Stenners Posted June 1, 2007 Author Posted June 1, 2007 It just reminds me of when i took shit loads of MDMA, the sound is exactly what i heard when I peaked every song sounded similar its great to have such a song to remind me of such a wonderful experiance. Haha in truth i skipped it alot when i was testing the playlist cause it was a certain length but its finnaly got me! Toxic1 Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 "Rafflesia" isn't that long at 5:33. It just seems like it's long because of the epic feel and pace. You are lost for time because of the whole experience of that amazing sound. "King Rat" is pretty freakin kickin for a B-side. I really wish Modest Mouse would've gone that direction on the new album. "Elouise" sounds really freakin good on first listen. Reminds me of M83, My Bloody Valentine, etc. Quote
Stenners Posted June 1, 2007 Author Posted June 1, 2007 Exactly what I asked myself =( but the EP of discarded songs will hopfully be more like this as they are generally other songs that wouldnt of fit the feel of we were dead. Isaac did say some of his faviroutes didnt make the cut for that reasson but SHOULD be on an EP released assumingly later this year. Then again they are just a band with impressive b-sides what with the whole Building Nothing Out Of Something complilation being one of their finest albums and I've Got It All (Most) being damned impressive Quote Delete my account, the is no reason why it should be against standard procediure, do it do it do it. Toxic1 Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 When 65 Days of Static first came out in 2004 with that Fall of Math album, some of the intros to the songs reminded me of Linkin Park. But the songs and the electronic manipulation were alot more powerful and dynamic than LP could ever hope to achieve. Unfortunately their last two albums aren't that really good. They shouldn't put out music so damn quick and focus on quality and changing it up a bit. A Sunny Day in Glasgow has some very interesting production choices from what I hear in that song. Who put "Transfer Limit" as the 7 second interlude? Quote
Stenners Posted June 1, 2007 Author Posted June 1, 2007 A Sunny Day In Glasgow WILL be in my top 10 albums of the year come the end of 07 Didnt like it at all at first just started getting into it, it's an album of majestic beauty with extremley interesting production. Deffinatly a band to look out for in the future http://drownedinsound.com/release/view/10225 Quote Delete my account, the is no reason why it should be against standard procediure, do it do it do it. Boy, I never thought Feist would take off from Broken Social Scene even when all these hip hop dudes wanted to get with her for collabs. But she's definitely finding some success now. Quote
Stenners Posted June 1, 2007 Author Posted June 1, 2007 ^^ I can thank itunes for leading me to the realm of Maps for putting it up as their free download for the week (the said song i put on the playlist) I was confused as to what song to put in the playlist. Maps is really cool as it's like electronic shoegaze only it sounds totally relevent to todays sound. Toxic1 Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 Yndi Halda sounds like they are lost in 1999-2000 at the height of when everybody wanted to be like Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Pretty damn good nonetheless. Especially for a rainy day. I'm just not into post-rock as much these days for some reason. Well except for the spacey jazzy stuff like Do Make Say Think and Bark Psychosis. I never tire of them. Quote

Toxic1 Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 U seem pretty impressed with alot of the playlist, which is good =D Yeah, this one is alot better than last month's playlist. Alot more even as well. At least the LP choice was one of the halfway decent songs. Is that an Ebow being used on No More Sorrow or am I goin nuts? Quote
Stenners Posted June 1, 2007 Author Posted June 1, 2007 ^^ I had a knack of ramming in the tracks that caught my ear but never left an impression, the time delays where for multiple reassons usualy down to the fact I was busy but I also wanted to try n listen to more of the music I had recently got. 1st thing I noticed was how most of the tracks I was choosing where usualy old rather then new, which altough is fine it deffies the purpose of which I set up the playlist in the first place. 2nd thing was how I had grown fed up with the original tracks I put on the playlist, by this point I had recently downloaded, baught or heard alot of albums. I wanted to truley pick up the highlights rather then the buzz songs. This is what I have failed to capitalise on in previous playlists, as a result though I already have a fair bunch lined up for the next one with the promise of more to come. No more time delays next time! Ok? Good.......... QOTSA's "Battery Acid" sounds like it has a pillow stuffed over it. Takes it away from being a great song. I hear a fun song under that pillow though.......... Quote
Stenners Posted June 1, 2007 Author Posted June 1, 2007 ^^ It could n im streching this COULD be something to do with the rip, the sound on that is weird not only do some songs jump n yes SLOOOOOOW down its an advance leak we wont know till its out what it REALLY sounds like though. I felt like that bout the majority of the QOTSA album so it is either production or sound quality of the rip. Friðbjörn Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 album: fishscale artist: ghostface killa genre: gangsta rap This album got a lot of praise last year. Got toted as hip hop album of the year, and I think it was on metacritic where it got good reviews and high scores. Something is messed up with that. I'll agree that hip hop had a slack year (at least commercially) last year, but to give this album a high score is not justified. It's just the same old mainstream gangsta rap stuff as you'll hear other places. The lyrical content can be summed up in this sentence: "I deal crack and hold up liquor stores in the projects, and btw, I'm bangin your sister (insert detailed description of sexual activity), NIGGA!" Not very deep. And frankly I'm gettin tired of rap where it's either this, or the rapper's battlin an imaginary opponent, and introducin his homies in between. The track Jellyfish was interesting. I thought the melody was gonna be good, but nope, then they just repeat the same two tones over and over again. And then Ghost does something terrible...he sings. And it isn't bad, it's horrible, and offkey, and I dunno what. I know rap beats are based on repetition in 4/4, but you still gotta do better than that. It just hurts the ears. The only good things about this album are the diversity musically, heard in rock, funk, pop, jazz (and more) influences, and then when the drums actually do a cool beat, which doesn't happen too many times. Oh and, the skits are interesting. Lyrical content is also repetition. Ghost is just recyclin what he hears everyday. He isn't doin anything new, and he has no flow. Seriously, what was he thinkin? I've heard the guy do decent things, and I mean he was on Wu-tang. Did I also mention that this album has 24 tracks??? Not too many of them are skits either. So this is too much material, of bad material. I mean...24? By track 10 or so I was already tired, thinkin "when's this gonna be over?". The only really good moments are when a guest rapper, good lyrical topic, and a nice beat, are combined. That's about 5% of the album. Ghost: Kick the habit, kick the producers, go listen to some decent underground lyricists, and come back after 5 years and then MAYBE try doing something. Rating: 1,2/10.
