Msixty Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 just to say.... i am appauled that this crock of shit is still on TV, the very fact that the american public would not just tolarate but actually enjoy this fucking show is beyond me. the entire point of the show is to see this jack asshole kill, mame, and torture people for no apperent plot line corrasponding reason, even when it's to get 'information' it is taken way too far and is no good at making the fucking show any better, jesus christ people it's a fucking stupid overly violent show with no point to it, stop fucking watching it and get on a tredmill, you mindless hamster ass mother fuckers! erm.... right, now for a more adult explenation of why i feel that way... In a recent episode of 24 this 'Jack' guy (i think that's his name) is faced with finding a nuke in a city, he not only fails to find the nuke, but gets a whole bunch (say, clost to millions) of innocent people killed when the nuke goes off. he has a terrorist that he needs for questoning, who had members of a specal forces team beg for their lives on tv before he cut off their heads. now, the commander of that team is jack's 'partner' and in revenge he takes the terrorist hostage outside the building he was detained in with the intention of shooting him, jack, our ever fearless hero then shoots the specal forces leader in the throat, killing him, why? to save a fucking terrorist so he can find a bomb, moments after the specal forces leader dies, the nuke goes off and a really shitty green screen mushroom cloud erupts in the background (slanting slightly across the screen like a 3 year old layered it in) and the terrorist? he just drives away in the back seat of a very nice SUV, under government protection. then the plot is dragged out like a dead horse being beaten behind a moving truck by saying, "omg, there are 4 more nukes" the only half funny part is that los angeles got nuked...... i think. The entire premise revolves around terrorists and enemies of our country getting their asses kicked. You sound like that liberal Matt Lauer. He said the same thing about the show: nothing more than violence and torture. However, the show actually features very few torture scenes. And when they do, 99% of the time they are terrorists. It was actually a dirty bomb. Though I don't know for sure as the episode ended in a cliff-hanger, articles I have read about it (yes, I'm a 24 nerd) state the causalities won't be that high. However, this was one of things I was referring to when I mentioned the show jumping the shark. This bit was a little too much for me. Msixty Posted January 19, 2007 Author Posted January 19, 2007 they killed an american specal forces member to save a terrorist who didn't do them any good, fuck.that.show. i happen to be a real jackass when it comes to people screwing up trying to portray military affairs get it right or get off the air. and that was not a dirty bomb, a dirty bomb is a conventonal explosive surrounded by a radioactive substance, favoably a powder or small particals, with the effect of the conventonal explosive is used not only to inflict damage on a target but also as a propellent to spread the radioactive particals with the intention of inflicting mass 'aftermath' casualties. in the show there was a big boom, a mushroom cloud, and a blinding flash of light seen for many many many miles, it was a nuke, more specifivally a 'gun' type nuke detonated by firing a bullet of radioactive material into a ball of the same material with such velosity that it causes a catastrophic chain reaction in the atoms, releasing the well known result and spreading the remainder on un-used radioactive particals in 'fallout' i'm all for a show that kills terrorists, but 24 takes it to a dream world and makes the people that actually do that in real life look like assholes. They aren't military. They are federal agents. Curtis just happened to have military experience. and that was not a dirty bomb, You might be right. In the episode it was clearly explained as being a suitcase nuke but the website for the show and on some forums, it was referred to as a dirty bomb. i'm all for a show that kills terrorists, but 24 takes it to a dream world and makes the people that actually do that in real life look like assholes. You might be more interested in the earlier seasons (in particular 4 and 5). They are a little bit more down to earth than what the new season 6 appears to be. In the episode it was clearly explained as being a suitcase nuke but the website for the show and on some forums, it was referred to as a dirty bomb. . well, (no offence) but 90% of the people who watch/write shows like this have no fucking idea what they're talking about. You might be more interested in the earlier seasons (in particular 4 and 5).
