Gas Prices

I was with my parents, and we had to stop for gas. Which now cost 2.93 a gallon here. I heard its over $3 in California, the highest in the nation. And I heard that you guys in the U.K. are having to pay over $7.00 a gallon, which is on par with Japan. And all the while, Exxon reported the 5th biggest ever profit for a quarter.

Im about a year from getting my G1, but i still drive and its pretty expensive. Its up to $1.09 L here which is pretty high considering that it was alot lower a few years ago.

it was $2.97 the other day, which is rediculous. Bush went to Cali a couple weeks ago and even though his rich ass paid for the gas, he said it was 'good for the aconamy(sp?)' This is why I have a bike, skateboard, and skooter, for transportation.

I walk everywhere but yea, gas prices are high because of the USA, even more reasson for your country to be resented.

Same here, and I'll be 18 this summer.

Driving isn't exactly the thing to do right now, having the highest gas prices in the world, along with Holland. I don't know how to convert the prices to dollars per gallon or something, but I know it's the highest in the world.

 

I know it might be expensive right now, but I think it's time for man kind to find another fuel type, this is just getting rediculous. Besides, we'll run out of all oil before we know it...

i work at one of the uk's biggest airports and its nearly £1.00 a litre there wich is really expensive. we have a diesel car and thats even more expensive to run.

It was like this after the hurricanes so no worry. It will all even out soon and go back down. However, the gas companies are taking too much money and making too much of a profit. Something does need to be done about that.

 

I can remember after 9/11 when Georgia had some of the lowest gas prices in the nation...I remember it being as low as 95 cents a gallon

^ Umm no they wont Hahn. The only way for prices to go down is if crude oil will, but that doesn't seem like its going to happen. It can only go up, and will continue to do so, but hopefully at not a big as rate right now.

Yeah, can't balme you there. Exxon continues to become richer, while gas prices go up. But since I live in Texas, the price has styaed below $3.00. Hopefully in the near future we will be using Ethanol more.

Not everyone can walk or ride a bike everywhere they go. Like the closest town is about 15 miles from my home, so at an average walking pace of 3 MPH, that's a 5 hour walk just to get there, and 5 to get back. Part of the reason is the high price of crude oil, part of it is our high tax rates. However, I don't feel that it's right that oil companies are making record profits while we're getting raped up the ass. Also, America doesn't have the highest gas prices, we still have pretty much the lowest, except for the middle east. Remember, a little over a dollar a liter is not about a dollar a gallon, it's about 4-5 dollars a gallon.

 

And gas prices aren't high because of the US. I don't know where you pulled that out of your ass from, but I can assure you it's not our fault. It's the terrorists in Middle East who are sabatoging the shipment of oil and lighting the wells on fire. The gas prices are partially based on speculation on the stability of the gas market in the middle east. Since there is no stability, gas prices are higher then normal. Also, about 50-60% of the price of gas is comprised of JUST the cost of the crude oil. That doesn't include refining, tax, or distribution.

Gas is around upper 2.80 a gallon, most people here arent really making a big deal about it anymore. Arent they saying these high gas prices will last all summer? Yea that would suck kinda, no where to go :-/. I heard that some place is making gas with corn or something(which is interesting), its probably 2 hours away.

they won't technically 'last' they're gonna get higher. especially on memorial break right after my birthday this month!

My dad is actually gonna sell hsi car and buy a diesel so he can make biodiesel for it, which costs like somewhere around $2, well, and like a couple thousand in equipment.

 

I for one believe biodisel is the future: a lot more affordable and its better for the environment, and makes your car run better.

I believe you're talking about ethenol from the corn, which is typically 85% ethenol and 15% gasoline. You typically will find it in areas where corn production is high. Also, you get less fuel milage from them because less energy can be attained from the gas, although it is better for newer cars.

but my parents always get it in germany as we live 10 min away from there
