Th30racl3 Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Ok this is what I'm asking here, you have bands like the Eagles, Led Zeppelin, CCR, Steppin Wolf, Metallica, Beatles etc..... that have been around for years but still remain popular with some even broken up or band members that have passed on. Do you think 20 or even 30 years down the line when our kids are old enough to go out and buy CDs (or whatever the h*ll they have out by then) will they know who Linkin Park is? Will Linkin Park be one of those bands that time will never forget? Or at worst will Hybrid Theory be one of "those CDs" like Led Zeppelin IV, or Master of Puppets? Chris Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 I'm sure c: they love to make music Everyone who's in a band loves to make music, but that doesnt make them legends. Quote
DJ BloodFrost Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Unlikely. I doubt any one group from the 1990s into the distant future will be remembered by the grandkids of today's generation, mainly because hip-hop is the leading genre and most artists in that genre are nothing but a flash in the pan. Today's teens never seem to stay with one artist for too long, so I doubt any artist from our era will stand the test of time. LPDarkMark Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 saddly i have a feeling they wont be legends. the only way our children will know who they are is if we direct them to it and pass our CDs down . LPGotLinkinPark Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 If they keep putting out albums as slow as they have been, no. Plus like already said, their kind of music isn't exactly that popular right now. Quote rep me!! | xanga | add me on myspace
Stenners Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 The 90's was a bland era as was early 2000 and I can only think of a few artists from those 2 era's who have a chance to maintain any status, LP arent one of them. As a band they only been in the scene for 5 years which really isn't enough. And the are only 2 'proper albums' + the fact none of their albums have got the critics dancing and praising. Hybrid Theory's only claim to fame is the amount of CD sales it got. Quote Delete my account, the is no reason why it should be against standard procediure, do it do it do it. Or LPF Sessions 3 leaks before it's done and Spoilers will be posted for every film release. Not to mention periodic troll invasions.
Friðbjörn Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 I think LP won't be legends, but they will be remembered for some time though, for becoming such a hype band in 2000, coming out with a new type of numetal, a new type of fusion. No band plays the exact same genre as LP. Quote [broken External Image]:http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/2784/lpfas08mostintelligentym8.jpg
LPfan4lyfe Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 i know i get made fun at at school since i am a big fan and quote from the people in my classes "theyve only made two cds the other they just remake them" ...too bad i cant say to them what i really think Quote [broken External Image]:http://img183.exs.cx/img183/4621/ngd2wc.gif [broken External Image]:http://img84.exs.cx/img84/6002/faintwater3mg.gif thanks mikes_shadow for my avy. spike91232004 Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 I don't think so, I mean they are the best band in the World (IMO) but nah. I can't see people talking about them 20 years from now. Just doesn't register in my head. Lol Quote
shadowfax1007 Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 yer, sadly i have to agree with most the posts in this thread. I dont think LP will be remembered as Legends. Although they will be remembered. But when we think of Legends, we think Led Zeppelin, AC\DC, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, etc etc, and I just dont think LP compares to them. I mean, Led Zeppelin had god knows how many albums out, in a matter of only 10 years or so, LP has really only released 2 original albums, the rest being Live and Remixs in the 7 or so years they have been around. But i dont know, i might be wrong (hopefully), i guess only time will tell Quote [broken External Image]:http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/2574/brissigyp1.jpg [broken External Image]:http://card.mygamercard.net/sig/shadowfax1007.png
Th30racl3 Posted November 27, 2005 Author Posted November 27, 2005 What if LP sticks around for 10-15 more years putting out 4-5 more CDs? You do realize they are the best selling band since 1/1/00. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing just putting out some facts and some what ifs. Quote [broken External Image]:http://www.erasethepain.info/theuntitled/Images/banner1.jpg
spike91232004 Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 That's a true fact??? ^^ Holy shit. Quote
Commander Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 i don´t know what my kids will listen to but i think the most people in about 20 years won´t know LP. anyway, in my opinion they are legends  (sounds great, right? lol) Quote [broken External Image]:http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/4646/neubitmaprt8.jpg
ShinodaBear Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 if i ever had kids, down the line.... around that time, i can see everyone owning an mp3 player and taking it to the store and buying mp3s instead of cd's.... in all honesty, i really hope that linkin park is one of those bands, but by the looks of things now, i cant see that happening. Hybrid Soldier Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 Well, I think well see come mid 06 because turly, hybrid theory doesnt have a mature enough sound to be a legend, and meteora did, but it wasnt as well received. Quote
Sygy Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 im not to sure. i think LL have alot of potential. if they stop doing all these god damn side projects and really focused hard and produced three to four amazingly good ablum they might be. but unfortunalty at the moment they will probably just be remember as that rock band which played with JayZ at Live 8. So, if I understand you right, your saying that if they stopped doing what they wanted and started focusing on becomming legends, then they could be, right? I know thats know what you meant, but thats what you said. Quote
Hahninator Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 the side projects are part of their little war with warner about their label...LP is pretty smart to do these things in my opinion. Quote
Th30racl3 Posted November 28, 2005 Author Posted November 28, 2005 well you have to look back who would overtake them since the start of this new millennium? Evanescence? U2? Coldplay? Bust some other interesting facts, Hybrid Theory went Diamond and I believe is now 11X Platinum, Meteora is like 7 or 8X Platinum if Meteora goes Diamond they will be the first band in history with there first two ACTUAL albums going Diamond, Reanimation is the first ever remix album to ever go platinum, Collision Course is the first ever Mash Up album to ever go platinum. Hybrid Theory is the 2nd album ever next to Biggies Life After Death to go Diamond and be rap oriented. The fact that this band thrived ^^ that much being in a dying genre at the time they started. Clogz Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 When we are all thirty or forty, watching VH1's "I Love the 00's!", they will start off with "in 2001, the rock band Linkin Park appeared.." Then we will listen to a bunch of half-celebrities talk about it for five minutes and then they will move on. That is LP's legacy...not to say they are a bad band, they just won't be remembered. Stenners Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 the is no denying they accomplished much but they havent done any songs that are truley ground breaking..
