I think many of those friends are just lying and pretending, to fit in. Cause apparently losing your virginity early is "über cool". So I guess teenagers pregnant and/or with STDs must be hella popular.

noooooooooooooooooo its not.i was pregnant at 17 and its NOT fun. having to bring up a baby when your still a child is not good. i had 2 kids by 19 and it was that hard i can't remember some of it because i blocked it out. my kids are older now and i wouldn't change them for the world because they are my whole life, i would change when i had them tho, i wish i would have been older.

Knowing that your not being labeled as a whore [even if you've slept with one person. people aren't going to believe that once the person you slept with starts talking], knowing you dont run the risk of gettings AIDS or any other STD, knowing you won't get someone pregnant or become pregnant yourself, knowing your not being used by the person your sleeping with, knowing that you won't ever get that "scare" of being pregnant, knowing that your body is your own, knowing that your in control of yourself, and many other things that have to do with virginity.

 

Everyone has different views & I can proudly say to my friends who aren't virgins that I am one because I know that they regret all of it. Each of them have lost their virginity and have regretted. How do I know? I'm the one my friends come to when they have problems. I've listened to most all of them cry b/c they've been used, their pregnant, they got someone pregnant, they're scared that they have and STD. I've heard it all and I've been there for them. I wonder how they put up with the stress and think to myself that I dont want any of that. I'm a virgin and I'm going to stay a virgin. I'm in NO rush at all. To you guys who are virgins... be proud of that and dont' rush into anything your not ready for.

That is the last thing I would expect to hear from you. Just because something is not tangible, just because it cannot be used to benefit someone does not mean it is not good.

 

I do not think virginity is sacred per se, I think it is valuable. I will spare you the after school specials and the cliches about "giving your whole self to your spouse." However, I think it is valuable/special because nowadays people just throw it away.

 

And by people I mean teenagers. Most adults that make it through their teen years staying a virgin don't end up throwing it away. I cannot fathom the devastation that most of my friends have gone through, just because they decided that virginity is not anything to be careful with.

 

If you have not figured it out by now, virginity's value is psychological. Read the post above mine if you need a refined definition of that value.

Regardless, virginity can be a sensitive topic, since people always have differing opinions. The only way to go about a topic like this is by respecting each one of these opinions, not attacking them.

I don't want to tangle with a life long illness or a poopy daiper, and I think keeping it in your pants is a small price to pay for keeping those things out of my life at the moment.

And if you want to have sex, fine. I can't stop anyone from doing it...but I won't.
