Clogz Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 San Francisco will be the first city, if this plan is completed and realized, to have totally wireless internet access through the whole area...so my question to all of you is, what do you think of this? I'm wondering, if this plan succeeds, could Wi-Fi internet become the new internet? Since it would be transmitted by towers, could the entire country or world eventually be covered with a Wi-Fi blanket? I think its a very interesting and fascinating idea...what are your opinions? Stenners Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Yea its happening all over the UK too London want to have it set up asap I think bout the same time as San Fransico. They plan to introduce it like any other public service. Quote Delete my account, the is no reason why it should be against standard procediure, do it do it do it. shadowfax1007 Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 personally, I dont think the technology is secure enough, or developed enough as of yet. Friðbjörn Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Yeah, cause you know, my parents are not gonna have wire free, cause then the people on the floors above and below us can access our internet... That's how bank records and accounts get hacked, for example. If they manage to avoid that, then I like the idea. Otherwise not. Fort_Underground Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 I agree with Fri. I think it's to early in its development and need to get all the bugs fixed before they go world wide with. Give it some time, and then I might agree with it. Quote I am the guy on the forums that your conservative parents warned you about Victory not Vengence
LPGotLinkinPark Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 I heard on the news that Charleston was doing the same. And I think if they were setting it up to all public, they would already have some security plan. Quote rep me!! | xanga | add me on myspace
misery Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 They're doing it in New Orleans as well. I don't really care either way.. it would make it easier for me to play my DS online though XD Quote [broken External Image]:http://img108.imageshack.us/img108/9403/untitled28ic6.jpg [broken External Image]:http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/1118/22wc5.jpg [broken External Image]:http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/2756/7mi3.jpg
o0SugaxNxSpice0o Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Hm if Fribby is correct and it makes it easier for hackers to access our bank details and such, I'm not sure I like that idea being introduced publically. I practically live on ebay and am constantly using my paypal account *There's like 5 of us using MY card lol* so I wouldn't like to add to that risk. I'm getting enough stupid junk mail about my paypal account from stupid websites trying to get me to log on from their sites etc, it's annoying. Howeverrrrr, if they can somehow get around this problem and provide sufficient protection, it'll be pretty good My broadband satalitte cable thingy tends to slow down when the weather is really bad, and sometimes it just keeps disconnecting me on and off (Especially lately). Oh, and if it speeds up my connection, that'll be another good thing too! Quote [broken External Image]:http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/9765/newsig2qs.gif It's Jen!!!
Brkng_Th_Hbt Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 I agree with Misery, it would make it easier to play my DS online! Isn't Wi-Fi free? I have only 56k in my area. I haven't tried it, but if you have a laptop and an express card, you're able to go to your local shopping mall and sit down at the food court and get wi-fi for free or something. I'm going to try it soon... Quote v v v v[broken External Image]:http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/3880/bannervq9.png click here for buttsecks

That's how bank records and accounts get hacked, for example. If they manage to avoid that, then I like the idea. Otherwise not. I personally think that the internet itself is a sham because of this. I think as more and more people become more computer literate, hacking will become such a problem that even the latest protection will be no match from hackers and viruses. I think its a foolish investment because I don't expect the internet to live longer then I do. I think it will destroy itself, and then all this investing in this technology will end up useless. Jeezy Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 I think that the idea of that is great. But I think they can maybe controll you with that and that's not cool. I mean I don't want that anybody knows which sites I visit. Quote
