LPTap Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Ok, first off...I'm new to this forum so don't jump on me if this has been brought up here before... I just recently heared "My December" for the first time and I fell in love with it! But, rumors have been going around (where I live anyways) that when the lyrics mention anything about "snow" it is referring to drugs... I myself find this very hard to believe. Does this mean that EVERY song that has the word snow in it it is referring to drugs??? What about Jingle Bells??? "Dashing through the SNOW..." I just want some clarification on wether or not "My December" is referring to drugs when it says "snow." Thank you... Quote
LP186 Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 My December is about loneliness and lack of dependence i dont think it has anything to do with drugs Quote http://www.sucksbbs.net/data/MetaMirrorCache/9b1d0afefd59e62cbc922a85528ba928.jpg Strength For Now, Nothing Later
Reflectionist Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Jingle bells is all about crack though. My december is not. Quote MY PANTS SMELL LIKE SWISS CHEESE!
LPTap Posted May 16, 2006 Author Posted May 16, 2006 lol and to think kids sing jingle bells at school!!! what has become of sociaty?? haha Quote
azemkamikaze03 Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 I think people just like to associate anything they can with drugs. They if it has something that sounds similar in reference to drugs then they leap at the advantage. I suppose if you were to make a stretch you could say Chester made this song to some what show metaphorically how he felt when he was going throw his drug problems. That's if you really read deep into it. However, I feel as though lp186's statement describing the song as loneliness and lack dependence is accurate. Quote ¿whysoserious?
Phranka Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 we have a song in dutch.. for a certain guy. he's like santa. only he's kindoff a bishop. his name is "Sinterklaas" and we have a song. 'Sinterklaas kapoentje' and many people don't know kapoentje means 'a castrated rooster'. o. chez_19 Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Agree with you, and not everything or every statement that has the word "snow" on it refers to drugs, I mean, it's a common word in the English dictionary.. Reflectionist Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Actually the word 'snow' only appears once in the english Dictionary. it's a very common english WORD though Quote MY PANTS SMELL LIKE SWISS CHEESE!
azemkamikaze03 Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Practically, everyword is somewhat common in the English Dictionary though. Did you know out of 290,000 words in the english language Snow is the 491st most commonly used word in english. Also every word is stated at a max of twice in the english dictionary therefore Snow would be technically a common word in the the dictionary. Quote ¿whysoserious?
white Angel Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 It is just a another way for people to blame something or someone other than themselves or society is all that rumor is about. Actually, is the word "snow man" that has the drug reference not the word "snow". Quote http://www.sucksbbs.net/data/MetaMirrorCache/89fcf47dd41a77d852ae1643e259c446.gif
crazy robster Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Don't attach so much importance to silly rumours! My December is simply a song talking about a the cold, sad feeling of loneliness. Our heart is as cold and lonely as a December's day from which the image of the snow-covered trees is taken. Nothing more than that. Stenners Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 The whole Santa thing was derrivied by a tribe on Mushrooms (the flying slay part anyways) so sure snow always means drugs and as Chester had recently had a drug problem it wouldnt really suprise me as Breaking The Habbit is also about drugs. allieking Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 lol my december isn't about drugs, chester used to use drugs and quit so i hardly think he would make a song about it lol as matt says its about lonileness. Quote [broken External Image]:http://www.inoshishi.co.uk/allie/aa.png
Jeezy Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 lol my december isn't about drugs' date=' chester used to use drugs and quit so i hardly think he would make a song about it lol as matt says its about lonileness. Well, "Breaking the Habit" is about Chesters drug problems...and describes the moment where he made the decission to stop with that... Quote
why Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Some people say that "My December" is a Christmas song because it's about December and because it was apparently first played at the KROQ Christmas Show, or something... Not quite sure...... Quote Click on the image below to check out the brand new Holly Brook Media Player! azemkamikaze03 Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Okay, Breaking the Habit could qualify as a song about overcoming drugs. Just the fact that the song and lyrics are so applicable to the drugs scenario. That and the video has a herion addict. But to say in My December the word snow means dope, crack, ect. is kind of dumb. I suppose in the end we'd have to ask Mike and Chester what exactly they meant when writing the lyrics. And whoever said it was a Christmas song, not you Why?, but whoever first considered it one. Shut the fuck up. Lol, seriously there is no way in hell it's even close to a Christmas song. And to clear something up, Santa Cluas did not originate from 'shroom driven tribe members. It was derived from the concept of the Three Kings who brought Jesus gifts. As for the sleigh, when asked how does St. Nick get everywhere so quick? They said well, heck his reindeer are magic. They can fly. Flying being a faster and more perferred method of transportation. Even though back then the technology to fly had not exsisted. Quote ¿whysoserious?
nkramar78 Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 Jingle bells is all about crack though. My december is not. I'm a bit late, but this comment is gold. Quote

Errrr hmm, first of all Santa derrvied from Chris Crandel who gave to poor families by leaving presents in socks (stockings) in their house, he got in threw the chimney but left threw the door. It was not based off of the Three Kings, the idea of giving gifts derrived from that. And I also said the idea of Santa going from one house to another on raindear driven slay is believed to have been made up when some tribe saw something flying threw the sky and the story passed on and on and got linked to Santy Clause. LP have said that Breaking The Habbit IS about Chester getting over his drug addiction. Quote Delete my account, the is no reason why it should be against standard procediure, do it do it do it. Chris Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 How old are you anyway? If you believe that kinda crap, you must think that the world is flat. Quote
Reflectionist Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 I don't think Breaking the Habit is about Chester though. Statements that support this fact: Chester had drug probs. Chester sings Breaking the Habit. So it must be true, right!? Statements that throw that theory to hell: Mike wrote it. Chester didn't. Mike had the lyrical concept in his head before he even met Chester. Quote MY PANTS SMELL LIKE SWISS CHEESE!
crazy robster Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 I'm not sure, but I've read somewhere that Mike started working on the song when he met Chester who, at about that time decided to quit drugs. He wanted to write this song to talk about his friend's struggle to "break the habit". Correct me if I'm wrong...
