Stenners Posted July 28, 2007 Author Posted July 28, 2007 We tried multi review propersistions before and ALWAYS ended up contridicting each other it was a total mess. You have to wait for everyone to listen to it I often found Jeezy wouldn't give too many albums more then 1 look if he didnt like it straight away.... which hurt the average verdict. HaziLPTonz Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 well...the point of having multiple reviews is so its not biased? just because you dont like it,doesnt mean someone else wont or will, some people who may have jeezys taste in music may like something jeezy reviewed that stenners gave a crap score or vice versa. and in a way, it opens discussion, we cant just have ...review...reivew..."ooh wow, what a great review", it gets repetitive, and sometimes we want a second opinion or a third Quote http://www.sucksbbs.net/data/MetaMirrorCache/ddd296f8f90eca79dbafae096b6d28b3.jpg
Stenners Posted July 29, 2007 Author Posted July 29, 2007 A lot less will get coverd, last album that got multiple scores didnt get multiple scores for 2 weeks! + i'm not littering my harddisk with music I dont want or hurting my ratio on private torrent sites. I do occasionally download specificly out of the interest of others on this forum (Yellowcard, Korn, etc.) but usualy something I been looking at, thats been highly antiscipated or looks interesting. HaziLPTonz Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 well i dont mean YOU hafta do em all, there are other members who im sure can give reviews, theres also jeezy and fri, toxic has a good knowledge on music and probably a few others,or just independent reviews(something like metacritic-not the best example-, but similar), we could just have iono, a random every now and then, there are also those who just may not be bothered, and in anycase, for the purposes of a review, its only maybe listen over a number of times then you discard anyways...am i right? i cant honestly see you keep yellowcard EVER even if you were to inexplicably give em a 10 Quote http://www.sucksbbs.net/data/MetaMirrorCache/ddd296f8f90eca79dbafae096b6d28b3.jpg

Stenners Posted July 29, 2007 Author Posted July 29, 2007 http://www.hartfordyork.com/images/uploads/413_large.gif *Insert suitable pic here* Artist: Go! Team Album: Proof Of Youth Genre: Lo-Fi/Indie/Hip Hop/Noise/Cheerleader Rewind me back to the summer of 2004, it's a light summers breeze with the sunshine battering on my vulnarable lil self I have the cd player on in the days of lesser music taste (in my opinion) I still listend to The Go! Team, a summery band hailing from the south of England have got a bit of a thing going for them..... where the hell have they been though! My world felt empty without more 60's tv tune esc samples, the child hood chanty vocals & the sound of multiple drummers doing their thing. They are back and ready once again to take me for a fun fun ride, do they do this well? YES! Thank God they do! This album is pretty much the fun people look for its dancey, different and not at all pompus, sure they still sound like 2 or 3 bands playing at once at times and each of those bands sound like they are on coke and going a lil crazy with their instruments at a pretty high tempo.... but it's that what I love about them. http://217.194.218.196/artists/00009340_go%21team376.jpg THe opener is a great little dancey track but where as 'Grip Like A Vice' tires the other tracks reveal their charms at the same time leaving this album with a pretty good shelf life tracks such as 'Fake ID' are charming and old skool Go! Team but the best tracks such as 'Titanic Vanderlism' and 'Doing It Right' are noisey sound like several bands are playing but hell it works it all fits and in an incredibly dancey way. The cheerleader style suits them down a tee the isn't as much rapping as I feared on this album 'Grip Like A Vice' sure has plenty but the pleasent suprise is Public Enermys Chuck D's contribution on 'Flashlight Fight' which a lil bitty gem in its own right. Another nice contribution includes Bonde Do Role who have actually grown on me a bit (give it a 5/10 now btw) on the fun 'Universal Speech'. Sure the are flaws the is sometimes a bit too much going on but this gets less irritating on each listen, basically this is a band still in form and aren't dead yet! Rating: 8.5/10 Reccomended: Grip Like A Vice, Doing It Right, Fake ID, Universal Speech, The Wrath Of Marcie & Flashlight Fight Grip Like A Vice http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=JvIRY4vccts Quote Delete my account, the is no reason why it should be against standard procediure, do it do it do it. Toxic1 Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 pretty nice album.. that trumpet toot song is total crap IMO though ^_^ but i like the rest of it Well, you would be the first I heard with that reaction. Everybody else that has mentioned it has in pretty high regard. It's a hella dense song with many crazy and complicated arrangements rolling with a fury of noise. Stenners: The opener, The Mending of the Gown, actually kinda reminds me of a crazier Arcade Fire with the chimy piano and male/female shouts. Pretty catchy song. By the way, great review. This album is top 10 of the year material. I'm really loving "Magic Vs Midas" right now. Awesome song. As well as "The Courtesan Has Sung". Anyhow looking forward to listening to this new Go! Team again. Been quite busy lately. Quote

Team album was alot more digestable once I got used to the clutterd sound they are customed to (despite already having gotten over it on their first album) and I liked it alot more the 2nd play, the 3rd play was also very enjoyable so you will probably like it more then you did on initial listen. Unfortunately it hasn't been released in many countries. The opening of the album is great..it starts with Igen Og Igen. This song is probably the most notable song on the whole record. The album has great production and it has a very clear and clean sound. They mix the usual rock instrumentation with Keyboards and Synths and they do it in a very nice way...it never seems to stick out too much and keeps it all simple. It doesn't sound too poppish. The only problem I have with this album is that I don't really understand the lyrics. It's mostly in Danish. For a rock album this is much better than most of the stuff from comparable bands like Maximo Park or Mando Diao Best tracks on the album: Igen Og Igen Taxa Triumf Science Fiction Og Familien Hospital Weakest track: Cigaret Kid Overall rating: 7.5/10 if anyone wants to check them out here are the 2 tracks "Igen Og Igen" and "Hospital" http://rapidshare.com/files/45956290/nephew.zip.html Quote

Fiery Furnaces seem to be one of the best in proving these cynics wrong by being one of the catchiest Alternative Pop bands on the scene without the need of BURST at you choruses, with clever arrangments & sweet melodies they assure your attention threw out and stick in your mind an example of this will be 'Automatic Husband' the plinky plonky synth and vocal delivery get wedged in my mind. Back to this point the vocal delivery is incredibly odd but not in an offensive way, it's very endearing and approachable & not scary. As with quite a few albums comming out this year its all a tightly packed record with each song leading onto the next but unlike some of them they do work very well stand alone 'Ex-Guru' being a good example of this. http://www.nowtoronto.com/issues/2006-06-15/music_feature3-1.jpg What we have here is an album which thrills and pleases in equal amounts the sweet soft synth melodies with the wacky guitar work just pleases the ear. The arrangments are the only thing I can see people having problems with especially in the longer songs where it seems a bit random but they make sense eventually. Tightly packed and good fun if not a little a little self endulgant at times 'Clear Signal From Ciaro' is wayyyy too long. The first track was a good opener already...it had me after 2 seconds....and after one minute I decided to grab my headphones to get the full experience. After a great opener like that you could think the 2nd track will let you down...but it doesn't..it just keeps on getting better. What I really like about that record are the tempo changes...and the very differnt instruments they use..you don't get to hear that every day. I also like the transitions between the tracks. Overall they did a great job on creating a whole experience....you really have to listen to this record from the beginning to the end without skipping a track. It's worth it. I don't really know what track is my favorite from this album....but if I would have to choose I would say "The Taming Of The Hands That Came Back To Life"... Actually the whole album is worth checking out....if you want something different. Tracks I recommend: The Taming Of The Hands That Came Back To Life Child Heart Loses Colt Stands Up, Grows Horns The Courtesan Has Sung and The Mending Of The Gown Rating: 9/10 next reviews : Talib Kweli "Eardrum" and Common "Finding Forever" Quote

Rating: 8.75/10 Reccomended: The Philadelphia Grand Jury, Automatic Husband, Navy Nurse Interesting take on the Furnaces Sten. Glady you were able to listen and review the new album. You are new to 'em? Anyhow, Clear Signal From Cairo is the clear highlight. The first half of the album actually all the way up to Navy Nurse is nearly flawless and the rest kinda opens up with more listens since it's not quite as catchy. They are really back on form from their Rehearsing My Choir venture. Blueberry Boat is still their top album and it's kinda hard to top an album like that. Such an adventure mindfuck if I ever heard one. Especially those first few listens. You might really dig their debut, Gallowsbird's Bark, since it has more of a garage feel to it. Bitter Tea has amazing highlights, but can be a little overboard sounding since they didn't use their drummer and Matt was going mad with his keyboard fetish (ignoring his amazing guitar playing). With that said, I request you review Mt Eerie the album. An album that a few reviewers didn't quite get it and disliked, but for the most part it really intrigued most others. Esp. the Alt Press and Pitchfork from what I remember. And of course me. This would be my favourite album of Phil Elvrum's under any of his monikers. Including the album Glow Part II. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Eerie_%28album%29 Quote
