounds like something kind of happy boombapish then the lyrics about breaking up, but it serves well enough. HOWEVER, that drum solo was so fagish. I dont know who was thinking of that but honestly WTF. Its not a horrid song just not an excelent. Overall: 8 Get Me Gone This song started it off. The it ended. Litterally it just ended moved on to the next song High Road. WTF this song was coming out hard, then it just stopped. It had an Eminem kind of feel to it. This should have been a whole song with a hook and AT LEAST 2 verses. It's kind of funny, and I like it. Just this song had a lot of potential and could have been genious. Oh well. Overall: 8.4 Where'd You Go? Im a gangster. But im not cold hearted. Every once in a while i just try to reflect on life. I just sit and think about how much I miss my girl. Im a thug, but I have feelings. Believe it or not I am human. This song helps me just chill and take it easy. Holly Brook takes her vocals and saranades me into a solid state of peace and tranquilty. I love this song. It's my 2nd favorite song on the whole regular album. It has a peaceful vibe that just keeps your mouth shut and lets you think as you stare out the bus and look forth onto the world. Overall: 9.4 Right Now Spray Paint and Ink Pens Part II. This one colaberates a bunch of minature stories. On Mikes verse he intertwines a lot of ppls lives together, Ryu's gives you the perspective of a soilder, Tak has like a broke mans view. But B. Thought kills* the track. He lights a fire up under the other guys asses. Notice his verse really brings it together and totaly earned the right to be the last verse on that song. Love the song. Overall: 9 Petrified Now back when It was Petrified vs RTN, alotta ppl sed pet. was better. Well alot of people changed their minds. Okay, mike worse song to make a single. Dont get me wrong i like the song alot, but RTN is a way better song. Anyways, a weird sounding beat with verses that repeat themselves. Not much to this song, its cool i enjoy jamming to it but its just kinda faggish. Not a personal fav. Overall: 7 In The Stereo Nice song. The beat sounds a little cheezy, but its good enough. Nice flow. Kinda slow for shit talkin track. Hook is kinda fruity but it serves well. MOre of a mainstream sound but its good. Overall: 8 Back Home THIS IS A GOOD SONG. Its good i liked it. THe beat isnt exactly Awesome but it has a fair enough tone. Now what turns people off from this song it the first verse. There is a reason why I hate Common. This is one. He screwed over the whole song. When i first heard him I switched the song becuase it was sounded gay. But I gave it a chance and played the whole thing. The rest of the verses are awesom and kind of make up for Commons lack of lyrical talent. I appriciate this track. Common killed it in a bad way. Overall: 7.1 Feel Like Home Beat sounds all old school and shit. But I love it. It's good stuff. Nice flow to it. Ryu and tak lend their voice to this track and hold their part of the tracks up. Not much to it. Overall: 8.2 Remember The Name When I first heard the album version I felt like a gitty catholic school girl. It lifted my expectations for this album soo high its crazy. It's tied for my favorite song. Alot of ppl will be like omg wtf! THat only becuase we've been hearing this song for like ever now. I still love it. It amps me up. Ryu's verses are so ill its like daaayum. This is the song that got all my friends hooked on FM. Petrifed is the one that unhooked them. I love this song Overall: 9.6 Intro Heh. you kidding me. What happened to cheap shots excelent one? That little sound effect thing that we herd on the original FM site...got nothing it came out soo gay. The intro gets me bored sad and lamed. Nothing exciting..well it did sound like a train coming at u and that its about to get loud. Overall: 3 Fort Minor The Rising Tide Good Cd. Slow Cd. Not made for ur walkman. Your Car...yeah sure...jus not your walkman. This CD is good for Mikes first. Dedicated was such a good song and so was high volatage...I was hoping for something more like that...but instead i got this. And ill tell you one thing im glad. Alot of stories in this CD. The only thing is that it wont sell phenomonly. Drugs, streets, and Ho's sell. Not everyone will appriciate this lyrics. I mean honestly tell me what 50 cent fan is going to want to hear about some japanese in an internment camp? It's hard for a general music fan to like this CD. I like it dont get me wrong, but I dont think its going to transpire a whole new wave of fans. I had such high expectations when I heard the RTN leak. 100 Degrees, There They Go, SP&IP, Get It, Dolla all deserved to be on the regualar CD, but then again alot of the songs on the cd are so good its hard to choose. I think if mike is just doing this to get some rap in his system then its fine, but if hes trying to capture a new audience he made some bad moves The average song earned about a 8.25 So my final rating is this a 3.5/5. Buy or Dont? Buy the Regualr Cd if your not to sure. The buy special edition if u find out u love it. *When I say B thought killed the track i meant it as in he did good. *The reason why Kenji isnt my fav becuase looking from a marketing and trying to get ur music out perspective...its a weak song. Besides people who actually really pay attention to the lyrics...the rest of the world isnt going to give a damn becuase the song isnt really catchy. But i did love it nonetheless  1 Quote ¿whysoserious?
Stenners Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 High Road? Best song on the album? I guese everyone is entitled to an opinion but the is already topics about this. Quote Delete my account, the is no reason why it should be against standard procediure, do it do it do it. Or LPF Sessions 3 leaks before it's done and Spoilers will be posted for every film release. Hahninator Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 You can't rate High Road ahead of Kenji. There's just no way. And yeah, it was his AUNT on Kenji, not his GRANDMA -_- Quote
Vash_the_Stampede Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 Red To Black Well. Like I said easily one of the best. The lyrics are pretty simple but its good stuff. Over well you should know: 9.1 This is the only thing I will say, If it is so Linkin Parkish, then how is it the one of the best tracks? This is not Linkin Park, this is Fort Minor. A completely different genre. Quote Good bye, auf wiedersehen, adiós, sayonara Gone
djwakka Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 My top three of the Rising Tied album has to be... High Road - 9.7 Great flow, and an excellent hook by R&B artist John Legend. I expect this one to become a single so enjoy it while its not on the mainstream. "HIGH SCHOOL DROPOUT, NO CLASS!!" Kenji - 9.4 Mike Shinoda, SOLO!! What more could you ask for? Great beat, lyrics were simple but had meaning and emotion. Some rhymes were awkward but the concept and performance was orgasmic. Plus, I can relate because i have Jap blood in me. Right Now - 9.2 "...Starin at his laptop, tryin to get inspired" A good song and a nice intro towards the rest of the album. All the other songs were pretty nice. The only dissappointment I had was with Mike Shinoda. He explained how he would have somewhat deeper lyrics since the concentration is of hip-hop and not Linkin Park. In his rhymes, good ol punchlines were rare and I expected more than verses almost parallel to Hybrid Theory and Meteora. Most lyrics are basically, what it is. There is no really thought provoking lyrics for the listener. If your a hip-hop fan like myself, hip-hop songs are supposed to move you and question your view, and question the lyrics. Interpret what the lyrics mean, but you can't do that with Fort Minor's release. "Cigarettes" for example, Shinoda blatantly explains how he sucks in lies of some rap artists because he 'needs' it. Don't get me wrong, his flow and voice is great, but no one seems to see through the context of the lyrics. But i guess its better for the mainstream if there's less to figure out and it's all comprehensible to them. Overall: 9.4/10 Quote If you start feeling offended when a ridicule begins It's God who gives the gifts so you can take it up with Him http://www.sucksbbs.net/data/MetaMirrorCache/54bb2a153af0bf7cdc7baec66119e65f.gif

Stenners Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 The Honest Opinion, The Honest Review 01. Intro I never really carred for intros, and if they do put intros they have to be done right like the Intro to Skull and Bones (Cypress Hill) being a prime example of an intro well done. This would be another good example though not the best one I ever heard its still much better then alot of intros on many albums. 6/10 02. Remember The Name The strongest single and one of the stronger tracks, lyrically fair not great however. The topic of the song is fairly standard its your generic how hard it is to write a rap album and how much effort I put in it now im telling you. 8/10 03. Right Now Strong story saying about how things can change just like that, as the song states and its very true. The chrous on this is easy to sing too though it's not outstanding this track also features well done Piano. One of the standouts on the album. 9/10 04. Petrified I dont know why they put this track after Right Now although not totally out of place on the album with tracks such as In Stereo and There They Go being fairly similar in that they are more up beat. Lyrically this track is very simple, at times too simple for its own good. Not the best track on the album but it certainly isn't the worst. 6/10 05. Feel Like Home Lyrically, it's easily one of the best tracks on the album and the good thing is they have a beat to match the standards on the lyrics. Back to the personal stories after the lets get down and party track that was Petrified. All of the verses are creative with the main subject how the world some times treats you like shit gives the track a great deal of potential with poetic expressions. 9/10 06. Where'd You Go? Lyrically very sound, the track talkin about Mike and that he is away from home too much. It even explores the territory of thinking about quiting the industry to spend more time with his Family. A big subject and done well but you got to feel that this track really could of been so much more. 8/10 07. In Stereo Change of mood again but unlike the fate Petrified sufferd this track doesnt feel like it's on th wrong album. A suprisingly heavy beat accomponied by a thumping chorus makes this track a winner, does a better job then Petrified at being a party track. 8/10 08. Back Home IF the album had a filler this would be it! It reaks of being a filler the beat is uninspired and uninteresting the bridge really is poor the chorus aint that great either. The end of the track has its strong point with a change in direction with the beat. Lyrically not too bad but not that interesting. This track reaks of being one of those tracks that seems to have been rushed out to fill up space on the album. 3/10 09. Cigarettes If anything let down the track it was the beat, though not terrible it needed something better! WHY? This is easily the smartest piece of work on the album. The lyrical comparrision of cigarettes to rap music is done superbly. 7/10 10. Believe Me If you saw a Thumb in your bag of chips you would clearly nknow it doesnt belong! Well this is the case for this track it's much faster, light and more pop then the rest of the album. Problem? Yes, whilst Petrified seemed slightly out of place this is just something else. The chorus is synthed up which is good..... if you like N'Sync and the Backstreet Boys. This track is nothing but a unit shifter which its only saving grace is it host some great flow and a killer Bongo solo by Bobo. 4/10 11. Get Me Gone MIKE! I thought you was going to forget LP for this album *tisk tisk* but lyrically it is very good . The beat is also great such a shame its about 2mins long. And Mike you sound paranoid man! Chill lol. I wish this was 2mins longer and Back Home was ditched all together. 12. High Road John ledgend does a good job however the lyrics by Mike are pretty boastful, the beat is solid n all but it seems a bit too boastful. Mikes flow could probably be a lil better though I dont think he did that bad of a job. The Chrous is pretty cool though. 7.5/10 13. Kenji Deap story about his family who got put in detention centers in their own country following Pearl Harbour and Japans involvment in the war. Lyrically good okay the flow could be better but the beat is hot and it tells a story that many rap artists can't tell creative and most important.... true. 9/10 14. Red To Black The rock rap piece on the album, and just because of that dont make it an LP'ish song, could be something they would do but the comparissions have just go to stop! Im sure if someother rapper did the track they would say it they would just say its rap rock lol. Its done very well and is one of the high pieces of the album the chorus is awesome. 9/10 15. The Battle The freestyle would make more sense as we dont hear a battle, punchline was weak......... 1/10 16. Slip Out The Back Very nice beat, the build up used on it is awesome but again i get the feeling it could of been alot longer then it was..... The track is confusing not sure what its about... A farther? A rapper? whatever its got an awesome climax. 7/10 17. Be Somebody (Bonus Track) Track still seems boring to me, could been alot more. The beat is dull Holly's chorus is pretty dull and standard too. Again seems more like a filler then anything lyrically could be better. The jist of it is how people said he couldnt make it but he did.... the end. He also thanks the people that tried to stop him. I could swear I have heard that story before hmmmm. Lupe did alot to save this track his verse is awesome and blows Mike out of the water. 5/10 18. There They Go (Bonus Track) Production on this is fair I feel it coulda been louder and more in your face then it actually is. Sixx John is hot on this track and I see a good future in his career. Not as good as In Stereo but better then Petrified, deffinatly a track to whip on at a club though. 7.5/10 19. The Hard Way (Bonus Track) Reverb on drums..... dont usualy like it this heavy but it works on this track. The reasson bonus tracks are pressed onto disc is shown here. Its original, the lyrics are awesome too but again Mike ur a lil paranoid. The Chorus is better then Believe Me's chorus (linked them up cause really not much else to link too) the best bonus track and if your gonna get a special ed it will be for this song . 8/10 Overall: Decent album in all but the are just some flaws that wont go! The order the tracks are set are deffinatly not the best Petrified and In Stereo shoulda been next to each other and Believe Me... well I dunno shoulda been replace by Spraypaint and Inkpens. The is variety here, not many memorable hooks to sing too production wise... its great Mike is a talented producer just not an awesome rapper though he has his moments. The special guests did well exept for Common although he did appear on the weakest track on the album. With few exceptions the album is a very good listen. Stereo Rating: 8/10 - Got some great beats good if u have a woffer in some cases. Songs to chill too also. Walkman Rating: 6/10- Has to be said this really isnt one for your MP3 player or Walkman it just doesnt have the energy. When your walkin home other then on Petrfied, In Stereo and There They Go you dont really find yourself walkin or jogging to the beat. Overall: 7.5/10 Quote Delete my account, the is no reason why it should be against standard procediure, do it do it do it. Or LPF Sessions 3 leaks before it's done and Spoilers will be posted for every film release. Not to mention periodic troll invasions.
acdcrules04 Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 alrighty after listening to it for like 5 hours here's my vertict: Remember the Name: Good way to intruduce yourself. Awesome beat. Very catchy. Right Now: Loving the piano on the song. Very heavy song lyricly. The only part I don't like is the verse about Iraq, it just comes out of nowhere. Petrified: I've loved this song since the begining. Love the beat and the lyrics, all around an A+ song. Fell like Home: This is my least favorite song on the album. It doesn't hold my attention, is just there. Like Hamid said, Common killed it. Where'd you Go: This is one of my favorite's! (Of course I'm a chick, but whatever.) When I listen to this song, I feel like I'm in Anna's shoe's. It would definitly hard to have someone that you love not quite gone but not quite there. It's odd to hear Mike say Fuck, but I got over that quickly. Holly and Jonah make this song feel very complete. In Stero: This song is the SHIT!! Oh my god, this song makes me want to have a block party! Back Home: Good song, but Common killed it again. I have never been a fan of Common. the song is dope though, the beat is killer. Cigarettes: []D. []. /v\. []D. what else can I say. Very real song. Believe Me: This song has definitly grown on me. Bobo is awesome. I still hate chorus. Get me Gone: Meh, so-so. High Road: Decent song. John is awesome in this song, the piano is killer. Kenji: Easily the best on the album, I was blown away. God, to go through that kind of racism.... wow. I really like that he added the Artist's Note: "I used the word "Jap" in the song KENJI for historical accuracy. As we all know, this word is not acceptable today. Do not mistake its presense here for an indicator that I think it is cool. It is not." I really resepct that Mike for that. I hate that rapper's use racist word like Nigger, and think that they can say it, but since I'm white I can't. That's fucking racist. Red to Black: Very cool song. It hit's home for me, very powerful. The Battle: How gay. Slip out the Back: Hahn Represent! lol. I love the lyrics and the sampling. Overall Album: **** stars. Songs like "The Battle" really disapointed me, but other than that, Kick-ass! Quote http://www.sucksbbs.net/data/MetaMirrorCache/bb2dcf01aaef6417df375864d8457158.gif myspace|peta2
Brkng_Th_Hbt Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 I like the album a lot, but I found it totally unneccesary to say "fuck" in almost every song. I just don't see Mike as the person to do that, so I think he did it for shock value, or because he thought it would be cool.. which is really isn't. Kinda immature. >_> but Like I said in the other thread, I give it a 8.5 out of 10. Quote v v v v[broken External Image]:http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/3880/bannervq9.png click here for buttsecks

The sense in which Mike uses it is not vulgar at all and if you're passed Junior High, you'll throw "bad" words around left and right without knowing it. DJ BloodFrost Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 01. Introduction - Everybody stop knockin' the intro. It kicks ass. There's a reason it's called the INTRODUCTION. Because it's not the best song on the album. If it was, the album would only have one track, and that track would be called the INTRODUCTION. Stop treating it like it's some sort of desecrating piece of shit. The intro is good, leave it alone. 9/10 02. Remember The Name - The flagship of Fort Minor. Wouldn't be The Rising Tied without it. 9.5/10 03. Right Now - Nice follow-up to RTN. Instruments fit well into the track. Lyrics are awesome too. 9.5/10 04. Petrified - Only one thing wrong with this track...it's not long enough. 8.5/10 05. Feel Like Home - Incredible scratching, vocals, and musical samples. One of my favorite tracks. 9.5/10 06. Where'd You Go - 10/10, simply becuase Mike understands what his wife probably feels like whenever he's gone for months at time while on tour. It's rare you find an artist who gives a shit about that. 07. In Stereo - TURN IT UP MOTHERFUCKERS!!! 9.5/10 08. Back Home - What I think ruined this track is the musical instruments. The percussion is great, but the music (especially the annoying guitar-ish sample at the beginning that you hear through the ENTIRE SONG) killed it for me. I think it would have been better with no actual music at all, just drums and vocals. 6/10 09. Cigarettes - Awesome sarcastic lyrics, orgasmic music. It's about time somebody goes after every rapper who contributes to the delinquency of today's teenagers. 15/10, simply because Mike has the balls to make a track like this. 10. Believe Me - 9.5/10. It would be 9/10, but since they put an instrumental on the FMM DVD, Mike gets brownie points from me, lol. Great lyrics and music. And the layered singing in the chorus is GREAT. 11. Get Me Gone - Started out good, but then ended abruptly. Should have been longer. 8/10 12. High Road - My least favorite track (not counting The Battle). In my opinion, it's not hip hop enough for this album, and I'm not crazy about the singing either. This is the one song on the album where the piano was overused. My rating would be about a 2 if Mike didn't insult his opponents. 5.5/10. 13. Kenji - OK, people. Just because this song is about his family's hardships during WWII doesn't automatically make it the best song on the album. I'm not being mean. and I'm not being racist. I'm just saying the truth. Kenji is a great song with awesome lyrics, but I don't think the time signature is appropriate for the song, and it could have been a longer track as well. Mike worked it well, but in my opinion it could have been better. I think he should have insulted the government more for what they did to his family. Had it been me making this track, I would have. 8.5/10 14. Red to Black - Excellent track. Don't worry, no LP comparisons from me. However, I do have to say that while the singing is incredibly rock-like (reminds me of Jonathan Davis on 1STP KLOSR), that doesn't stop this song from being hip-hop. Very well constructed. 9/10 15. The Battle - I don't know what the point of this track was. It's only about one inch higher on the SUCK SCALE than the two 4-second tracks between tracks 16 and 19 on the Special Edition. There's about 15 minutes unused on the Special Edition of TRT, and Mike only made this track 30 seconds long? And this is the only time we see Celph Titled, other than on the mixtape. I think that's unfair to Celph Titled. Were it me on this track, I would be pissed. 4/10 16. Slip Out The Back - I relate too much to this song to give it anything less than 20/10. ***The two 4-second gaps on the Special Edition are pointless. I expected a hidden track and was highly disappointed when I did not find one. If Fort Minor does another album, there better not be any of this blank shit on here unless they include a hidden track.*** 19. Be Somebody - Reminds me of my high school experiences. Excellent song. Lupe threw the lyrics down nicely, as did Mike. 9/10 20. There They Go - GANGSTA. I would go to war with this track playin'. 9.5/10 21. The Hard Way - Pretty good track; it grew on me quite quickly. I thought it had the lead singer of Journey when I first listened to it. 8.5/10 And from the special edition's enhanced features... Petrified (Los Angeles Remix) - Well, it's better than Green Lantern. Could have been some more special effects in it, but other than that, great remix. 8.5/10 OVERALL: No one who picks this CD up at the store is fully prepared for what Mike has in store for the listener. Like Jay-Z said on the DVD..."this is an underground album". I look forward to a sophomore album. 9/10 Quote [broken External Image]:http://xerofocusstudios.com/xfs_lpf.png Frost. Here's the deal. Fort_Underground Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 One thing about Slip Out the Back. Is Mike singing about his hardships before he made linkin park and how he struggeled not to break the law to get by before he got famous? Answer would be appreciated. Also, when he says slip out the back before anyone sees you, what exactly does that mean? Quote I am the guy on the forums that your conservative parents warned you about Victory not Vengence
