Here's a story I wrote yesterday... It's kinda very sad... I don't know why I wrote this, I wasn't even in a sad mood... don't know... ok anyways...

Red Roses

Lying in the bed, all the time. The days gone by and nothing changed. Vivian was sick of everyting: the people around her, the world, the bed she was lying in, but most of all, her sickness. She didn't knew what happend to her because no one wanted to tell her the truth.

In the past she used to be a normal girl: she had friends, had good grades at school and sche liked doing the things girls were doing at her age.

One day cheanged her life completely. The door opend.

"Hey Viv!" her mother said "I'm bringing you breakfast."

"I'm not hungry." Vivian answered and stared through the window.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

"But you didn't eat anything since yesterday morning..."

"I'm not hungry mum!" she raised her voice a little bit and didn't stop staring through the window.

Her mum put the plate on a surface right beside Vivian's bed, with the hope she would eat something. Then she left the room.

Vivian didn't turn her head around to see what her mother has brought her, she just looked out of the window where the leafs were falling down from the trees.

The last time someone visited her was five weeks ago. She wasn't sure if she still had friends or if anyone knew her because she wasn't in school for more than two months.

Outside her room she heard someone talking. The door opend again. This time it was her father.

"I'm not hungry." she said right away.

"I know. Mum told me." he sat down on the chair next to the bed.

"How are you feeling, honey?" he asked her in a calm voice.

"Like everyday since the last two months..." she responded while staring through the window.

"Listen... I know it's not easy for you, for us neither...," he looked down at the floor. Vivian heard in her father's voice that something wasn't right. She looked at him, trying to guess what happend.

"What?" she asked

"It's about... about your sickness..." Vivian heard her mother crying outside the room.

"What? Do I have to stay in bed for two more months?"

"Oh my god," her father whispered "The doctors said there is no healing..." he started to cry. "They... they... they said you'll might have just some weeks to live."

Vivian was shocked. Thousand thoughts went through her mind. For a moment everything was silent. She saw her father crying and outside the wind was blowing. It seemed like the world stopped turning for a minute.

Suddenly someone hugged her.

"Oh Vivian!" her mother was sheding tears.

"Mum...Dad..." Vivans voice vibrated and she felt the tears in her eyes.

"We will do anything to make you feel happy! Just tell us your wishes!" her father hugged both.

"We love you Vivian and we will always love you!"

"How long do you know that?" she was trying hard not to cry.

"The doctors told us yesterday. We didn't know how to tell you..." her mother and father sat down.

"Honwy do you want something?"

"I... I don't know..." Vivian said confused.

"Come, we'll leave her alone for a moment." her father said to her mother.

As they left the room, Vivian started to cry. Sheou couldn't believe what her parents told her. Not one thought was on her mind right now.

It was getting dark and another day passed.

The next morning Vivian woke up. It was a special day for her. Not just because the sun was shining again after six weeks. It was also her 16 birthday. She wasn't very excited about it but she knew that this is going to be her last birthday, so she was trying to do her best. In her room were red roses everywhere. This was the first time she smiled again since she was sick. Roses were her favourite flowers. She had everything with roses: her school bag, her earrings, her shoes, her bedclothes and her room was painted red.

"Mum! Dad!" she called.

"Happy Birthday, honey!" her parents enterd her room with a cake.

"This is for you, from us!" they handled the cake over to her.

"Wow!" Vivian was surprised. "A rose-cake!" she said happy.

The cke had a shape like a rose and colored red.

"Thank you so much! I love you mum and dad!"

Her mother started crying and kissed her.

"Viv, darling, I'm sorry but we can't stay at home with you the whole day,"

her father told her. "I have to go to work because they're going to fire me if I'm not coming. And mum has to go to the doctor because of the baby."

"OK. I'm ok with that."

"We can call someone to come over so you won't be alone."

"No, it's ok."

One hour later

Vivian was lying in bed the whole morning. She was alone, observing the weather and the birds outside. She stood up, took a block and a pencil and went back to bed. She wrote something down. After two hours her mother was back home.

"Honey I'm back!" she walked right into Vivian's room.

"Hey mum!" Vivian turned fastly the block so her mum couldn't see what she was writing.

"What are you writing?"

"Uhm... nothing... Tell me, mum, how was it at the doctor? What did he say?"

"It was fine. He said the baby is good and that there shouldn't be any problems."

"Cool... and did you and dad find a name for her?"

"We're not sure yet. We wanted to ask you. So... what do you think?"

"I don't know. I'm not good at making this kind of decisions."

None of both said anything. Vivian felt that her destiny was very hard to take for her parents.

With every day she felt more weak. She knew the day is coming closer, when she's going to close her eyes forever.

One day her mother came back from the doctor. She found a letter on the table. She opend it and started to read.

Dear Mum and Dad,

I thank you for everything you did in my life. I love you so much! I never knew that this could happen. The past months weren't easy for us. You thought there wouldn't be any happy days again. But look, my sister is coming soon. I have just one wish: Tell my sister that I loved her!

With love, Vivian

Her mother dropped the letter and ran crying into Vivian's room.

"Vivian! No!" she shook her but Vivian was gone...

Two weeks later Vivian's mother gave birth to a child. It was a girl and they called her Vivian Rose
