Stenners Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 What 10 album are currently being spun more than any other on ur stereo/pc? Basically all u have to do is list them, though you may justify them. Not only does this enable people to see your taste but people may also find some nice new music. I will start 1. Portishead - Dummy My freinds recently introduced me to this weird and atmospheric album and I love it. I recognised the first track 'Mysterons' and I remember loving that too. Great music with originallity but the o so vital dose of familiarity. 2. Modest Mouse - We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank This one is getting so many plays that it could burn a circle hole in my computer, I quite frankily love its consistency, the is no need to get up and skip anything and its because of that I love playing it. I can shove it on and switch my mind off without having to think threw what track I want to play next, better than their last release 'Good News For People Who Love Bad News' and I like that album to. 3. The Pixies - Doolittle This one keeps on finding its way back into my cd circulation, I would get bored of it and stop playing it every so often but after 2 weeks or so it's way back up there. One of the most consistently brilliant albums I have ever heard in my life. 4. The Go! Team - Thunder, Lightning, Strike Like The Pixies, this one worms its way back into my circulation way too easily and like The Pixies is one of the most consistently enjoyable albums in my life. It releases your inner child too which always a plus! 5. The Little Ones - Sing Song I'm never usualy swayed by Pop Rock but this album totally took me by suprise, amazingly simple yet effective melodies with great hooks. All of the songs are instantly recognisable which means that everyone that listens to them instantly likes them, they are truley gifted in getting an audience. 6. Sonic Youth - Rather Ripped This one hasn't been in my circulation for very long, its always taken and stomach and ears of certain type to appriciate their music and this is no different. It's quite simple, if you love sonic youth you will love this, this has recently replaced Goo on my list. 7. Deerhoof' - Green Cosmos Pardon me but their weirdness alone really deserves them to be listend, this album is just fun and soo different without being scary and unapproachable. 8. The Triffids - Born Sandy Devotional Again just been introduced to them and this is a very fresh and early opinion but right now I love the sound in general of the album, I will see if it has any staying power but I feel it will, I can feel plenty of depth. 9. The Long Blondes - Someone To Drive You Home All I can really say about this band is wow, took my breathe away the first time I heard them and now I have their album its making it's self at home in my cd changer and I feel it may be there for a fair while ya know 10. Beck - Mellowgold This has made it back in my circulation too, which is quite amazing as I hadn't listend to it for a good year or so, now im back in love with it! Now its up to u, post ur own lists and comment on others please Quote Delete my account, the is no reason why it should be against standard procediure, do it do it do it. crazy robster Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Sooo... let's see what a music nOOb like me has to contribute... Albums I've been listening to a lot lately... My music collection is not as rich as Matt's but here's a few albums that he and other buddies have helped me get familiar with and I have appreciated quite a lot! Kaiser Chiefs - Employment. Kaisers previous album, I gotta admit I love it, it made me love the band and their music. Kaiser Chiefs - Yours Truly, Angry Mob. latest album, not really have it yet but been listening to it through the internet and I must say (personal opinion always) I'm thrilled. Love it as much as their old stuff. Modest Mouse - We Were Dead Before The Ship Sunk. Mattie's latest gift to me. The Mousey is a band which in my opinion needs a fair amount of listening to grow on you but their latest work is really good, favourite tracks of mine are Dashboard, We've Got Everything and Missed the Boat. Modest Mouse - The Moon and Antarctica another good album by them I've been listening to and made me start liking them. Muse - Black Holes and Revelations. Muse is a great band I love their style, my favourite tracks by them are Supermassive Black Hole, Starlight and Knights of Cydonia. Amity Lane - The Sound of Regret. Peter gave me this album I have to admit it's one of those albums that I particularly like listening to in the evening! I call it evening rock!! Lol Yellowcard - Lights And Sounds. I am a fan of their style of music, didn't particularly like their previous albums but this one is just a very good one as far as I'm concerned. Evanescence - The Open Door. *hides from Matt lol* yes I admit I have been listening to this album quite a lot lately!! Lithium is one of those songs that really touch me. Offspring - Greatest Hits. A really good band, I like them. Just like that My top fav bands Linkin Park and Good Charlotte are releasing their new albums soon so I'm taking a break and reserving my excitement for the new albums...lol That's about it  Quote [broken External Image]:http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g189/rbffe/rob_opens-eyes.gif My sis about Rob: "You'll be celebrating your golden infatuation with him one day.."
Stenners Posted February 28, 2007 Author Posted February 28, 2007 ^^ Nothing too special but i certainly wouldnt throw ur speakers out the window, unless Evanescence came on.... and maybe Yellowcard. Jeezy Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 ok let's start LP "Hybrid Theory" well....just getting back into LP mood Korn "Unplugged" it's great to hear some new unplugged stuff...I love their "Creep" cover on there and the song with Robert Smith Bruce Springsteen "Nebraska" Damn that's a nice album it's so simple and dark...one of Springsteens best CDs Bruce Springsteen "Born To Run" Almost as good as "Nebraska" but more polished and mainstream in my oppinion Fall Out Boy "Infinity On High" I think it's probably their best album so far...and it's just pure fun Kanye West "College Dropout" Probably one of the best Hip Hop CDs within the last 7 years Booka Shade "Movements" Great music to relax and to get inspired K-OS "Atlantis" Nice album...really steps out of the typical style of Hip Hop CDs..it's a great mix Bloc Party "A Weekend In The City" In my oppinion better than their 1st CD Justin FS/LS I always play that in my kitchen... Quote
Stenners Posted February 28, 2007 Author Posted February 28, 2007 College Dropout was a good solid album, though still flawed. Fallout Boys new album is there best to date and if u like it, u like it. I can see why people like stadium rock, I couldnt see why people would possibly 'Love' their older stuff. Bloc Party's CD would of been in my list this time last week, probably. However it wouldnt suprise me if it worms its way back into myn. Just Timberlakes album was actually okay and if u the sluightest intesrest in that area of pop im sure u would love it. Friðbjörn Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 in no particular order: limp bizkit - greatest hits (spelling that with a z is just cheesy) got some of their best work, a lot of the time good stuff to listen to when angry. fred durst's rhymes are kinda slack but wes, sam, john and lethal make up for it. fred's angry stuff is good though deftones - saturday night wrist love this album to death. track's are a bit unexpected, but you recognize the deftones elements. got some new ambient stuff, U,U,D,D,L,R,L,R,A,B,Select,Start, and then some hardcore like Rats!Rats!Rats!, and then just general rockin it out, like Kimdracula and hole in the earth. sigur rós - untitled album, called "( )" probably the best album out there if you ask me. first tracks are a little mellow, in a good way. one track kinda bluesy, track 4's just awesome, and then the second half, the other 4 songs...wow. aside from the 13 minute boring song number 7 the 2nd part kills. 5 and 6 are the saddest most emotional songs I've ever heard, but again I'm often in the mood for that. track 8 is then simply the best song ever to be written...download it here http://sigur-ros.mistur.org/sigur_ros_untitled8.mp3 pure magnificence m?*nus(minus) - halldór laxness a little hard rock for ya. just straight up rockin it out on most tracks, no bullshit. think they define as post hardcore. at the drive-in - relationship of command most powerful band to see live, too bad they split. really great album. think they're post hardcore too. awesome guitar work. great tracks like one armed scissor, pattern against user and invalid litter dept. sigur rós - takk... great songwriting. not as good as the predecessor I think, which was ( ) but this is definately no disappointment. they go into something like almost rock at times, bit progressive in sæglópur, and then you got the emotion in songs like gong and svo hljótt. hopp?*polla, aka the happy song lol, they're most accessible work so far. still a great song. rage against the machine - renegades great album, especially for a cover album. love their version of well...basically all of the songs, except I don't find I'm housin, down on the street and pistol grip pump that great. but yeah, good stuff. rammstein - reise, reise their best album, imo. the most solid one. really good old hard rock songs like keine lust, amerika and mein teil, and new directions taken, in songs like ohne dich and los. rammstein - rosenrot it isn't that awesome at times, but I listen to it a lot now though. benzin does have the coolest beginning I've heard in a long time. ein lied is the new nebel, still not the same in any way really. just a more quiet brilliant song. some songs are not my cup of tea really, lack some spark, but others like mann gegen mann, rosenrot, spring, and te quiero puta (nice work with the brass btw lol) do deliver. nevolution - jumstop theory some metal right there. they define themselves as swedish metal, good description I think. they've both got the heavy metal aspect with distortion riffs etc and the melodic parts, and blend excellently at times Quote [broken External Image]:http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/2784/lpfas08mostintelligentym8.jpg
Stenners Posted February 28, 2007 Author Posted February 28, 2007 ^^ really in disagreement over Limp Bizkit im afraid, can't really find any justification for it to be honest, other than everyone knows a couple songs. Renegades has some awesome covers on it though its their most slack album, How I Could Just Kill A Man is just great though. Stenners Posted February 28, 2007 Author Posted February 28, 2007 Yah it creeps out of me from time to time! lol Nah Results May Vary was offficialy the worst album of 2003 its average score was like 30 out of 100 or something on metacritic (which takes into account all reviews) and it had 2 real bad covers on it. On a lighter note their earlier stuff is babrable, I hated them in particular when the album 'Chocolate Starfish and Hotdog flavoured water' came out. Black_Angel Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 "Infinity On High" - Fall Out Boy Yeah, recently got this album, tis good! Catchy, poppy, sugary as hell but I just can't help liking it :] "Remains" - Alkaline Trio Got this recently too, it's a collection of B-sides and covers and other stuff, but it's brilliant. "be your own PET" - be your own PET I love the vocals! That girl has one ace voice! Plus they really piss my mum off ^^ "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not" - Arctic Monkeys I proper bum Sheffield accents. Listening to this more and more makes me feel worse about not getting tickets to see them tonight though.... bah! "Stop The Clocks" - Oasis Legends. That is all. "Showbiz" - Muse Recently fell in love with their first album (again). My favourite band ever, love this album, it's so poppy and just acemagic really :] "Black Holes And Revelations" - Muse Yeah... "Costello Music" - The Fratellis Hasn't really left my CD player since it came out. Quote i still love you, girl from mars.
HaziLPTonz Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 at this point in time.... Taking Back Sunday-Louder Now:Partone its a really good album, one of the best of 06, alot of smooth vocals and hard guitaring. plus the dvd is fuckin hilarious. Fall Out Boy-Infinity on High like all of the above, quite catchy, easy to listen to, something on the side now and then Anberlin-Cities gotta say this is easily their best album, very dark and moody. godspeed is an awesome track, hope they get a fair bit more recognition for this alb than their last few, which werent bad mind u, iv seen worse sell better Panic! at the Disco- A Fever You Can't Sweat Out like FOB, quite catchy, especially tracks like lying is~ and time to dance. although nothing special, quite easy to listen to. friend got me into them, not a bad band, a little too much on the MTV side of things, but take that prejudice away and theyre a good band to listen to The Killers-Sam's Town, and Hot Fuss a few easy to listen to albums, very nice, though again nothing special, good for a listen now and then Yellowcard-Lights and Sounds sort of just getting back into them since their new albums coming out, tracks like lights and sounds, city of devils and hollywood died make this a very good album, although critically acclaimed, people just didnt get into the whole concept album thing, shame that most of YCs original fans were teeny boppers.... Linkin Park-Meteora no reason, just relistening to older stuff, gotta say this is still my fave LP album Fort Minor-Green Lantern Mixtape this is such an awesome alb.full stop. Armor for Sleep-What to do When your dead i dont know why im listening to this album so much lately, but i am, fairly good album and for some reason, my friend got me into Snow Patrol-Eyes Open very mellow, just sit back and listen Quote http://www.sucksbbs.net/data/MetaMirrorCache/ddd296f8f90eca79dbafae096b6d28b3.jpg
Person Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 One X - Three Days Grace -Just a pure masterpiece. The Paramour Sessions - Papa Roach - Very easy to listen to and has some awesome songs such as "Alive (N' Out Of Control)", "Forever", and "Never Too Late". City of Evil - Avenged Sevenfold - After a year, I still find myself listening to this CD. I just friggin like it Meteora - Linkin Park -Pff come on! It's Linkin Park!(says it like Brad in squeaky voice). Probably my favorite album. Daughtry - Daughtry - Was an American Idol contestant but that shouldn't pull away from his talent. I love the dudes' voice...very awesome CD. Catch Without Arms - Dredg - This CD has been here for the past two years. I love their style of music. Definitely worth checking out! Every Man for Himself - Hoobastank - To me, this is their best CD to date. Their songs are very easy to listen to, and songs like "More Than A Memory" make it even better. A Fever You Can't Sweat Out - Panic! At The Disco - So what if it's P!ATD? Their style of music is different and I like it. 'Nuff said. Someone In Control - Trapt - Meh, one of my favorite bands and because of that, they deserve to be on here. Most of their songs are alright but my lack of CD's actually has them on here hehehe. Underground V6.0 - Linkin Park HA! I'm in the LPU and you're NOT! Anyways, APS is pure awesomeness...the two QWERTY's are cool too. 6 songs are enough to make this CD great >.> Quote
Linkin_lp_park Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Linkin Park - Meteora My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade Bullet For My Valentine - The Poison Breaking Benjamin - Phobia Silent Civilian - Rebirth of The Temple Nickelback - All The Right Reasons Trapt - Someone in Control Story of The Year - In the Wake of Determination Evanescence - Fallen Mudvayne - Lost And Found This is what i listen to the most:) Quote ιη тнє ѕιℓєη¢є σƒ тнє ∂αякηєѕѕ
Stenners Posted March 11, 2007 Author Posted March 11, 2007 +1^ 1. Modest Mouse - We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank I found a new love for what I thought to be the 'lesser' songs on the album there for bumping it to the most played CD I own right now! +1^ 2. The Pixies - Doolittle Can't stop listening to it at the moment it's just one of those great rock albums yah know...... way ahead of its time. -2V 3.Portishead - Dummy One of the best making out albums ever, in my opinion. That alone deserves to make it into my chart though it has slipped recently, getting a lil bored of it. NEW! 4. Mernie Stern - Advance Of The Broken Arm Those guitar licks will probably never get boring, they are just insane and im suprise she didnt break her arm playing that GEE-TAR. <> 5. +4^ 6. The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow This is just pure pop bliss, I loved this album when i first heard it and ever since then I have loved it. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sex Sugar Majik I dunno why this one is back in my list, it has been a long long time since I listend to this. Deerhoof - Friend Opputuntiy I recently reviewed this and liked it, captures the imagination which I really wish I still have when I hit their age. NEW! 10. Stllmn8j Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 Top 10 for last week 1.Rammstein-Reise,Reise Their greatest album, from the accordian of Reise,Reise ,to the shock of Mein Teil,to the ballad of Ohne Dich . 2.Maylene and The Sons Of Disaster-The Day Hell Broke Loose At Sicard Hollow EP Amazingly somewhat catchy hybrid of Southern Rock and Modern Hardcore, but done without most of the screaming that marred their otherwise great first release. 3.Norma Jean-Redeemer An amazing display of technical metal playing rarely seen today, almost like pop influenced chaos 4.Apathy-Eastern Philosophy Some amazing lyrics on this album, proving he may truly be a philosopher 5.Underoath-Define The Great Line Their most consistent album by far, proves that they can make some epic songs 6.Celldweller-Self Titled 7.Eisbrecher-Antikörper 8.Rammstein-Völkerball 9.From First To Last-Heroine 10.Norma Jean-Bless The Martyr And Kiss The Child Quote
DarknessLover Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 In NO Particular order Hoobastank - Every Man For Himself After realising me and my girlfriends song was The Reason, I sparked intrest into some other songs from his albums. I got this one and realised it has some great songs, not many hits. With "Born To Lead" and "Look Where We Are" 's guitars, I have to say this is one of Hoobastanks best albums. Dope - Group Therapy This is one of my favorite Dope albums. With "Paranoia" I relate to that song, since I have an odd case of paraoia. That song has a great alter ego to it. One side is like doubting it, and one part is like, there is someone. Also another great song on it "Motivation." Something about the effects they use just grip me. Dope - American Apathy I just love this album. There are so many great songs. "People Are People"'s reality of what this world is, and the gripping lyrics in "Dream" just captivate you. On the Bonus Album with it, it has a Cover of "You Spin Me Right Round." I didn't like the original but this metal/insutrial remix I just enjoy. "I'm Back" has addicting lyrics and you just want to hear it over and over. Evanescence - Fallen I love the two hits on this Album ("Bring Me To Life" and "Going Under"). There are also some other great songs. I love "Tourniquet." It has great guitars and her voice just perectly blends with the song. Metallica - Metallica My friend is a Metallica Mad Fan. He doesn't shut up about it. So I decided to get a Album. I heard Sandman, and was intrested in hearing more. I love "Sad but True" with the great guitars and lyrics meaning. The album overall is pretty great. Linkin Park - Underground 6.0 This has to be one of the best Undergrounds. I have all the albums, and this is by far the best. It includes QWERTY which was everyones favorite at one point or another. I loved "Announcement Service Public." I also really enjoyed the Acoustic Piano version of "Pushing Me Away." I question some of Mike's Piano in it, but Chester's great voice just wants you to go up on stage and sing with him. The cover of Xero (well not really a cover but whatever) "Reading My Eyes" is just fantastic. It's great to hear Mike rap like that again, seeing as how some of his raps have slowed down over time. I didn't really appreciate hearing another "Breaking The Habit" Piano again, it was on the last two before that. My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade I wasn't completely comfortably buying this album at first, but that doubt left me once I put it in the car's stereo. The great beginning with the "The End." and "Dead!" together, just made me realise "Wow, they really don't want to be labeled Emo anymore. Throughout the Album I felt a Pink Floyd feel in the Album, and some songs make you think you have heard it before. "Teenagers" is a very intresting song. The song really refers to the "popular" kids and the wanna-be's. The drums in "House of Wolves" just makes you wish you had your own drum set to play that. "Mama" was an intresting piece of work. I have yet to understand what the song is about, but the guitar is very odd, it is very, 'wavy'. The bonus song at the end of the Album "Blood" reminds me of a Monty Python film, very funny ending. Wolfmother - Wolfmother This Album has been my favorite for awhile. The fact that it has an older sound to it, it made me feel like I was listening to Classic Rock. I couldn't help myself from loving "White Unicorn." That song has some great guitar work, and the chorus, though heavier then the rest of the song, still blends in perfectly with the song. Then there was songs like "Apple Tree" where I just thought, damn. The up-beat tempo just grabs you. "Where Eagles Have Been" 's slow guitar work at the start just makes you feel like you are in a dream world. The last song on the album "Vagabond" has this child's field to it. The drum has the sound as if there is a basketball hitting the ground and the guitar is very 'playful'. Breaking Benjamin - Phobia The hit "Diary of Jane" needs no explanation, the song's guitars, and equally great lyrics, just control you and make you feel like you are there with the band. "Evil Angel" has some great parts to it, from the beginning, the drums, to the verse's, with the pleasant guitar. I just wanted to sing along with the Aaron since his voice is just so enchanting in this song. "Until The End" has a great guitar, very simple, but enjoyable. The song itself is very nice to listen to. After listening to just beginning you know this is going to be a great song. Then there was "Topless." This song is heavy from start to finish. The Verse's aren't as heavy, but the pre-chorus, chorus, start, and finish all make up for it. The song is rather hard for a Breaking Benjamin song. The bonus track at the end "Diary of Jane (Acoustic) is much more mellow. The original version is a bit hateful, but this one is just depressing, it's a great song to listen to after a break up (I should know). Various Artists - Stubbs The Zombie (Soundtrack) This has to be one of the funniest games ever to be created. The game is based in 50's climate so the soundtrack plays along that, being a 50's cover album. Starting with "Lollipop" Covered by Ben Kweller clapping and acoustic guitar, you couldn't help but sing along and maybe even clap your hands to the beat, I know I couldn't help myself. Then there was "Earth Angel" covered by Death Cab For Cutie is a very good slow song, this kind of song makes you want to just be with your girlfriend/boyfriend and just slow dance through the night. "Shakin All Over" Covered by Rose Hill Drive is a great cover. The guitar, and the quick drums make you grab your guitar, hits random notes, and just rock out for the sake of it. "Mr.Sandman" just a fantastic cover by Oranger. The easy guitar at the start and then the slightly distorted guitar half way through forces you to love the song.
