What 2007 albums have you heard so far & are EXCITED about...

I have to say I haven't heard any 2007 album so far. The new work by Arcade Fire and Bloc Party are pretty promising though, so I'm waiting for those to be released. I thought the first single from the new Weekend in the City (The Prayer) was pretty cool when I saw the video, but it appeared to me it wasn't getting a good reception, so to speak. I think it's a solid song and liked it a lot.

Honestly I rarely await for particular albums to be released, I discover what's being released gradually and I keep up with that lol

Thanks for the post Toxic1 :)

I heard the new AIR album and I think it's really cool....I think they go in a great direction with this new Japanese kinda sound....

I also heard the new Norah Jones CD "Not Too Late"....I'm not excited about it to be honest...but it's a nice album....I liked her previous work more...this one sounds so slow and mellow....I don't really feel a lot of emotions while listening to it...but you can listen to it if you have problems to fall asleep...after the 3rd track you'll deffinately sleep...lol

Don't have a link, sorry

Talib Kweli also got a new CD out....it's together with Madlib called "Liberation"...it's more like an EP...but it's awesome...I especially like the track "Funny Money"...Kweli is showing his whole lyrical potential on this CD...

visit his myspace page to hear it

http://www.myspace.com/talibkweli

also the new Bloc Party album "A Weekend in The City" is awesome...I just got the new final version...(there was a unmastered leak also)...I think it's better than Silent Alarm...they also have better lyrics now...at least that's what I think....it's my favorite album this year...so far...lol

and oh yeah...this boy Jeezy has a new album out called "Press Pause On Life"...I really like that one... :D

go here to listen to some tracks

Nice comments. I shall check that TK because of Madlib.

As for Air, it's a good album, but probably not as good as Moon Safari and Talkie Walkie.

I'm not sure what to think of the new Bloc Party. I kinda instantly took to Silent Alarm, but this new one didn't really grab me so much. The single seems very weak and it definitely feels ilke they were asked to cater to a wider audience. Heck, they were touring with Panic! That should tell you something.

Norah Jones. No comment.

And as for Jeezy, great job on putting your album together. It definitely takes time and patience. Good stuff.

Let me guess. Because the majority of the posters aren't following the guidelines of the thread? I pointed out exactly how to contribute, but people keep doing their own thing. Here it goes again:

TITLE: What 2007 albums have you heard so far & are EXCITED about......

Or maybe just a 2007 song if that's all you have. Post a link if you can.

Just posting names of bands is kinda boring. You have nothing to hear or discuss.

Comments of the songs that are shared thus far are welcomed..........

Discuss and contribute.

The new Bloc Party song, 'The Prayer' is awesome so I'm pretty excited about their new album since it sounds pretty different to what they've done before.

And Fall Out Boy's new song is also great.. nothing different, but good^^

Klaxons. At first I thought they were absolute shite, but they're really growing on me. The whole nu-rave genre is a bunch of overblown crap though.

Yeah I'm gonna be rebellious and name bands now

Alkaline Trio

Funeral For A Friend

Arctic Monkeys

Ash

i still love you, girl from mars.

are they still doing KoRN Kovers?

To my knowledge no there hasn't been any word just talk on new album.

"He also states that out of the 18 songs written, they have recorded 8, and plan to return to the studio in the new year to continue writing and recording, hoping to release the album in 2008. Davis also says they are going to experiment with 7 – 8 minutes songs."

All I have heard about Korn besides Drummer leaving and Davis playing the devil in a new movie.

...we need a genral Korn topic in Other Artists >.>

Yeah I can't be fucked writing massive paragraphs on the albums, so I'll name the ones worth listening too.

The Black Parade - My Chemical Romance (if you call that 2007, I would)

Don't You Fake It - The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus (fucking awesome)

Dying Is Your Latest Fashion - Escape the Fate (again...not 2007 but worth a fucking mention...getting close to taking LP's spot....BAHAHAHA)

Beautiful Lie - 30 Seconds to Mars

Yeah so most of them aren't 2007, but come on...we are only 16 days in....

Over and out,

What do you think about The Good The Bad And The Queen?...already heard the album?

Has its catchy moments, but I'm not entirely sold. They put it on their myspace awhile back too.

I've been digging !!!'s new one alot more. A lot more catchy.

As well as Menomena. I think you would like them in some ways, based on your music. Don't take the sample song I uploaded face value for their sound because they have alot more things going on with keys and piano, electronics, great drum beats, horns, and other different instrumenation that's not shown on that particular song. There isn't any sampling though.

Here is a song from the other end of the spectrum from Menomena's new album. Most of the other songs are kinda in between the those two songs I posted. They are alot more jammy with killer beats, horns, keys, and atmosphere. And different singers.

On this particular song, the singer sounds almost as lame at times as Blink 182 kinda singing, but thankfully he only sings that one song. And it's a beauty.

So what, I've heard at least twenty 2007 albums so far. Some of them I heard a few months back in 2006. I'm starting to lose track right now. I didn't ask about 2006 stuff. Go to the 2006 favourite albums thread if you want.

Please post some description on new albums that you are enjoying along with a sample song if possible. I'll kick it off here first........

Well obviously the new Arcade Fire album "Neon Bible" that comes out in March is getting the most HYPE and understandably so. I'll just post the website dedicated to the new album instead of a song.

http://www.neonbible.com/readme.html

--------------

Explosions in the Sky got done with the Friday NIght Lights soundtrack and began work on a new record. It has leaked and it sounds epic as usual, but with the addition of some piano it sounds even more depressing during the low parts. The opener is amazing and the guitars really soar. Don't be alarmed by the thunderous sound of the beginning. It scared me the first time I heard it. During the second half of the song things just take off like no song has in awhile. The guitar work and thunderous stampede of drums are amazing.

The Birth and Death of the Day:

----------------

The new !!! album "Myth Takes" is coming out and is very exciting and DANCEY as expected. Talking Heads-ish at times. It's a PARTY album. Here is a shorter song to give you a taste:

All My Heroes Are Weirdos - http://download.yousendit.com/899634AC1E7FEBC7

----------------

The new Menomena album "Friend and Foe" leaked awhile back and is a very diverse and fun listen with various different sounds and multiple different lead singers. Here is a track that's definitely more in your face than most other songs they do.

Pelican - http://download.yousendit.com/1710571D57315D9E

----------------

Boris and Michio Kurihara (from Psych Japanese band "Ghost") decided to collaborate and this intrigueing album popped up. The guitar solos on this album OWN. Here is a description from another place on the web:

Michio Kurihara is one of Japan's most respected guitarists and this new work with Boris should give an insight into the latest inspirations for both artists, as these recordings are relatively recent. As we know Boris' collaborations are a way for the artists involved to expand their 'vision', so this will definitely be another worthy experience for all fans. Kurihara's passionate psychedelic guitar and delicate pop styles along with news that Wata sings and plays metalofone/glockenspiel on this release only increases the anticipation.

It's basically a drone-y Boris album with a big touch of psychedelia. The results are fantastic. Give this a listen if you like anything Boris-related.

Here is the opening song of which sounds absolutely gorgeous with epic spacey shoegazer guitar NOISE EXPLOSIONS. Sung in Japanese.........this song will shoot your ears into the heavens.

Rafflesia: http://download.yousendit.com/1FA7C66568F9B76C

--------------

French duo Air is coming out with "Pocket Symphony". The new album features the use of Japanese instrumentation along with their normal Air-ish esthetic. The opening track is instrumental and is typical Air without the Japanese instrumentation:

Space Maker - http://download.yousendit.com/504BEC301AF6DBAC

---------------

Of course there are alot more 2007 albums I could go over, but this may be overkill to do all at once.............ENJOY!

And contributions are appreciated even if it's only one band..........

Links are still good........

I'm going to see The Good, The Bad and The Queen on 3rd Feb, yet I haven't heard many songs by them. To be honest I find them a bit boring, we're just going cause of Damon (Blur = ace) and because it's a local show (which is a rare occurance, bands NEVER come to Warrington).

i still love you, girl from mars.

Take a chill pill.

I don't think it's that much of an offence to name a few albums that were late 2006-early 2007...

I didn't see the point of bringing that thread back up for albums released not that long ago....16 days man.....

Obviously it's more than 16 days if people are able to hear 2007 albums in 2006. I'm sure it won't offend anyone if you bumped up a thread that's from at least 16 days ago. 16 days man......
