Reflectionist Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 W00t!!! I got my schedule for next year.... what do you guys think? I. Band 2. Algebra I 3. Aide [teaching n00blet 8th graders how to survive H.S. Band] 4. Chorale [it's Advanced Choir] 5. Senior English 6. Music Appreciation 7. Jazz Band Gotta love senior year.... Yeeaaah.... Five music classes. I don't need Algebra I, or Senior English, but since I slacked off and took easy classes to get my required math credit (Basic Math / Consumer Math) and took speech as my fourth english credit.... I figured I might as well take these to prep me for college... The rest could also be called college prep too, since I'm going to take a percussion studies Major.... Hahninator Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 wtf Algebra 1 LOL dude I took that in 8th grade Quote
djwakka Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Luckyy, my school really lacks in the music department even though theory was pretty nice Next year i have... Advanced Placement Photography I & II Radio Broadcasting I & II Screenwriting Film and Literature And the poopy classes... Calc, Physics boo Quote If you start feeling offended when a ridicule begins It's God who gives the gifts so you can take it up with Him http://www.sucksbbs.net/data/MetaMirrorCache/54bb2a153af0bf7cdc7baec66119e65f.gif
Reflectionist Posted May 6, 2006 Author Posted May 6, 2006 Physics sounds fun, actually.... I'm a bit of a science nerd.... I studied photosynthesis out of my Biology teacher's college book when I was a freshman And Mark - This is Missouri.... ranked 47th in the department of education, next to Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi. So, don't blame me, blame the school. And like I said earlier, I took stupid classes because I just wanted to get my credits... who has a plan for after H.S. when they're a freshman? And I'm not much on the theory, the most I get is what I learn in Chorale and Band.... I took those this year, and didn't sightread anything in Chorale past 4-grouped sixteenths, every once in a while, as far as rythm goes... Didn't discuss chord structure, or anything.... Just basic theory stuff. that's what http://www.musictheory.net is for though Quote MY PANTS SMELL LIKE SWISS CHEESE!
KillMeImIrish Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 And the poopy classes... Calc, Physics boo amen. and yeah. all those classes look my 3rd grade schedule.. not senior year in HS. ok... so maybe i overexaggerated a little.. haha. more like.. 9th grade. we have to have at least 4 maths to graduate... alg. 1 is what we take in either 8th grade or 9th grade. if we take it in 8th, we have to start at alg. 2 as a freshman. that sucks. and Trig doesn't even count as a math credit here.. it's an elective.. crazy! Reflectionist Posted May 6, 2006 Author Posted May 6, 2006 well, considering it's in preparation for a Percussion Studies Major, I don't think it's too out of line. It could be a bit immature if it was just for the hell of it. But I only need five elective credits, and one half of an English Credit to graduate. Quote MY PANTS SMELL LIKE SWISS CHEESE!

But I only need five elective credits, and one half of an English Credit to graduate. Around here, everyone has far more credits than needed. KillMeImIrish Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 School of the gifted, much? haha.. no. we're not an advanced school or whatever.. i dont really know what it is.. i guess we just have a lot expected of us... for some reason. Around here, everyone has far more credits than needed. I took Spanish for 3 years of high school... when I could've just not have taken it since i had 4 years worth of credits of art/art history wow... a lot of kids barely have enough credits! to graduate we have to have: 4 english. 4 maths. 4 social studies. 3 sciences 2 arts. 2 languages. 2 computers. hmm. i think that's all we HAVE to have... but i'm not sure. so yeah. it sucks. So they have to do 26 credits to grad, we only have to have 24. Unless you're in Vo-Tech, then you need 25 or 23, respectively. Quote MY PANTS SMELL LIKE SWISS CHEESE!

Reflectionist Posted May 6, 2006 Author Posted May 6, 2006 Practical Arts are: Wood Shop, Business, Ag, and F.A.C.S. Fine Arts are: Art, Band, Choir. Basically they're the same, except that the school thinks that everyone should be chicken farmers, so Agriculture and Wood Shop and Business are 'practical' Where as Music is "impractical" Quote MY PANTS SMELL LIKE SWISS CHEESE!
LSUTiger Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 A senior in Algebra I. That's embarrassing from your school's perspective. Quote
Reflectionist Posted May 6, 2006 Author Posted May 6, 2006 For the fifth time.... i took stupid classes on purpose so I could get my math done easier.... chill out. They've got all that other crap, like geometry, trig, calculus, analytic geometry too..... Quote MY PANTS SMELL LIKE SWISS CHEESE!
Vash_the_Stampede Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Yeah, in my school, they have a class, Basic Math 3, just for seniors. It's there to help them get credits they may need. Quote Good bye, auf wiedersehen, adiós, sayonara Gone

They've got all that other crap, like geometry, trig, calculus, analytic geometry too..... So at what point are you going to realize I was lambasting your school for even allowing a senior to only be so far as Algebra I? You can offer all the excuses you want, but the fact remains; you are a senior in high school that doesn't even possess the mathematical skills of Algebra. That, is infact, embarrassing for whatever educational system you are in. Especially since you are an admitted science fan! Good luck with your precussion major, you're going to need it. Quote
Reflectionist Posted May 7, 2006 Author Posted May 7, 2006 the only reason I'm even taking it is for college. and when I get caught up IN college, it's possible I'll switch my major. I could easily go into psychology or medical science, having a lot of first hand experience in medical science. Quote MY PANTS SMELL LIKE SWISS CHEESE!
LSUTiger Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 Well starting off behind in college is not the best idea, especially if you plan on "catching up." Pre-med opens up much more opportunities than a psych degree. Why does nobody ever want to be an engineer? It's by far the most versatile field there is, but nobody ever wants to enter it. Quote

LSUTiger Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 like.... a train engineer? A music engineer? A Technical Engineer? Exactly!! Well, minus the train engineer. KillMeImIrish Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 $56' date='000 annually, I hear.[/quote'] that's.. not that much... at all. justin- from the stories you tell me, i'm definitely thinking there's a good reason no one wants to go into that field: getting educated for it. oh my gah. no one in their right mind wants to go through that kind of schooling! i actually want to live in college.. ahhaa. LSUTiger Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 $56' date='000 annually, I hear.[/quote'] That's bare minimum actually. Shell came to our school not too long ago and they were offering over 70K a year for Pet E's. Oh, and Christan, 56K a year for your first year out of undergraduate college is a TON of money. Most people are lucky to get 40K first year out of school. Also, it's only hell for the last 2 years. That's when the classes get intense. The first two years give you plenty much of a life in school. Now, however, I dont even have time to answer my phone.. :snicker: Quote
