MysteryLpChick Posted August 17, 2006 Author Posted August 17, 2006 Chapter 22 Frozen Heaven Two Words, One Woman, and One Outcome Savanna watched quietly from afar, as Mary tended to Mike’s wounds. He slept soundly from the large amount of sleeping pills she gave him; however, she feared that the pain still affected him greatly because she did not have any morphine to reduce the feeling. Mike hissed, as she applied the peroxide to his wounds. She frowned at the sight, out of all the captures; Mike was the one to take the worse of them all. Rob grew sick to his stomach, and stood near Savanna. “So, where do you think Phoenix might be?” Chester asked, walking over to Rob. “I don’t know…” Rob said slowly, his eyes growing watery. “Why was this happening? Everything was going so fine---” “So, many years ago… I’m going to bed!” Savanna said angrily, leaving Chester and Rob confused of her outburst. They looked back at Mary and the others, but Joe’s questioning eyes greeted them. Chester sighed, and walked away tired from all the fuss. Rob just stood there, lowering his head. He was confused, angry, and sad… what could they possibly do now. After seeing the real damage, Rob was losing hope fast, and who could save him. “Last time I heard from Phoenix he was protecting the others,” said soft, yet raspy voice. Rob looked up and smiled at Brad, who came over to keep him company. “I believe that Mike was raging about his wife… from what I can remember they drag Anna away, and she was two months pregnant then, it’s been seven months.” “As long as Phoenix is protecting them, but Anna I’m not for sure. Does he remember anything after that?” Rob asked, with a hint of hope in his voice, but the lost of faith sparkling in his eyes. “Yeah, actually, from what he told me they kicked her out. She was lucky not to be showing that much really, they were protecting those that didn’t look like us or talk like us, whatever the hell that means.” “From that day on, I’m guessing Mike kept complaining where his wife was, and the only way to shut him up was to---” Rob stopped; he felt bile rising up within his throat. He quickly turned away from Brad, and ran upstairs to the bathroom. When arrived, he could not release the disgust that built up within him. Tears spilled from his eyes, and he began to sob uncontrollably, salty tears dripping into the toilet water. Rob could not remember how long, he had been there for he slumped down onto the floor crying himself into a deep sleep. However, the loud rumble of thunder, and the streaks of lighten jolted him from his sleep. Rob sat up, breathing heavily, wiping his dry and red face. He stood up, and turned on facet on the sink. He splashed his face with water, and stared in the mirror, his reflection staring back in the darkness. He sighed deeply, and traveled back outside the bathroom. The house was dark, and everyone had fallen asleep. He stopped before Savanna’s room, hearing light footsteps on the other side of her door. He turned towards her door, barely touching the knob when she came busting through and grabbing his neck. The fell back with a loud thud, the lights flew on from downstairs. Savanna cried out, as she and Rob tumbled downstairs. He tried to restrain her, when they landed at the bottom of the stairs, but her strength was ten times higher than his own was. Chester tried to reach for Savanna, but Rob screamed out and showed Chester an expression of ‘don’t you dare touch her,’ Never in his life, did Chester ever see Rob stare back at him. “Savanna… stop this madness… I want you to stop…” Rob chocked out, as her eyes glazed over. “Don’t you know who this is… it’s me Rob… the man you kissed!” He was not for sure why he said those words, he saw this sort of thing happen in movies, and either a kiss or remembrance of some sort of affection always broke their spell. He felt her weight fall onto him, and her hands loosing around his neck, he sighed. Clap, clap, clap, “Very good, Mr. Bourdon, I love how you handle that,” came a female’s voice. Rob looked up, and saw a woman walking down the stairs. She wore white lab coat, gold earrings, and her hair pilled into a bun with bits of hair falling out. “Mary you are always quite the worker… but I’m afraid you’ve come across my pet.” “Who the hell are you?” Mary asked angrily, not ready to take a night of ruckus “My name is not important to you, but you two or should saw Rob have fallen over my project. I supposed your wondering…,” the woman said, walking down the stairs and standing over Rob and Savanna. “Why my project attacked you… well, point blank she’s a human puppet where I can control with one outcome with two words.” “What are you talking about… crazy lady?” Chester asked, crossing his arms. “Well, Mr. Bourdon don’t think just because you happen to mention your affection towards my project that it stopped her… I said only two words to make her stop and go into rage… and I’ll use it again.” The woman smiled, and crossed over to the main door. “So, your going to take us in?” Rob said slowly, his eyes becoming heavy. “Oh, don’t be silly… I am only having fun, besides I want all of you to suffer just like the world. Savanna is just going to destroy it as intended… silly pet…” Rob growled, and placed Savanna aside. He stood up, ready to charge the woman. He stomped over to her, ready to give her a piece of his mind. When she grabbed him by the shoulders, and kissed him roughly on the lips, then she bite his ear and whispered two haunting words… “Frozen Heaven…” Then she released Rob, who stood in surprise and his face pale as a ghost. She smiled, and left the house with a smile. That woman was playing a game of words, knowing that not only did Rob and Savanna had high hopes for each other, but speaking two words of a deadly outcome to him was like driving a knife through his heart. She wanted him to say those words… and he was afraid that he would. ______________________ Sorry to keep you guys waiting for an update, but I was a bit sidetracked with MGTHS and other works. MysteryLpChick Posted August 20, 2006 Author Posted August 20, 2006 Chapter 23 Frozen Heaven Downward Spiral Savanna held her stomach, cringing in pain. The room spinning at her own protect of telling her mind to stop the pain. She could not capture her breath anymore; she was truly losing sight of what was happening to her mentally and physically. She sat up, and looked around. She had to hold her breath, even though she was having a hard time capturing her breath. Everything went away as a passing dream in darkness, the warm touch of someone’s hand on hers made her lose sight of pain. Savanna regained her breathing again, her head stopped spinning, and her world fell upon Rob. He sat next to her, on the twin-sized bed with a worried smile on his face. She lost voice, but in reality, she lost the true words she wanted to share with him. The memory of attacking him was gone, but the sound of his voice stayed with her. Her vision became blurry, and her senses went away quickly. Her body felt warmth, and she passed into darkness. Rob gently laid her head down back onto the pillow. She had passed out again for the fifth time that morning. He sat there for a few minutes, watching her breath slowly. When he knew that she was safe, he stood up and left the room quietly, trying his best not to awaken her from her slumber. “How is she doing?” Mary asked. She stood at the bottom of the stairs with a coffee mug in her hand. When Rob came down, she handed the mug to him, and patted his shoulder with her other hand. “She’s doing fine… very so often she’ll wake-up for a few minutes and then she pass out. We can’t stay here for long,” he said, taking a sip of the coffee. “I can understand, that woman… I do not know anything about her, but she seems to know enough about all of us. Rob I heard that the army is passing through… but I do not know which army, so it might be deadly. You have to get your friends out of here…” “And you too?” Rob asked. A sad smile spread across his face. “…. No, my dear…” Mary turned away from him, and toward the kitchen. Rob lowered his eyes, staring back at his form in the brown liquid. He let out a sigh, confusion overwhelmed him again. Then a sudden tap on the shoulder brought him back from his daze. His eyes met a pair of chocolate brown eyes; they seemed more alive than before, yet still filled with sadness. “Mike…” Rob stared at his long time friend, and a smile spread across his face when he saw Mike smile back at him. “H-How are you feeling today?” “A lot better now that I’m out of darkness… hey, come with me… Chester is looking at some map to escape.” Mike placed a friendly hand on his friend’s back, and led him towards the group. Joe and Brad ate happily, as they looked at Chester running his finger across the map. Rob and Mike sat down, and stared with interest at the paper. “Who was that chick that attacked last night?” Joe asked, swallowing his food and picking up another slice of pancake from his plate with his fork. “No, the question is ‘who the hell is that woman?’ and ‘where the hell did she learn to fight like that?’” Rob asked, taking a sip of orange juice, and picking up a plain donut. “Her name is Savanna… she’s a government escaped project… and well what else we can tell you about her. Every time we learn something new about her, something else comes up about her that leaves us more confused.” Rob answered with a sigh. “I don’t care I like her, and she’s helping us… beside the part where she tired to kill you,” Chester said, he looked up from the map and saw the raised eyebrows of his fellow members. “Well, okay, maybe she has a violent problem… but it seems as if she won’t hurt you… she---” “I had enough of this! What’s with the map and what are you looking for?” Rob asked, stealing a bite of eggs from Brad’s plate. “Mary gave this to me… she knows about the rebels and their ports. We can hide from the approaching army; by taking the route underground a few miles away from here… if we follow we can get to New York in two days… with a stock supply.” Chester looked at Rob, and tilted his head. “Huh? Why are you looking at me like that?” Rob asked, looking back at Chester. “What’s the matter with you?” “Why won’t Mary… come with us… she can die…” Rob lowered his eyes at the plate of food, hiding his tears that started to fall. “Sometimes when pain hurts from losing someone you love, there is no place to run, because that love one might not be there. Mary is an old soul she can’t possible keep running anymore… she told me…,” Mike said softly. “She can only help those who need it…” “… We leave at sunset…,” Rob said slowly, his eyes glaring and sparkling with tears. The hours went by quickly, and soon Rob found himself standing outside with the group. Savanna and Chester offered to carry the packs as well as Rob, considering that Brad, Joe, and Mike still needed to heal, so they only carry packs with much lighter items, such as blankets and pillows. Mary stood at the door with a smile on her face, giving the boys kisses and hugs. “Well, time does go by face… do you have my instructions for tending your wounds Mike?” Mary asked, patting his cheek gently. “Yes, Mary, thank you for the talk…” he stepped back, and Rob was the last of the group to receive a final hug. “I want you to protect her… at the moment she’s fragile… and she’s seems to care and need your help,” she whispered in his ear, as she hugged him gently. “Love just as you would anyone else… but I sense that you have deeper affections towards her.” “Thank you, Mary…” Rob wiped away a few tears. “Don’t worry about me… I can stand on my own… I’ve been around to survive the worse.” Mary placed a kiss on his forehead, and she released him from his embrace. In a blink of an eye, the group walked away from Mary with a longing for warmth, however, what mattered most only brought them pain in the process. Rob walked back a few paces from the men, but Savanna by his side. “Promise me one thing Rob… you won’t speak those words no matter what, okay?” Rob nodded, and grabbed her hand and squeezed it tightly. _________________ Surprised that I updated so early in the morning. MysteryLpChick Posted August 31, 2006 Author Posted August 31, 2006 Chapter 24 Frozen Heaven Never Remember The Past The sound of the water dripping against the dirty ground did not bother him. The fire before him flickered and brighten the darken area of the underground tunnel. Here he was again heading towards the first destination from the start, with half the crew by his side and troubles hanging heavy on his shoulders. Chester slowly cooked the hot dogs that Mary provided for them in their pack, sighing at the slow pace of the fire cooking the food. Joe and Brad played cards quietly, however, every now and then either Joe or Brad would bust onto cussing at each other that played which move. Mike sat quietly on the other side, just as Rob was. Savanna rummaged for something in her pack. Rob closed his eyes and listened to the various sound of the water dripping, the card game outburst, or Chester’s sighing. Savanna looked over at Mike, a smile curving on her lips whenever he played with his fingernails, almost like a little child. Men surrounded her, and each held a handsome glow. Therefore, she couldn’t quite help but judge each of them every now and then. However, getting involved with either of them, including Rob was out of the picture. She was dangerous and that’s how it was. She grabbed a pack of cigarettes from her bag, and headed over to Mike. “Do you want a cigarette?” she asked softly, her smile bring goose bumps to Mike’s skin. “Sure…” he reached up and grabbed the pack of cigarettes. Savanna pulled out her lighter and handed it to him. She watched him closely, his movements were graceful, and however, his voice and eyes were sad. Savanna all to well that Mike use to be a man of great happiness. “It’s not for me to say… but I clearly remember you speaking of a woman named Anna. Am I correct or do you want me to stop?” Savanna sat down next to him, retrieving the pack of cigarettes and lighter from Mike. “… No, I don’t really mind talking… you can say I was always a bit jealous of Chester and Rob, because they had children… when my wife, Anna, found out that she was going to have a baby…. I cried… cried tears of joy… and they take her away from me---” “Not knowing if you’re beloved is dead or alive… and with an unborn child no less… or possibly born…” Savanna took a drag of her cigarette slowly, and let out a puff of smoke. “Why do you run from Rob?” Mike asked, inhaling the smoke and exhaling gently. “Why would you say something like that? If you’re wondering what’s between us it’s nothing!” “Of course you won’t say anything, because you run the risk of hurting him, right? I’m not stupid you know… sure I’ve lived the good life for a few years, but my common sense doesn’t lack.” Mike pointed his index finger against the side of his head. “… I can tell…” Savanna let out puff of smoke, and smiled slyly at Mike. Rob, who sat on the other side, heard his name a few times through the unknown conversation. He didn’t much care for what anyone was talking about, because something else directed his concern. Through the whole time, his hand rested in his pockets, something cool and heart-shaped. Rob fumbled around with the object in his pocket for a few minutes, and slowly pulled it out. A sliver heart-shaped locket sparkled with the light from the fire hitting it gently. Where could it have come from? Rob never remembered anything that belonged to him such as this. He tried to open the locker. However, it was stuck. His nails, of course weren’t long enough to dig into the cracks to open the locket. He needed something that could easily slide through and open it. He looked around the small camp area, and came upon his pack laying a few feet away from him. He stood up, and headed towards it. He opened the pack and searched for a pocketknife, his hand glided across something hard and cool, with markings of beautiful designs. He pulled out the knife, and flipped it open. He gently slides the sharp tip through the cracks, and carefully and gently jiggled it open. The locket clicked open, and each side displayed a picture. “Angela… and….” His eyes filled with tears, as he saw pictures of his wife. Who in the world gave this locket to him? He felt sick with sadness and unsure what to think of the situation. Somebody was messing with his head, making him sick with depression. They wanted him to remember old memories of a past… couldn’t he move on in peace? No, that person that was watching him knew everything about him… followed him wherever he went… and that person was amongst them… Quote LiveJournal | MySpace
