Well my sister I think your idea is geat and yes I think a challenge can make the game more interesting. Harder but interesting!! I agree wholeheartedly and I think it would be ideal if we used the LP members!! Personally due to lack of expansion packs I can't download all LP members and I definitely CAN'T make them so I'll probably only use Rob but anyway it's not a prerequisite (including ALL the band members) it would only be nice in the sense that our LP Sim partner would have his band members around him and that would make it more realistic. I'm in for sure, I'll make another effort to download Mike maybe and I'll start organising my game. I'll definitely use my Madden twins as friends in my game and who knows? Maybe they'll get to marry too, have kids and then MY kids will marry their kids and so on... Yay I'm excited!!! I also think that to make it work correctly and be meaningful, we should frequently post pictures to indicate our progress. It's gonna be fun I think I don't know what the rest of the guys think but I'm definitely in sis!!! :thumbsup:

Yeah, I don't think having the rest of the band should be a pre-requisite. If there's others who dont have all EPs for example they may feel limitted. I was only thinking, as you said, having the rest of them in town would be good for building friendships or if nothing else they might be able to contribute to the gene pool with their own offspring or whatever *shrugs*

As for having other famous sims in game, the more the merrier I say. It doesn't matter whom else you want to inhabit your town so long as you and your chosen partner are the key two characters. One member HAS to be a LP band member for obvious reasons (its called the LP Legacy challenge)

Well welcome aboard!

 

Having said that Sarah (Woody) said she's in too! She's having issues with her connection or sth but I agreed to post her progress in pics here for her so everyone else can share in her game as well! So yay, its slowly growing.

 

Between us, Jojo and I have come up with a few ammendments, see what you think.

 

Rather than have 10 generations, maybe five would be a good starter. Given that most of us have lives outside of Sims maybe 10 generations is a bit much to ask. None of us have great attention spans...

Guilty as charged. Hahaha.

So yeah... 5 generations. If we all reach that ad want to go further we'll extend it. See what y'all think.

 

Have as many kids as you want per generation. I'm thinking its up to you how many per generation you want but the point is to make it to the fifth generation at least and that each generation has to traceable all the way back to the original sim you started with, the sim-you.

 

A few points to consider;

How many points do we get for each thing (and subsequently lose for each cheat) and what's the total we are striving to aim for or beat?

 

Who has what expansion packs? Should there be bonus points to those who want to put their sims through college (if you have Uni EP) or how many dates you have (if you have NL) and so on...? I dont want anyone to be excluded so I'm thinking that the overall point system should be based on the base game and those of us with EPs can choose whether or not it is worth investing our time to go to the extra challenge and what we should get for the trouble if we do...

*shrugs*

 

I also thought of an interesting loophole for this. If we think about it a lot of ppl in the forums here are teenagers so it is possible that you could start as a teenager (and make a sim of you and at least one parent - that DOES not count to the 5 generations challenge either but strictly speaking unhacked your game wont allow sim teens to love alone) and get to work on your skills and meet the LP guys before you grow up, that way half the work is already done for you by the time your sim is an adult. Its a possibility for those of you wanting to start the sims as close to RL as possible.

Just a thought.

 

So... while I try and get my head around the numbers (gah, I hate them!) for the scorecard, tell me what other changes or suggestions or comments or anything else you'd like to add. REMEMBER its not MY (Ravyn's) game, its OURS. Add whatever you want and majority vote wins I say, make it fair.

Cool my sista!!! It's worth it and I say why not give it a try? I'm already excited about it!!! I finally managed to download and install Mike (at least) and also Christian Bale whom I'll also use as a friend!!! As for the point system and stuff since EPs will also be included I'm afraid I'm not familiar enough with them to be able to help since I only have the base game. I'm still a beginner...sorta!! THE SIMS 2 LPF LEGACY CHALLENGE

 

Ok, this is adapted from the basic rules from the official Legacy Challenge only with a few modifications

 

The basic rules, regardless the EP you have, are these;

The challenge: Make a family the strongest it can be over 10 generations (This is legacy challenge rules, its up to you to decide whether you want to do 5 or 10).

The Rules: Start with a single adult sim made with the create-a-sim or bodyshop, male or female. Pick any aspiration. Assign personality points as you want.

 

~ Start the family on an empty 5X5 Lot. Furnish it. Try and survive!

 

~ The official Legacy Challenge only allows townie and NPC marriages but for this challenge I thought it would be more entertaining to have freedom of choice, that is you can marry/move in anyone from NPC to sims you make yourself/download elsewhere. For the purpose of THIS challenge I thought making LP band members (and whomever else famous or otherwise you chose) would be good, at least to start the first generation (and maybe even contribute to theirs, who knows?).

You are not restricted to ONE partner at a time only. You are allowed multiple partners if you so chose (but be aware generally in-game jealousy will make things difficult if not entertaining!). It's not a moral debate but leaves room for more choices in storytelling if that's your style

 

~ BE AWARE that whomever you move into your family will adopt YOUR self-sim's last name, so if you for instance move in and marry Chester he will lose Bennington and take on his new wife's surname. Weird I know but that's how the game is. You can avoid this by naming yourself Bennington in this example but be aware your kids that follow will ALL end up from that point as Bennington, even if your self sim has kids to another sim :/

 

~ Children may move out if you want but you must keep at least one child in the home to continue the legacy. Children that move out you can no longer control unless you move them back in. (You can move in teenagers for the sole purpose of aging them to adults, then moving them back out again, it is up to you).

 

~ When children grow into teenager and you are asked to pick an aspiration, roll a six sided dice

1: Wealth

2: Knowledge

3: Family

4: Romance

5: Popularity

6: Pick one yourself

 

This is to give some challenges and variety as you play through the generations.

 

The 10th generation child must be able to trace family back up to the original sim by blood.

 

DO'S and DONT's

~ You may NOT turn ageing off.

~ You may not use cheats that alter a sims wealth, motives, skills or age. Cheats to change a sims height or for advanced building/lighting/etc are allowed. 'Move-objects on' is also allowed.

~ You may use the elixir of life, but USE CAUTION, as you may suffer the jump bug.

~ DO NOT USE BOOLPROP. Do so and void the challenge altogether.

~ You may not use 'kaching' or 'motherlode'. Each use you will lose points. -1 point per 'kaching' use and -5 'motherlode' each use.

~ You may use any other normal asperation reward objects such as 'thinking cap' within normal limitations of the game.

~ You may NOT use any kinds of hacks or mood trainers. Do so and lose points. -1 point per use of each hack per time.

~ You may NOT use any "special" objects such as the platinum-maxing painting. Again, do so and lose points. -1 point per hack per use.

~ You may use any maxis-made objects, and any 3rd party skins/wallpapers/floors etc, and custom/created objects are allowed ONLY if they do not affect basic game play (eg, hacked paintings or 'automatically restock fridge' etc. 'Love Beds' are allowed but using them will incur loss of points per use as they alter sims motives. Still good for storytelling if you so choose to )

~ Custom genetics (eyes/hair/skin/clothes etc) ARE allowed.

~ Custom careers are allowed PROVIDING they are reasonable in the amount of money you earn per promotion. (If its too easy and earns you too much where's the challenge? Again, its your choice).

~ Custom radio stations (MP3s ypu can play in game/TV chanels/games ARE allowed.

~ You may NOT use the new twins or abduction patches.

~ You may NOT use any hack designed to alter a sims pregnancy than what is designed in game ('Accelerate pregnancy'/'Risky woohoo' etc). Additional hacks that make the moment of conception silent for example are ok. Its always a nice surprise when you dont know for sure

~ NO reloading after bad events (bad chance cards or accidental deaths, something happening you didn't like, etc).

~ Restarting after a bad bug or a glitch IS allowed.

~ Should you be unfortunate enough to have your entire lot bugged, starting the entire challege over again is okay. (Its reccommended you upload your lot regularly to the exchange to keep it safe if your system goes awry but that is up to you; author al_case, TSR)

 

~ At the end of the challenge (10 generations or after the family line is broken) score your family on the following terms.

 

SCORING

1. 1 point for each generation reached (max 10)

2. 1 point for each $100,000 in net worth the family has (round your current net worth up)

3. 1 point for each PLATINUM grave on the lot (grave of a sim that dies of old age in platinum mood).

4. 1/3 point for each family friend the family has at the end. (round spare 1/3s down)

5. 1 point every time a sim fulfills an 'impossible' want (a want scoring 30,000 points or more, limit one per sim per want. There are other wants that also count for this, like "have 10 children")

6. -1 point every time a household member drops into aspirational failure (red), requiring a visit from the sim shrink.

7. -2 points for every inter-bred birth in the family. For higher points breed with non-family members!

8. There are no points for adoptions as these children do not carry on the family legacy/genes. Same as the adopted child's children do not count either, as they are not BLOOD related as per legacy challenge rules.

 

Special Bonuses.

1. 2 points if all 10 career reward objects are on the lot (One time only, earning additional reward objects doesnt count to final score).

2. 1 point for each different type of NPC that you have children with over the whole legacy.

3. 1 point for each different color ghost you have on the lot at the end.

4. -2 points for each visitor that dies on your lot.

5. 1 point for each alien born on the lot (1st generation aliens only, children of aliens don't count, unless it's by abduction)

6. 2 points if the birth that brings in the last generation is twins.

7. 2 points if you can get two social bunnies to have romantic interactions on the lot (One time only)

8. 2 points if you manage to collect ALL the different types of ghosts on the lot. This will depend on what EPs you have but it encompasses all ghosts.

9. 1/2 a point per party thrown per sim. ALL Sims at ALL age transitions/marriages/anniversaries MUST have a party. If your party is a roof-raiser make it a full 1 point. If your party is a snoozer lose your half point.

10. 1/2 a point per skill you max out per sim per lifetime.

11. 1 point if you get your sim LP bandmember (or ANY of his offspring) to make it all the way through the music career in his lifetime (before he dies of old age - This can be adapted, if you have a famous actor you have created as your sim-self's generation father figure then you get 1 point for any of his kids that make it all the way through the acting career in their lifetime and so on!)

 

 

Of course there is NO way for anyone to enforce the rules or scoring, so the whole contest is on the honor system. There is NO TIME LIMIT to achieve this goal and the idea is for one to have fun and two share your sim families with the rest of the simmers here! It is NOT an "I'm better than you" ego-fest. Post heaps of pics to show everyone your progress and I look forward to seeing everyone's scores while I start cracking on my own Legacy family. Good Luck and above all HAVE FUN!

Well as far as this challenge goes, I have adapted the CollenLegacyScorecard Excel sheet to be our official scorecard. It took me a few hours but it seems to work fine now. Props to the original author, damn, the formulas took a bit or figuring out since I hadn't used Excel since Uni like 6 years ago 0_0

Bear with me.

 

The basic premise for the scoresheet is as follows.

* You only need to fill in the orange collumn as you acheive things set out in the rules below.

* The blue collumn is autoformatted to add up the scores for you. Again, all you need to touch anywhere is the orange collumn

* Where you see an 'X' it basically represents a goal you can only achieve once in the entire challenge. So all you need to do is indicate you have achieved this goal by typing 'x' in the appropriate orange space. The blue cell will add it up for you

* Where you see a # you will need to enter a number in the appropriate orange space. If for example you have 2 visitors die in your game you type the number 2 in the appropriate orange space beside 'Visitor Deaths' and it will automatically subtract points per death from your total, see?

And so on til the chart is full (or as full as you want it to be).

 

Hopefully that makes sense. If you have any queries dont hesitate to ask. I'll help where I can. If I can. God knows I'm not perfect and I could have screwed up somewhere along the line here, I'm a bit rusty at this, remember? Old and senile. Meh. Haha.

 

Ammendments to the rules;

 

Jojo has pointed out to me a few things that are worth mentioning.

The original Legacy Challenge allowed a one-time cheat to give your starting sim $100,000 without losing points. This is how you are supposed to buy the biggest block of land. D'uh, I forgot to mention this. Why we buy that land is because it will be the setting for your ENTIRE challenge and will need to accomodate everyone in the family until they move out or die of old age. It is also a place to collect all the graves/urns/headstones of past family members and count towards points in your scorecard (under 'Ghosts').

 

IF (like Jojo) you cannot access that cheat ('familyfunds simssurname $100,000') then you can use the 'Motherlode' cheat a total of two times to get the same amount without penalty but after that the rules will apply. You will need to move your sim into a cheap place, motherlode twice, save and exit back to neighbourhood before you move them out to the big vacant land but it will work the same way.

 

The idea of having a choice between 5-10 generations is simply because some people will find 5 (like me) not a big enough challenge, whereas 5 to some will be more than enough. Its for you to decide. Either way, for each generation you create you add a point in the orange space beside 'Generations' in the scorecard.

 

There is also a quick glossary for those of you who do not understand what some of the terms in the scorecard mean. Let me explain, and if you have any questions dont hesitate to ask ^_^

NPC = Non playable character. Basically a sim in your game that you did not create. Generally a sim that serves a purpose, like the maid, the paperboy/girl, the gardener, and so on. If anyone in any generation marries any NPC on the list you mark 'x' and recieve a point towards your total.

 

Career reward objects = rewards you get whenever a sim tops any career. Every career, even custom ones, generally give sims something at the end of rising to the top of their jobs. If during your entire 5 or 10 generations you manage to get all 10 career rewards then you mark them off 'x' each time and get 2 points.

 

Platinum graves = Platinum is the sims highest mood (red being the worst, very red is where the shrink will visit and you will lose points, and green is good or normal). When a sim dies in platinum mood (silver) they get a platinum grave. Each platinum grave is worth 1 point in your scorecard.

 

Social Bunny's = are NPCs that, like the shrink, visit when your sim is desperately lonely and needs social interraction. Its a big lifesized bunny and is hard to get rid of, making it harder to get the sim better again. You win points if you manage to make 2 social bunny's have romantic interractions. Good luck I reckon.

 

Impossible wants = Lifetime wants. All sims have lifetime wants but many seem unachievable. They can be anything from earning $30,000, have 50 first dates to woo-hoo with 20 different sims etc. Each time each sim achieves a lifetime want you score a point. Add the number in the 'Impossible wants' space in the orange section.

 

Family Net Worth = What the household is worth. In the neighbourhood screen click on any house and you will see the family's name, everyone in it, and a number value beneath it. This number is your Net Worth. At the end of your game round the number up to the nearest $100,000 and add a point per $100,000. So if at the end you are worth $378,000 you will round that up to $400,000 and add 4 points to your scorecard.

 

This list could go on forever but hopefully it makes enough sense to those who were a little lost by the rules. If you choose to play remember there is NO time limit, you play at your own pace, and its encouraged you post as many pics/ino/story as you want to share with the rest of us. I am starting tonight and am suddenly now very excited to be playing sims again... go figure. So I started the challenge yesterday and I have to admit I'm enjoying it. Its tough, a little tougher than I thought it would be, mostly because I didn't realise just how much I rely on my various cheats to get things done! Jeez! But this really is a challenge for me, and if I make it to 10 I'll be stoked (hell at this point one would be an achievement!) haha

 

Well, I made Veronavile my challenge neighbourhood. This was a surefire way to ensure my sim-self met as many of my custom-made sims as possible (unlike Pleasantview which seems choked with townies!) Sure enough within a first few sim hours (RL minutes) who comes by to say hi but Rob and Mike! Yay!

Soooooo my turn!!! I started tonight!! I faced problems but that was to be expected since I am a noob!! Hahaha it's all good!!! Rob taught us that!! :thumbsup:

 

First of all I didn't know how to build a house I tried but couldn't figure out what to do so I bought one, placed it in Pleasantview neighbourhood and that was it... Sorry sis I know you wanted to see the sim version of MY place but I couldn't do it, I tried, really!! How many points do I lose for that???? lol

 

Other than that things are going pretty good, I don't use cheats or anything, I got to marry Rob we're going to have a baby soon and the other sims I used as friends are Mike, and the Madden twins. So far Jojo and Rob are friends with Mike and Joel. Rob got a job as a roadie, I hope he'll get promoted soon! The only mistake I made I think was that Jojo is a romance sim and Rob is a family sim and while he was anxious to marry her she had some sort of nervous breakdown!!! Yeah...unfortunately her aspiration level hit the red bottom as soon as they got married and she had to see the sims psychiatrist (or whatever that Einstein thing falling out of the sky is called...LOL)

 

Another funny incident is that poor Robbie had an electric shock while trying to fix the dishwasher...hahahaha I'm clumsy, I know!! Lol I think I'm going to try it up to the 5th generation I don't think I'm gonna make it up to the 10th one, I know my capabilities as a player and also my attention span.

Hahaha oh sis that Rob with the burns all over him pic there cracked me up (sadistic huh?) hahaha, that was classic! Mind you, you have to be careful. Sims who attempt to repair broken items around the house with little or no mechanical points can end up having nasty accidents as you have discovered, and some with low enough moods can actually die from it!

Wow you and Rob got married? haha how sweet! Aww what's funny is the fact that the Rob from your game looks almost exactly the same as the Rob in mine, clothes and all, and that's funny to see! Its an alternate universe!

And as for going to generation 5 - I'm hearing you. I had high ideals when I started out, but now with only two generations I'm feeling a lot less confident. No, just... wary. I want to make sure I do everything right so... yeah, not looking too far ahead just yet. One generation at a time is a good start.

Waaaaaaaaaaah!!! Things couldn't be worse!!! First of all Rob caught Jojo cheating twice with Benji and he slapped her and although their relationship is now ok I know they still keep this bad memory!! My son... I was such a lousy parent, well poor Rob tried but he was at work most of the time and Jojo was constantly busy flirting, so... The social worker came and took my child!!!! WAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!! Have I lost my son forever? I don't know what to do to take him back... And to make matters worse I tried for a baby 4 times after Peter's birth and Jojo can't get pregnant I don't know why!!!??? Is there something wrong with my game??? My sims always used to get pregnant as soon as they decided to try for a baby... What can I do? Help!!! Co-simmers!!!! I told you guys I suck as a player... Well I don't think there is a way to get him back within the limits of this challenge, but as far as getting pregnant goes, it may be due to several things, their mood, energy, and their aspiration as well. As I said once before having a family sim helps matters because they have a driving desire to have a huge family so will get pregnant much easier. But as far as something wrong with your game, I don't think so. My poor sis, you don't suck as a player, you just need a little more practice is all. Besides it's only a friendly competition, don't stress sis... have fun, even seasoned players screw up!
