MysteryLpChick Posted June 19, 2006 Author Posted June 19, 2006 Chapter Six Frozen Heaven Undiscovered Hate Rob had stopped by an old stream; he had his sight set to Chicago. Why would he be heading to Chicago? Well, it was one of the major cities in the United States, and there were more people there. It would be harder for the government to find him, from what he could understand. The government was going to recruit anyone for the war. You could call him foolish for running, but Rob did not find it foolish. He knew he was making a smart decision. From what Rob could understand there was no real reason for the war, and more than half the world was in deep confusion about the situation. It was the battle of power. Rob also had another good reason, his daughter. With his family and friends separated from his unknowing reach. She was not safe in this world by herself. She already lost one parent and she did not deserve to lose another. Rob leaned against the car, with his arms crossed staring at the passing river. The beautiful woman stood beside him, smoking her third cigarette. Rob eyed the woman slowly up and down. The outfit did not do too much justice for his judgment, but she was very beautiful he could not lie. He felt himself turning red with embarrassment. He hid his embarrassment by covering his face with his hands. He uncovered his face, and straight back at the water. “So, what’s your name, and what did you do to piss off the government?” “Hmm, I have many names, but you can call me Savanna. You can say that pissed them off, but right now the government hates anyone that despises him or refuses to accept their generous offer.” “The name is Rob, no need for last names.” “Why do you say that?” Savanna took another drag of her cigarette. “You don’t know who I am? Well, actually, I don’t blame you for not knowing really, but it’s quite a shock for someone not knowing me.” “You’re a little cocky aren’t you?” Savanna exhaled, the smoke curled into an exotic dance in the tainted wind with its chemicals. “… You seem to know about the war… care to give a man some info, so he can be one step ahead.” Savanna dropped the cigarette onto the ground, smashing into the ground of dirt. She looked towards Rob, and smiled. “This isn’t like the other World Wars; actually I wouldn’t count them as World Wars anyway. Because this one has every single country you can think of involved. This war is nothing but greed and power, like every war. Why must we fight to consume peace, when war means bloodshed? I never understood…” Rob eyes narrowed with fear, as he watched Savanna’s eyes darken with every word she spoke. “It all started with the end of Iraq war, when it ended most of the Middle East was destroyed. Many left to find a land that they could call home, but slowly, tensions arose… it was not about the war in Iraq anymore. Many wanted power, to show each who was stronger than the other was. Slowly, not only did the leaders of many countries fill lies and hatred throughout people’s heart… but slowly, people began to blame each other, blame other races for the actions of bloodshed. Then at that point, the world slowly fell apart.” “I don’t quite understand… doesn’t everyone have a chance to bounce back?” “No, everyone is at their breaking point, before it was the same thing with all the other wars. Only now, things are worse, man against man nothing else. Now, a battle is spreading over this land… and the worse is yet to come, and that my new friend is extinction… the end is here… man will kill man, therefore, the human race will die.” Rob stepped back. How could he possible register the fact the now the war he was running from was a war of everyman’s fear. Those who hated a certain race will kill those they hated. Those who could not take the bloodshed will lose their heart and soul that were connected to their minds. Those who were already crazy would love to take their rage upon those that were innocent and confused with the current advantage. Those that were in power would try everything to raise their ranks upon every leader in the world. Peace was not an option anymore. It was running. Run from man, the one who created you. The one who fed you with hard labor, the one that could be your friend most of all, was your greatest enemy. No more did Rob want to find a place to be safe, no more. He knew more than anything it was not any point at all. It was not World War III… it was the final war of all wars… extinction of human race forever. ____________ A short chapter, but enough to hold everyone with information, I hope to not offended anyone with anything that is said or displayed in this story. It is only a story and nothing more than that, but feels free to grace me with comments. Quote LiveJournal | MySpace
Ravynlee Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Damn - that last statement had me thinking. I actually thought back to when Rob was reflecting on happier times in a magazine back at Cindy's and tying that into the last statement I thought - my god, maybe those he knows/used to know literally are after him and it's not purely a govenmental thing. I guess though in effect this war leaves little possibility for hope - where does he go when the world is killing itself? Talk about a lonely existence... I feel sorry for all of them... *snuffle* Great. MysteryLpChick Posted June 20, 2006 Author Posted June 20, 2006 Chapter Seven Frozen Heaven Jump Start the Game Rob yawned, leaning against the car, watching the sunset going down. The orange and pink colors reflecting off the crystal stream that ran along the riverbed. He sighed once again seeing his breath in the freezing air, oddly, the weather changed with his mood, which was rare whenever the sun shined. He headed towards the tree, with its long branches hanging down into the river. Savanna hid in the shade, she leaned forward in the river. Splashing water onto her tan skin, she ran her wet hand through her black hair. She shook her head, shivering slightly from the contact of the cold river water and the wind. She straight herself up, and leaned back into the base of the tree. Rob stood next to her, with his hands in his pockets. He looked back at his car, checking to see if Angela had woken up yet. He looked back at Savanna. Her movements were like tiger. She could be furious one minute, and sneaky the next. “Do you know a young girl named, Kenji?” he asked, squinting his eyes as the setting sun blinded him. “I’ve heard of her, but I don’t know her. Is she a rebel leader?” Savanna looked at her nails, and rubbed her hands. “Yeah, do you know anything about her, besides her name?” “Well, I know that her base is in underground New York… that’s all I know.” “Do you have cigarette?” Rob asked, surprising himself with the question. Maybe all this running made him hunger for something, and since he did not have anything to take out his frustration, mostly his drums. Having a cigarette did not seem like a bad idea. He thought of it like this, the cigarette was a gateway to letting all the bad frustration out. With its dancing smoke, it represented the hurt within him, even though he poisoning his body, he frankly did not care anymore. Savanna dug through her pocket, and pulled out the packet of cigarettes and lighter. She handed it to Rob, and pulled the brown and white stick out the green and white box. He placed it between his lips, and lit it up. Once he did, he took in a short drag and let all his frustration out with one long exhale. Burnt bits from the tip fell to the earth, blending in nicely with the dirty of the ground. “So, where do you come from?” Rob finally asked, taking another drag of the cigarette. “I don’t know somewhere that you can call hell. Actually, this is hell twice over.” “I come from California, L.A.” “So, you’ve lived a shelter life didn’t you? You aren’t use to this kind of treatment, so you need me to help you find Kenji.” Savanna smiled faintly. “Well, your answer is yes… I have nothing better to do anyway.” “What do you mean by that… there isn’t anything to do?” Rob exhaled the smoke curling into the air. “Well, there is one thing that could make my day… take off your shirt and strip for me, pretty boy.” Savanna then turned on heel, and headed towards the car. Rob blinked a bit surprised by her sarcastic remark, but was it really a sarcastic remark to begin with. Rob followed her, and saw that Angela was had woken up. Savanna opened the passenger door, and closed it. Rob stopped before he headed any further. He did not want his daughter seeing him smoke, after he told her more than once never to do it. He really was losing his mind. He turned towards the river, the sky slowly turning into a powder blue of pink shade. It was almost night; he needed to get back on the road to Chicago, but before he that, he would need to strike a deal with Savanna. Rob dropped the used cigarette onto the ground, and smashed it with his foot. He turned towards the car, and headed to the drivers side. He opened the door and jumped inside, he closed it behind. “Okay, before we leave we need to do a few things,” Rob turned to look at Angela. “I understand you don’t like me hanging around people you don’t trust. However, Savanna, here is going to help us get to Kenji, okay? I know you think she’s crazy, but I do to.” Savanna shot him an evil glare. Rob looked watched Angela for a minute; she nodded in agreement and sat back in her seat. “Okay, Savanna… you can help us… if you want. I am following your directions, okay. But we’re going to Chicago, so we aren’t out in the open.” “Good. I know a gun dealer there, and few rebel leaders of Chicago. They might have information,” Savanna turned to look over at Angela. “Trust me… I don’t bite.” “You say that to every man don’t you?” Angela said. Her eyes stared back at her. “Angela!” Rob warned sternly. “All right, we’ll finish this later. Let’s go, before it gets too dark.” Rob started the car, and put it into drive. Savanna turned her head to look at Rob. “You told her to say that didn’t you?” “I can’t help you look like a hooker a little…” Savanna narrowed her eyes and slapped Rob in the back of the head. MysteryLpChick Posted June 21, 2006 Author Posted June 21, 2006 Chapter Eight Frozen Heaven Final Candle The moon hung low, the street lamps of Chicago streets dimly lit. Strangers staggered along the streets, searching for something other than food. Searching for home beyond despair, some were sick from the constant rain pour dragging across the country. Some were searching for places to loot for food, clothes, or any other items of their needs. The wheels of the 1970s’ Cadillac rode down the wet street, splashing puddles of water onto the edge of sidewalk. Angela had fallen asleep once more, tired and scared from the previous events from earlier. Rob realized for more than half an hour, Savanna was humming a sad tune. Rob thought he actually heard that song before, sounded so familiar it was haunting. “Pull over there,” she quietly ordered, pointing towards the right side of the street. Rob nodded. He pulled over onto the right, stopping in front of one the few shops that had a night light. Rob could tell that this was a sign for something, but Savanna did not release that information to him. He placed the car in park, and shut the car off. He looked back at his daughter, who was lying across the seat peacefully. She lightly snored, breathing in deeply, and her eyes moving under her eyelids. Possibly dreaming of her mother, no wonder she slept so much. Savanna opened her door, and got out. Rob followed in suit, but he had to wake his daughter. When he pulled the seat back, he peeked across the passenger side to see Savanna leaning down and smiling. She shook her head, motioning for him not wake her. Rob nodded. He then pushed his seat forward, and retrieved his daughter calmly and carefully, not to wake her. Closing their doors, Rob followed Savanna into one of the stories. The bell hanging over the door chimed quietly, but loud enough for whoever was inside would hear. An old man looked up, wearing a gray bandanna over his head. His dark brown ponytail hanging down past his neck, a bottle of Vodka sat before him, and shelves of liquor stood behind him. He stood behind a bar, stools stood before the bar. The whole store was dark; the only light came from the outdoor lamp outside the store that shone through the window. The man looked at Rob, who stood silently, as Savanna walked over to the bar and sat down. “You can place her on the couch over there,” the old man motioned his head towards the couch on the other side of the bar. Rob headed over to the couch, and laid her down comfortably and carefully. He then headed back over to the bar, and sat down next to Savanna. Rob peered at Savanna out of the corner of his eye. Her legs were seductively crossed. She held an unlit cigarette between her slender fingers. Her eyes were like slits, peering at the selection of liquor behind the old man, who prepared her drink without asking what she wanted. Rob jumped slightly as the old man pounded the glass down before him. Rob looked up, thinking that he had been caught looking at her. Savanna took her lighter out, and lit her cigarette. She breathed in the poison, and releasing the smoke from her pink lips. “Vince, do you have extra clothes?” she asked slowly, smoke curling out of her mouth with every word she spoke. “Yes, of course little one I do. Why don’t you go look in the back,” the old man said, pouring a tall, cold glass of beer for Rob. “Rob, tell him what you need to know, okay?” Savanna got off the stool, and slowly walked in the back. “Oh, um… well, I wanted to know do you happen to know or heard of a rebel leader named Kenji?” “Of course I do, actually, they all hang up there in New York… underground actually, New York considered a wasteland or so I’ve heard.” “Really, do you know if she’s okay? I mean Kenji the only one that I know of that can help me find my friends… I don’t know---I don’t really know if their okay or not…” Rob lowered his head, wrapping his hands around the glass of beer. “Hmm, a lot of people have been disappearing lately. Innocent citizens have been labeled as bounties now, sad but true, placed in camps---” “Camps… do you mean prison camps?” “Yes, that’s what I mean… you don’t have to do anything to end up camps. You can be a certain race or believe in a certain belief to be placed a camp. They are tons of them in Washington and up north, more like in Michigan… Jewish, Japanese, Muslim, African American… you name it.” “You’re not being hunted to be a solider, Rob. You and thousands of people all over the world are being hunted on the differences.” Savanna appeared, not wearing her usually attire, but black jeans, a black tank top, and arm warmers that stretched past her elbows. “Yup, they are collecting them all up, and shipping back to their home lands. Hell some of them do not have homelands to be shipped back to!” the old man said, taking a huge swallow of his Vodka. “But my people they have been run of their homes for centuries. I fear for my daughter the most. I’m Jewish, and what can I do for my daughter.” “People that don’t have lands to go to are usually used for the government or killed…” the old man took another large swallow of his Vodka, “This war has messed with everyone’s minds… now that people have something or someone to blame shit on… they will do anything to destroy them, reminds me of the other wars as well.” “Every war is the same; we blame another man for a mistake one man committed.” Savanna slowly walked back over to her sit, and sat down turning towards Rob, with her legs crossed. “If were caught… I already know what they might use me for, but my daughter has no family but me…” Rob voice slowly chocked up, his eyes gleaming with tears. “She doesn’t have anywhere to go… I’m all that she has… they going to kill my daughter!” “You’re not the only one in this situation, Rob…” Savanna watched, as Rob turned away from her clenching the glass of beer in his hands. “She doesn’t have a childhood… it isn’t fair!” Rob said through clenched teeth. “I didn’t have one either…” Savanna wanted to touch him, but she was afraid of him. “What the hell are you?” Rob knew that she was quite different than he expected. “I’m just a pretty little toy, that’s all you need to know.” “What are you talking about?” Rob turned to look at, tears slowly falling from his eyes. “If I told you then you would hate me… I’m just a toy, Rob, that’s all you need to know.” Savanna kept her hands to herself, because Rob was finally seeing what she saw all this time. __________________________ Okay, I hope not to offend anyone with topics discussed in this story. MysteryLpChick Posted June 23, 2006 Author Posted June 23, 2006 Chapter Nine Frozen Heaven Countdown to Death Rob stared out the one room apartment, a twin sized bed sat in the middle of the room. One window next to the bed, and over to the far right there was a small kitchen. It was nothing to fancy, nothing to get excited about, however, to those that wander the streets would jump for joy, and for once, since the pitiful days of war they would feel warmth for once. The small apartment was over the liquor store and bar of the old man. From Rob’s perspective, he seemed as if he had a thing for Savanna, but Savanna never took notice. Angela still slept soundly, neatly tucked safely and warm in the covers of the twin bed. Rob wondered if he should get that checked out, but then again they were not any doctors. He looked outside the window, he sighed realizing that it was more the weather that made everyone, not just Angela, so sleepy and frustrated. Savanna watched quietly, she had taken great interest in Rob. He seemed hurt and confused, and the more she gave him information the more he became quiet, only talking in his thoughts, more so than to her. Who could blame him for not talking to her; they had only just met each other. She smiled watching his figure standing at the window. In all honestly, she thought Rob was very handsome in a boyish kind of way. He held a manly heart, which showed whenever his daughter needed assistance. To her, Rob was the very first real man she had ever encountered. She shook her head, and stared up at the hand clock over the window. “Rob,” she called to him, she walked over to him standing with her arms crossed. “Maybe you should go look for an open market somewhere.” The old man suggested that Rob search for some food, to make Rob useful. The old man did not trust Rob around Savanna that much, but Rob had not taken it as insult in any way, but an advantage. The search could lead for some clues of whatever was going on. Rob turned around, and jumped a bit to find Savanna standing behind him. She may have been a few inches shorter than he was, but those eyes. “All right, I should be back before it hits noon, okay?” Rob stepped around her, and headed towards the door. He stopped and looked over at his daughter. “Can you take care of her… while I’m gone…?” “Of course, I’ll treat her as if she was my own…” Savanna smiled, her eyes sparkling with the surprised offer, even if it was more of a demand. Rob left the apartment, not worried about anything happening with Savanna around. He seen her fight, and she did not fight like any normal person. Some of her moves did not even seem like martial arts moves, but to him he felt safe and they were cool to watch. Rob headed down the stairs, with his car keys in his pockets. He was not planning to take his car in the first place, but he was just being safe. He came upon the old man drinking another glass of Vodka. Rob shook his head wondering how sad it was for him to be drinking before noon. The old man eyed him closely, as Rob left the liquor store and bar. The bell ringing signaling his departure, Rob headed down the street, sliding his hand across his car. He placed his hands in his pockets, strolling merrily down the street. His eyes caught wind of a few people running down the street, and out towards the distance he could see a small crowd gathering. Rob walked faster, his curiosity taken over. He looked up at the sky; birds headed the other way, away from the crowding people. He looked forward again and saw black smoke blazing everywhere. Funny there was not an explosion, maybe it was a fire. He saw a young black man and few of his friends sitting on the steps of their apartment. Talking and pointing at the smoke. “So, what happened here?” he asked, standing before them. “I don’t know, my wife came outside and saw this black smoke. It has been there since four this morning. No one knows what happened. You can’t smell any fire or anything,” said one of the men, wearing a pair of jeans and a white T-shirt. “Hey, men don’t I know you from somewhere?” asked his first friend, wearing blue jean outfit. “Yeah, you look familiar… don’t you play in a band…didn’t you guys play with Jay-Z or something?” asked another man, standing in the doorway. Rob looked back at the group of men, but he could not get his mind off the smoke. “Yeah, I’ll be back…” Rob said slowly, he headed slowly towards the crowd. It seemed as if no one had the guts to go through the smoke, and neither was he for that matter. He stopped the ground shook violently. The first thing to come to mind was War of the Worlds. He did not know why, but it was man doing the fighting not aliens. Then Rob began to wonder in the split second what if that whole concept was a riddle. Man was his own downfall, and the untimely would come. BANG! The ground started the shake even harder. Just like L.A., the black smoke was the enemy, and the next to come was…the bomb. Air fighters took flight in the air, striking towards the sky, and dropping another bomb. It landed in the smoke and it blasted away the group, blazing fire. Rob turned around with his quick foot and started running with all his might. A few of the men who were on the stairs of their apartment, jumped off and started running, With utter chaos riots, screams, and terror, another bomb landed behind Rob and went off. Throwing him into the side of the car, he quickly got him, back aching and started running. All around him, people were falling into the fire of death. Crying for help, nowhere else to run, and everywhere he turned there were popping sounds in his ears, and nowhere to go with bombs flying down everywhere. He stopped quickly as a car thrown in front of him; he skidded towards the side, and jumped over yellow fire hydrogen. He could see that the light to the store was still on. Angela was on his mind, but something told him that Savanna was quick and could defend herself, those words from last night echoed through his mind, but were ripped from his thoughts when he felt someone grab him by the arm, and push him down. A raging man tried punching him and kicking him without any mercy. Rob tried blocking his face, but the man was able to get a few punches in, Rob heart stopped short when he realized the words were foreign and a certain tattoo on his face. Rob looked to the side, and saw a car tumbling towards them. With quick reaction, Rob found a sharp stick lying next to him. He grabbed quickly, and poked the man in the eye. He kicked him off straight in the stomach, and he got up. The man looked forward only to see the last thing but a car in his face. Rob kept running, leaving behind a trail of fire in his wake. MysteryLpChick Posted June 23, 2006 Author Posted June 23, 2006 Meanwhile, Angela awoke ready to scream from the sudden explosion. Savanna kept her quiet by keeping a hand over her mouth. “Don’t scream, follow me… quietly,” she ordered calmly. Angela nodded and followed Savanna out the room; she led her down the stairs. She could hear several voices outside the store, she hurried Angela into a near by closet. “You stay don’t make a sound. If you feel like your about to do anything that might jeopardize us, just count to hundred with your hands over your ears, okay?” “What about daddy?” she asked quietly, letting out a sniff. “Your daddy should be okay. Do what I say, okay?” Angela nodded, and Savanna closed the closet door. Savanna looked all around for the old man, when she checked the back of the bar. He was lying in the ground with a slit neck; she bent down to understand that he had taken his own life, with the bloody knife in his hand. She stood up, and the door burst open. The same uniform-clad army men stood in the doorway, the sounds of chaos erupting outside leaking into the bar, louder and clear than ever. Savanna stood ready to fight, she walked over towards the middle of the room. Sixteen men filed in, Angela let the closet door crack slowly. “Under the Washington Lab of Defense #342, you are under arrest for escaping under experiment conditions,” one said in stern voice, reading off the paper. Savanna just stood clenching her fist. She eyed the stool by the bar, as her first weapon. “This one is dangerous, if she tries to attack shock her. We want her alive, but if she kills anyone of us… kill her,” another one said, as two of the men headed towards her with guns in their hands. Savanna quickly kicked up the chair with foot, and kicked it towards the two men. It knocked one man in the face, causing him to stumble backwards. Three more ran towards her, she charged at them. She jumped in the air, and grabbed one by the neck. Landing behind him with her hand around his neck, she kicked one man towards the side that tried to charge her. She threw the man in her grasp at three men. She grabbed the stool and cracked one man over the head with it. It broke in half, and she dropped the legs. She did jump kick, but one man grabbed her by the leg and tried to throw her down. He flipped her over him, but her heel landed into one the fallen men’s neck. She twirled around and kicked the man in the side. Angela watched with amazement. Savanna moved quickly. Savanna grabbed two handguns from the man on the ground, bleeding from the wound in his neck. She launched out several bullets, twirling around knocking one man down with one hit of a bullet. Angela lowered herself deeper into the closet, the noise popping in her ears. She covered her ears and began to count to hundred quietly, rocking back and forth. The noise stopped, Angela removed her hands from ears and listened as footsteps approach the closet. The door opened and there was Savanna holding a black scarf. “I’m going to cover your eyes, okay? This is for your benefit, such pretty eyes and a young heart shouldn’t see terror and chaos.” Savanna tired the scarf around Angela’s eyes and gathered her in her arms. “We’ll find your daddy, but we have to leave.” Savanna left the store quickly, heading out of Chicago not towards the destruction. Just a few minutes before they left Rob, came towards the store and headed inside. He stopped in the doorway, bloody bodies of the black uniform-clad army men scattered about. Only one person could take care of them, Savanna. He entered the store searching for the two. He looked behind the bar and saw the dead old man, confused about his whereabouts of his death. He looked upstairs and searched for the two girls, nothing. From what he saw Savanna was able to get Angela out with no worries, but Rob was worried afraid for that matter. He knew that if Savanna got out that she would leave out of Chicago the way they came in, the other route already destroyed. He only wished there was a sign of some sort. He looked around downstairs; he stooped and looked down on the floor, written out in blood in read: God Rest in Peace Outside of Chaos. Rob pondered for a minute. “The church just before you hit Chicago. That’s where she went!” Rob headed out of the store, people running past. He stopped when he saw something in his car. He stomped over to the car with an angry face. He walked over to the driver side of the car, and he saw a man trying to hotwire his car. “WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING TO MY FUCKING CAR?” Rob headed over to the man, and grabbed him by the shoulder but stopped. “Chester… WHY THE HELL ARE YOU TRYING TO HOTWIRE MY CAR!” A woman and three boys headed towards the passenger side of the car and stopped. Chester stopped and stared at Rob with disbelief. “What the… your alive, Rob!” Chester hugged his friend back and Rob felt his heart break into a million pieces he found someone he had known. “I would spend time with you right now, but I have to meet up with my daughter. Take the car keys. Meet me out of state. There is a church in a vast land of farms. Meet me there, okay?” Rob handed Chester the car keys. “I’m happy that you, Talinda, and the boys are safe.” “Okay, I’ll do that,” Chester knew what he was talking about, but he could not second-guess Rob’s orders anyway. He got in the car along with his family, and headed out. Rob knew that he would be luckier finding them on foot, since they were on foot. They could not have gotten far, but the destruction was coming fast, and he not choice but to run. _________________________________________ OKAY! Ravynlee Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Wow - action packed! And Hurrah! Chester's there! He's alive as are Talinda and his crew - awww that was so sweet. I felt for Rob at that moment - poor guy - he "loses" his daughter (if only temporarily) and "finds" a long lost friend - talk about bittersweet. As for Savanah - hmmm. Wonder exactly what experiments were performed on her that makes her such a dangerous killing machine. Very creepy, yet cool. Great. And that message to lead Rob to the church - oh so cool. Can't wait for more! ~Rav Quote http://www.sucksbbs.net/data/MetaMirrorCache/8a6798b252d89e12b3d476bb0fa63027.jpg ~ If I'm not here, I'm there ^ ~ ~ All new general discussion forum ~ Click pic !!! ~

MysteryLpChick Posted June 24, 2006 Author Posted June 24, 2006 Chapter Ten Frozen Heaven When You Ask Questions Rob staggered down the empty road, few people followed behind him. However, some could not hold on that much longer. Some fell behind, exhausted from the long trip. Some decided to set up camp with whatever they had, even though they had little. Rob had to keep walking, even if his back ached, from his back hitting a parked car during the bombing. His hands battered with scrapes and scares, dirty from scrambling off the ground and touching objects. His skin was red and smudged, and he knew that he did not smell nice either. Consider the fact he had been able to take a decent shower since he was back at the motel, and from the smells of smoke and blood. Rob walked silently, slowly becoming angry. Questions ran through his head, but only one entity came to mind, God. Ever since he could remember he followed his religious beliefs, but it was not about his beliefs now. It was more of questions, an augment towards God. Why was this happening to him? Rob didn’t ask for much, actually, he questioned again, why was this happening to his daughter? Why did she have to live through such chaos, she had never asked or done anything wrong. Then tears slowly formed in his eyes, he wiped his eyes with the ends of his sleeves. He looked behind him and the few crowds of people that were following had diminished. Only one body lay in the middle of the road. Rob looked forward once again, and pain and sadness followed him. He stumbled forward, and fell to his knees. Slowly salty tears dripped from his eyes. Droplets fell onto the cold hard pavement, those tears had been begging to come out for a while and finally they had. Rob pounded his fist into the ground, causing his scars to begin bleeding once more. “Why the hell did you do this to us? To the world, you created… why you hurt me so much! Not only did you take the love of my life away from me, but also you’re taking everything else from me! Why don’t you kill me if you taking everything else away from---from--- me…” Rob hugged himself, still on his knees and streams of tears poured from out of his soul into the world. “Now, don’t blame the almighty for everything… he has something special for you…” trailed a voice. Rob looked up, and wiped away the tears. There standing before him was an old black man, with a wooden cane, hunching over due to hold age. He cleared his throat, and gave Rob a smile. “You know the human race is confused about what to believe in… I don’t blame them, and neither does the almighty either.” “What are you talking about?” Rob asked, sitting up staring at the old man. “We all have are own beliefs, and sometimes those beliefs get in the way. However, sadly, in my opinion God shouldn’t take the wrath of it all you know. I believe that all of this was a test, and he---well, doesn’t want everyone holding his hands for every little mistake we do. And that’s what this is… a grand mistake, due to man.” “His not in this fight, but he is in our hearts somewhere deep within us, God, in my opinion is peace. Sad but true, we misused the word so much that it’s stuck definition of what the almighty wants. Now you don’t have to believe in what I say… and truth be told, am a little crazy.” Rob let out a giggle, but covered his mouth in shame of embarrassing the man. “Oh, don’t worry about laughing that’s what he wants, or whatever he is,” the old man smiled and coughed a little. “I guess you do have a point--- like she said, man is to blame for the things we do. However, I never thought God really cared in what we believed in, as long as we have faith.” “Don’t keep questioning now, boy… sometimes you may never get an answer until the end.” Rob heard an engine heading behind him. He turned his head to find Chester heading towards him. He stood up, and moved to the side as Chester pulled up and stop the car. “I thought you would be at the church by now?” he asked, stepping out of the car. “No, I was sidetracked a little, that’s all-- I guess that has something to do with the pain in my back.” Rob looked over to where the old man was standing, but he was gone. Chester looked to where Rob was staring at and looked back at him. “What’s the matter?” “Nothing,” Rob pulled open the passenger door; Talinda sat in the back with the boys trying to comfort them. Rob closed the door, and Chester followed and suit. Soon they were heading off towards the church. Rob closed his eyes for just a second, but awoke to find Chester parking outside the church. He scratched his forehead in sleepiness. “How long was I asleep?” “An hour, the place looks empty, but then again can’t second guess things can you?” Chester opened the door and got out, helping his family out the car. Rob followed in same, but eagerness didn’t make him wait. He ran straight to the large church doors and pushed them open, with strength and pain mixed together. Chester and his family followed behind him, as Rob stepped inside. Stain-glass windows decorated the dark red and brown atmosphere. He walked down the aisle his eyes scanning the rows of empty benches. He stopped when he heard a click of a gun. He turned around. Chester placed his family behind him and Rob, even though they were defenseless. Two army men stood pointing guns at them. “How did we know someone would come here, but that doesn’t matter… looks like we got ourselves new soldiers, Rick pull out the handcuffs. I think not only we have two new soldiers, but a Jew as well.” Rob heart stop, he wasn’t going down like this no matter what. High a top a balcony, Savanna peered down. She tied the scarf back around Angela’s eyes, but unknowing to Angela she didn’t know her father was down there, and she didn’t know that Savanna was going to slice those soldiers into pieces either. Savanna held a sword she found in the basement of the church while exploring. Savanna whistled catching the attention from down below. She jumped off the balcony with the sword tied around her back, she landed in between the benches, crouching silently waiting from them to come. Rob smiled knowing he could count on Savanna to be there and protect them; he had to return the favor somehow. One of the men headed towards where she landed, but he yelled in pain as she stabbed his foot with her index finger. She hid underneath the bench, and when he fell backwards, she took the chance to knock him out. She got up; her eyes caught the quick action of the other man with the gun ready to shoot at Chester and Rob. She charged in front of Rob and Chester, and his family. She pulled the sword off her back, and swung right through his body in straight cut line down the middle. Talinda covered her sons’ eyes, as he split in half. Rob almost threw up in disgust, but only Chester stood with wide eyes. “Strangely… that was so KICK ASS!” ______________________________ This is only a story, and opinions that the characters speak of are just for story purposes. Ravynlee Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 Kiss ass is right! XD Wow - Savanah is like Uma Thurman in Kill Bill (at least in this update) that was what I was immediately picturing. As for the old man on the side of the road... wow. Was he an aparition or something else? That scene where Rob was questioning his faith was a powerful one. Can't wait to see what comes next. (By the way, hope you have fun at the amusement park ) ~Rav Quote http://www.sucksbbs.net/data/MetaMirrorCache/8a6798b252d89e12b3d476bb0fa63027.jpg ~ If I'm not here, I'm there ^ ~ ~ All new general discussion forum ~ Click pic !!! ~

MysteryLpChick Posted June 25, 2006 Author Posted June 25, 2006 Chapter Eleven Frozen Heaven Quality Time “Daddy!” Angela cried, running to her father. Rob picked up his daughter, and hugged her tightly. Savanna smiled, placing the sword down onto the ground. She looked behind Rob and Angela, staring at the family behind them. Chester stared back at her with a curious look. Chester wondered who she was, of course, but what was her purpose with Rob? Rob was a quiet. He could be silly when he wanted to be, and very loving towards his family and friends. Therefore, how did he come upon the likes of her? A loud snap surprised them all. Savanna quickly turned around ready to fight in defense, but she stopped when she an old Priest and Nun covering the split body. The old Priest blessed the body, and the Nun headed towards the unconscious man to check on him. “Surprising enough I would have shunned you for killing someone, but in this time I understand that you must do what you have to do to survive. We have plenty of rooms upstairs for you and your family to stay,” the turned on his heel and motioned for the group to follow. Chester, Rob, and the four children followed the old Priest, but Talinda had a few words to exchange with Savanna. Talinda stopped beside Savanna, and tapped her on the shoulder just before Savanna walked off. “Next time you decide to kill someone like that, please give a warning… my sons have seen enough. And thanks for keeping Angela safe… you’ve earned my trust…” Talinda walked off, leaving Savanna speechless. Savanna shook her current state off, and followed behind the group. The old Priest led them upstairs where many of the rooms were empty. There was a bathroom consisting of four showers. The old Priest explained that they had used the rooms for the homeless or those in need of finding God. Now that the war had made many homeless and many crazier there was not enough to support. He also explained that they did not have beds either, because over the passing months bombings and shot outs had occurred. Sometimes bullets damaged the stain glass windows. The old Priest did not want anyone to get hurt, and neither did the rest of the group either. “Angela, why don’t you go play with the boys, okay? Daddy needs to get some rest.” Rob ordered tiredly, he gave his daughter a kiss on the forehead. The Nun had returned from downstairs, and ushered the children to a room where they could play with the toys they collected over the years. Talinda and Chester retired into their room, and Rob fell into the pile of blankets in his rooms. Savanna had asked the Nun to give her a bucket of cold water, a bottle of rubbing alcohol, and rag. She stood in the doorway, as Rob strained to get comfortable. Savanna walked in and kneeled down beside Rob. “You should let me look at your back. There are blood stains on your sweat shirt,” she said calmly. She moved herself behind Rob, and touched his back gently. As Rob slowly removed his sweatshirt. Rob immediately blushed at the sight; his arms well toned, so he worked out, and working out equaled nice body. Rob threw his shirt down. Savanna rubbed her face gently, and stared at his back. It had a few cuts and bruises, but the big problem was that there was a large piece of glass protruding from one of the cuts. “Mmm, you have glass sticking out of one your cuts. It does not look that bad, could be infected. So, I’ll have to pull it out.” “Pull it out, nope. You’re not pulling it out!” Rob moved away from her, but Savanna grabbed Rob’s shoulders. “I have to Rob…” Savanna gently gripped the end of glass, and slowly tugged. “AHH! No, please… my body will push it out!” Rob whined loudly, as he felt the glass sliding out. “Oh, come on who told you that?” Savanna released her grip on the glass, and titled her head to look at Rob from the side. “Your being a baby, Rob. I am sure it is not that bad. Let me pull it out, okay?” “No, no, no, no----” “I pulled it out…” Savanna showed Rob the piece of glass, and Rob stopped immediately with his tantrum. He became quiet, as Savanna chuckled at him softly. “Let me kill it up, and then I’m going to look at your chest.” Savanna lightly cleaned his back. He tried to hold back his hissing of pain, but he could not. He tensed up whenever he felt a burn from the alcohol. She then turned to face his chest, in which she really blushed, but she hid her blush by rubbing her face as if she was tired. She was right about his body. She dipped her hands in the cold water, and rubbed her hands on his chest. In which he watched her silently. He knew that she was embarrassed about doing this, but she wanted to help, and it worked. “Hey, this is a church not strip bar…” Chester and Talinda stood in the doorway, with Talinda laughing at his comment. Rob moved away, with Savanna sighing now being ruined by Chester. Secretly, Rob did not want the moment to be over either. Quote LiveJournal | MySpace
